[Louie just happened across all of this, and honestly it's a miracle he went without laughing as long as he did. But now the giggles come out in full force, and he approaches.]

[Machi is somehow completely stumped to find someone anywhere near his age talking to him. That's the impression he gives; he turns to stare blankly in Louie's vague direction, his mouth suddenly closed and expression (at best) nonplussed.

It probably doesn't help that the nuisance bird in the bush nearby has chosen to replicate Louie's infectious giggles.]

So? Bird no listen. What I supposed to doing? No listen.

[Louie does tilt his head in confusion at the odd look he gets, though this is done as he's still getting over his snickering.]

It might just be doing a bird thing, if it's a flying-type Pokemon. There are a lot of birds that copy what you say, like parrots. Yeah, those guys are super-annoying.

[That's not really what Machi wants to hear. He reaches across his body with one arm, gripping his upper arm on the other side tigthtly. It's meant to conceal his feelings on the matter, but it makes him look exclusively nervous.]

Which the chatot happily repeats, several times. And before anyone can do anything about it, the bird spreads its wings, fluttering up to a tree and out of reach.

[Watching the bird, Louie's eyes widen in surprise before returning to their usual, heavy-lidded state. Actually, maybe more than usual. This just turned the corner and went from "kinda funny" to "kinda tiring".]

Wow. Okay, yeah. That thing is definitely just a jerk.
