Radley holds his ground as his Pokemon gather around him. "I object to Pokemon being taken against their will," he says. "That one didn't want to go with you. I'll set it free unless it decides on its own to come with us."

And he would be reporting this suspicious activity to the Jennies too.

[Sigh.] At least Jangle's easy to feed. The Pokedex says he absorbs metal ions by interacting with objects, and other than post-battle meds, he doesn't seem to want much beyond that.

That's certainly helpful, yes, though if you choose to even Pokémon like that can often still consume treats specifically designed for them.

Though, have you made it as far as Cherrygrove City yet? There's little enough in the way of supplies in New Bark Town, but once you've reached Cherrygrove there's more opportunity to better prepare for travel.

Yeah, we're stopped in Cherrygrove right now.

Any tips on what's important to stock up on? I'm a little edgy about running through my cash before I get myself established.

Depending on how confident your are in your foraging skills, food designed for travel is good to have plenty of. Given the time of year, you'll also want both a warm enough sleep bag or tent for sleeping, and likely a heat source or a means to create one as well.

That said, it takes most people at least a week or so to make the trip to Violet city on foot, so you don't want to pack so much that it will slow you down, either.

And I bet it's more of that nature path crap, so no chance of hitchhiking?

Indeed. Should you catch a Pokémon you can ride, that would be an option, however.

The Doctor nodded towards the ball in Radley's hand.

"Of course. It's your prize, do with it what you like. As I said, these creatures aren't rare. I can find another."

"I'll give you some advice," Radley says. "If you really don't mean them any harm, don't be so rough with them. You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar."

But he would remain leery of the man's intentions.

I'll keep an eye out for something like that, then. [There's just a bit of melancholy that breaks through her bravado, there; she shakes it off quickly.] Hey, thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

*Sion notices that, but doesn't comment on it*

You're quite welcome. Is there anything else you'd like to know?

Well, this is all very strange. He's not actually sure what to make of this. Any of this really.

But he will switch himself to being video as well. He can at least figure out this technology easy enough. It reminds him of shinra-type tech.

Tough-looking eyepatch man meet long-haired cat-eyed man.

"He was less than helpful. What was that?" He says straight to the point. Not his original point, but a point nonetheless.

"Zipper's a Helioptile."

Geddoe's assuming that's what this guy means, at least. The Helioptile in question, meanwhile, having returned the Pokégear to its rightful owner, is scrambling up said owner's arm to perch on his shoulder.

"You new here?"

He's not guessing that because of the question, there's hundreds of Pokémon, Geddoe's pretty sure he still doesn't know all of them himself. No, he's guessing that because of how he asked the question, sounding like someone unfamiliar with Pokémon in general.

This was meant for her but she chooses to hide.

[Of course that's not a very clear response but this is Sephiroth and that's normal.]

[crystalmaster]

... Okay. Who, exactly? Maybe I've seen her.

[sefirot]

[This is a lot of information that Sephiroth really wishes he understands, but he does not. He's not about to let that stop him though, or really let on that he doesn't quite understand what's going on. He's superior to all other life and this ... is just some illusion that he can do nothing but play along with.

He eyes Cloud for a bit longer before finally making a decision about how he's going to handle everything.]

Yes. Take me to this place. I would like to see Zack and speak to him in person.

"I'm not looking to catch flies, and the only reason I lost this one is that you interfered. ...But for those from which I require certain behavior, I will take it in mind."

[crystalmaster]

"You realize that's an expression, right?" Radley steps back. "And yeah, that's true you would have had this one if not for us, but I don't know whether or not it would have ever warmed up to you."

It had definitely seemed a more brutal battle to him than anything he had seen with other Trainers when they tried to catch Pokemon. Maybe he was wrong, but he didn't really think so after their interaction.

"Does that matter?"

"If it doesn't matter to you, then I feel all the more justified in rescuing this cutie," Radley says as he starts to head off. "Most scientists care about the Pokemon enough to want them to care in turn."

Or at least that's the impression he has.

[nimbuster]

[Cloud nods, unable to help the small smile that creeps onto his face. Sephiroth's going to come visit their apartment! He gets to travel with the general again!]

Yes, sir. Um--here.

[He unhooks a pokeball from his belt and brings out Hardy the Cyclizar, then mounts up.]

Having your Ditto copy Hardy is your best bet, since uh...my birds aren't trained to carry riders yet. Ready to go when you are, general!

[nimbuster]

[A moment later, Cloud walks in from the kitchen carrying two mugs of hot cocoa and hands one of them to Sephiroth. He turns to Zack and beams, proud of himself and too focused on trying to make Sephiroth feel at home to notice what Zack brought with him.]

Hey, Zack! I found the general in Cherrygrove. Or, uh, he found me, I guess. He's got a Ditto, so it just copied Hardy and we rode back here. He said he wanted to talk to you in person. He just arrived not long ago--right, sir?

[perfectteatime]

I don't mind. I'm just...I'm really happy to see you again. Having them around reminded me of you.

[sefirot]

[Being given a mug of hot cocoa by Cloud is not something Sephiroth ever expected to be doing. But neither is ... anything that's happened so far. Even after the trip here he's still trying to wrap his head around it all.]

That's exactly right, Cloud. Good job.

[But at least dealing with Cloud is easy. Almost too easy. Zack on the other hand --]

When I heard you were here as well, I just couldn't stay away. After all, we have so much to discuss. Isn't that right, Zack?

[The small twitch at the edge at the corner of his lips probably tells Zack everything he needs to know. It's almost a dare for him to say something -- to crush poor Cloud's dreams right here. Sephiroth hasn't done that yet, so he's wondering if Zack will. Either way is fine, but he can't say he doesn't enjoy having Cloud willingly go along with anything he says.]

Well, that doesn't help much, but at least he has a name for the thing now. Not that it's extremely important, but Sephiroth does like knowledge. Even if that includes strange creatures he's never seen before that may or may not be real (that's still up for debate).

The question almost earns a huff. Almost.

"Unfortunately I seem to have just arrived. This place is ... unusual." That is the best and most civil way he can put it.
