...Not likin' your Pokemon, huh? Or whatever these creatures are called.
no subject
No. No, I am not 'liking.' Stupid bird.
[His head angles slightly, like he's indicating the bird with the direction of its tilt. Or maybe it's a half shrug, to go with the resignation. He crosses his arms over his chest.]
Cannot make to listen. Cannot make to leave. Why?
[Why won't it listen and obey? Or why does he have to have a stupid bird to begin with? Both questions are in play here. He doesn't even like animals. This sucks.]
no subject
I could take it off your hands. Give ya something a bit more tame, since these people don't seem to accept not everybody likes their little creatures. [ A pause, as she shook her head. ] Though it's all a bit messed up.

[Machi is surprised... and it shows on his face for just a second. His hesitation isn't borne of concern for the bird, though he does glance at it secretly, behind his sunglasses. Outwardly, though, his counternance remains small and stern, though he grips the sleeve of his upper right arm with the other hand.
Thinking.
His hesitation is... really, it's about whether or not that would be... 'allowed.'
Or--
No. He also has another concern.]
'Tame?'
[The chatot in the bush is suddenly quiet, too. Eyeing Fordola with one beady eye. Then it eyes Machi. Then Fordola.
It's trainer wouldn't... really.... would he??]
Messed up!! Messed! Up!
no subject
It won't fight back. I mean, unless it's in a battle.
[ What has she done...? ] And if it's no good, I'll even let you trade again. [ There's enough Pokemon out here that some would need to be timid enough to follow this kids commands. There's no sign of guilt from her, nor any sign of anything being wrong.
Until she shrugs. ] Bird. You messed up, if this guy wants rid of you. [ guilting the BIRD ]
no subject
Pun reluctantly intended.
In fact...
He's still not stupid, but suddenly this deal is looking not only viable, but extremely appealing.
And the very big petty steak in him is getting no small amount of satisfaction at the karmic retribution factor.]
Show me.
[He directs the two syllables, blunt as a brick, to Fordola. He is completely ignoring the bird now, who watches them in disbelief. Its beak is actually cracked open slightly--as though perhaps it was thinking of saying something, but lost the nerve.]

Out came a Sandshrew, standing utterly still. With a strong stance, it looked upwards. Waiting for a command. (...there didn't seem to be much of anything behind its' big eyes.) ]
Here it is.
no subject
Yes. Actually. Yes. This will work. This is a good deal.
It's only through sheer, practised willpower that his mask of serious, un-childlike indifference doesn't crack to reveal his smile.
But he literally can't hand over the Pokeball fast enough--he practically shoves it into Fordola's hand. Though he doesn't let go exactly, and won't until the other Pokeball is his.
Again: he's not stupid.]
Take it.
[And as he says it, the Chatot--which has been eyeing the sandshrew with such a burning, baleful stare that what comes next is really no surprise at all--suddenly spreads its wings and divebombs the Ground type in fury.]
no subject
Hm. If she knew the guy was pretending to be blind, she'd be preparing right now to see what she could get out of this, out of keeping this secret. But instead, she tosses over the other Pokeball.
The Ground-type? The poor Sandshrew? Just... curls up. Barely getting scratched - defending itself! Fordola, however, eyes the kid warily. Before trying to recall the Chatot.
Of course, we both know that Pokemon can resist being in their ball. ]
Pleasure doin' business with you.
no subject
The Chatot, meanwhile, glances off the Sandshrew's shell, flapping its wings violently to regain control of its flight. The red beam of the Pokeball hits it just as it veers back around, perhaps intending for another attempt.
And for a second, it looks as though it won't obey.
Then, still staring baleful daggers at the small, pale boy who betrayed it, the little parrot dissolves into red light and disappears into Fordola's ball.
Machi offers her a small, fleeting smile.]
A pleasure.
