But he will switch himself to being video as well. He can at least figure out this technology easy enough. It reminds him of shinra-type tech.
Tough-looking eyepatch man meet long-haired cat-eyed man.
"He was less than helpful. What was that?" He says straight to the point. Not his original point, but a point nonetheless.

Geddoe's assuming that's what this guy means, at least. The Helioptile in question, meanwhile, having returned the Pokégear to its rightful owner, is scrambling up said owner's arm to perch on his shoulder.
"You new here?"
He's not guessing that because of the question, there's hundreds of Pokémon, Geddoe's pretty sure he still doesn't know all of them himself. No, he's guessing that because of how he asked the question, sounding like someone unfamiliar with Pokémon in general.

The question almost earns a huff. Almost.
"Unfortunately I seem to have just arrived. This place is ... unusual." That is the best and most civil way he can put it.
no subject
Geddoe still finds the place pretty strange, himself. On several levels. He just does his best to learn how to live with it anyway.
"You shoulda got some creature like Zipper when you arrived. Probably not the same kind, but something. People here like to have 'em battle each other, though they're usually... 'friendly' matches, or something."
Pokemon 101 from the guy who doesn't like talking much. Really, he's probably just trying to head off any of the typical questions so he doesn't wind up stuck having to answer them all one by one.

He reaches somewhere off screen and pulls a ditto into view. A shapeless blob with a face. Sephiroth considers it either to be mostly useless or a spy. Either one he doesn't particularly like.
"But do people use creatures to battle and not their own skill?"
no subject
At least Geddoe's seen a wild Ditto or two before, enough to recognize it. The question earns a shrug, though.
"Something like that. Mostly they do it for fun, and good luck finding anything like a real weapon here anyway."
no subject
He does enjoy fighting and finds it thrilling but fun? Hardly in his vocabulary. He especially can't see it via using strange animals.
"The only weapon I require is the masamune. I do not need an animal or anything else." That is his sword and he wants it back. Somehow. It not being here is unacceptable (he'll eventually have to accept it.)
no subject
"The Pokemon's what you've got. They don't do weapons in this world apparently."
In other words, deal with it. Or not. But Geddoe has no interest in trying to soothe a stranger's feelings should he make a whole thing out of it.
no subject
Besides isn't using a creature just a weapon in itself?
no subject
There's all kinds of arguments to be had about what counts as a weapon, mind, but Geddoe doesn't care enough to get into that. The long and the short of it is that there's no good way to get ahold of, say, a proper sword.
no subject
It wouldn't be the first time he's taken out something on the locals, even if he doesn't make a habit of lighting towns on fire.
"Do they use these animals to fight their wars as well?"
belatedly congrats on your app getting in btw!
"It seems they don't really do wars much here to begin with."
Possibly because if/when they did, Pokemon inevitably would get involved.
thank you!
"That seems unusual. Humanity always drives itself towards war."
There's no way any normal society would exist very long without such a thing. Which is why none of this can be real because people will ultimately try to kill one another.
I look forward to shenanigans :)
Has Geddoe seen lots of wars in his time? Oh yes. Does he also see promise in the times he's seen people set aside those differences and work together anyway? Quite possibly.
"Things can be different in different worlds, anyway. Like how people here can't use magic."
me too!
"You'd have to eliminate greed, hate, and all irrational thinking in order to have a place without war."
did you want this to carry over to game btw?
"Either way, people here do some things differently than most. If you don't wanna have trouble, it's a good idea to know how things work."
Which is generally good advice even without throwing worldhopping into the mix.
yes!
"How knowledgeable are you of this world?"
He's at least not going to go around purposely picking fights. He's crazy but not that kind of crazy.
sweet :D Geddoe is friends with Zack (and thus Cloud) but they've never told him about Sephiroth~
"Not as much as some. Been here about a year or so."
He feels he knows enough to get by, in other words.
excellent~ drama awaits then
"Where were you before you arrived here?"
He might as well start there. This is less him being nosey about this guy personally, and more trying to put together the pieces about how this world works.
so much delicious drama
Which, given that they're from different worlds entirely, probably tells him exactly nothing. But really, even if he were so inclined, Geddoe can't really give a better answer without knowing the intent behind the question.
It's the best
"And what were you doing right before?" Arriving that is.
Geddoe's the type to be protective of his friends too so :)
"Probably making camp, or something."
It was like almost a year ago, and wasn't anything memorable at the time, so he doesn't recall the specifics. Which might be telling in how readily and matter of factly he accepted the notion of being pulled into another world in the first place. He's seen gate runes in action before, such a thing isn't necessarily impossible, just incredibly unlikely.
