aw shoot, here we go again. (route 29)

[ This is... surreal.

It feels like almost no time has passed for her at all but, apparently, it's been six months. At least six months, she realizes, if the date is correct. What happened? Did she get lost in a time-space void some Pokemon opened up? That honestly seems like a likely explanation. It's as good of a guess as she's going to have right away.

At least she has some of her buddies back. ]

C'mon, Momi, [ she says to her adorable chunky Slowpoke trundling along after her. He is wearing a very adorable knit sweater and has a flower tucked behind one ear. ]

Flipflap, christ- [ Her now Pidgeot is rocketing off ahead to fly and stretch out his wings. In the meantime, he divebombs and terrorizes anyone nearby with an unexpectedly strong gust of wind. ]

[ Excuse the woman taking pictures of her Slowpoke at various angles and in slightly different spots for lighting purposes. ]

Hey, [ she says, to anyone close by- ] Do these pictures look good enough to post to you? I gotta' make my comeback to Momi's social media, like, awesome or else people will be disappointed.

[ It took a while to get here with 1) no money and 2) no Pokemon that can really get her here quick. She's too afraid to fly and worries about the strain on any of hers that she could use to ride...

But, you know, she's here. Eventually. Again?

Rose raises a hand to knock on the door but it drops back down to her side. Quietly, she mutters: ] What if they don't remember me? Or, like, are mad I disappeared? I didn't mean to.

Uh, this time.

[ Don't mind this dork just

standing in the way of anyone trying to leave or enter the main house. It's fine. She'll be fine. ]

Route 29

Quite apart from the nearby absol currently trying to swat back at the pidgeot-

Sol was enchanted. This tiny pink friend making their way along, with a little sweater even- this? This was proof enough that this new world was worth at least looking at.

They squatted, arms resting on their knees as they watched the slowpoke follow along with an expression that bordered on bliss. And their name was Momi. How completely wonderful.

"And what do you do, little friend..." the question was mostly directed at themself, as a notebook was pulled from an inside pocket. Quadrupedal, pink... long tail. Short, sleek fur. Aquatic mammal? Maybe... Sure, they could just look it up, but where was the fun in that?

To that, her Pidgeot gives a snort from where he decides to rest on high. Holding a wing up to his beak, he narrows his eyes down at the Absol. Before Rose can make sure her bird isn't going to throw down with her dog(?), she sees Sol taking a good long look at Momi.

"Amazing, isn't he?" she offers, walking back towards the Slowpoke's side. He looks slowly (ha) from Rose then back to Sol with a blank expression. His head tilts and round ears give a little wiggle.

"Slow...?" he questions.

"Momirobara's got a lot of fans, actually!"

[littletomato]

The absol huffed, before padding back to her human's side. "He's perfect." Sure, they'd said that about just about every creature they'd encountered thus far, but she wasn't to know that. And they weren't lying! "Pink isn't my favorite color, but it's a good one, and I have a friend back home who'd think you were the best thing in the whole world." They offered the back of their hand, holding it out as if for inspection.

"Sorry," they managed, after a moment, laughing softly. "I've never seen creatures quite like these in my life, and every new one I meet is so unique and different. I get distracted- I'm Sol! Yourself?"

[hasitsthorns]

"Hey, no worries. I remember my first time in the presence of such majestic beasts. It was Momi here though that ended up being my partner... How could he not be?" Look at him. He's perfect! The offered hand gets an appendage in return to hold. Confused, certainly, but sincere. Is this what he is supposed to do? It seems like that's what this woman wanted, what he's supposed to be doing.

"My name's Rose," she offers, giving a winning smile, "and I'm a bit more accustomed to this place but... Guess I've been out of it for a while, maybe? Still kind of figuring it out."

[littletomato]

Sol smiled softly, standing after successfully negotiating the sacred maneuver known among pet owners everywhere as- gimme paw.

"Rose... That's such a pretty name. Maybe I'm biased, but something about plant-based names just... appeals." She smiled, offering a hand. "Solanaceae. But honestly, only my mom calls me that when she's mad, just Sol's fine."

[hasitsthorns]

"Me, too, actually. That's how Momi got his name- It means pink roses, which are symbolic of trust in someone." She gives her little companion a grin.

The Slowpoke drops its paw soon as it is released and stares blankly toward Sol's legs. "But that is definitely a mouthful so, y'know, I can see why it's reserved for serious occasions."

Knock knock

[ And who happens to emerge from the door first? Well it's Byleth! It... it might be? He's bundled to the nines. Somewhere under all that knit, it's Byleth. He starts at Rosie just. Standing right there as he looks up from his pokegear.

Pausing for a long moment before... ]

... Rosie?

Is... that really you?

[hasitsthorns]

[ Ah, fu- ]

Uhm.

[ Absolutely nailing it, girl.

She resists the temptation to make a quip about him looking like that kid from A Christmas Story... but mostly because she remembers he'd have no clue what she was talking about. Right. Okay. ]

It's really me! I think? I know I've been kind of, uh, MIA for a while but trust me when I say it wasn't by choice. Last thing I remember was going to that weird way back Pokemon land and... that's it.

Until now, I mean. Since I'm, y'know, here. It's me.

[perfectteatime]

I'm so glad to see you. I was so worried...

[ He pauses, pulling the scarf away from his mouth. ]

I have your Pokemon. I took care of them while you were gone.

[hasitsthorns]

You did?

[ She sounds genuinely surprised and simultaneously touched about the information. If there was anyone she'd trust to look after Momi, Little Guy, and even Flipflap... It probably would have been Byleth. ]

I didn't mean to, like, worry you though. I wouldn't have left if I had a choice. [ A lie. Or is it? Damn, feelings are

difficult. ]

Thank you though for... looking after them. Hope they didn't give you too much trouble.

I did. I'm glad to see you.

[ There's a certain warmth to his voice that had been lacking before. ]

They've been good.




Except Flip-Flap. He's a right little bastard.

[ Ah, that's...

It's still a bit strange, in a way, the idea that people missed her. That they cared. Care? She's still catching up to everything. ]

I mean, I'm sorry you've had to deal with him but- I wouldn't have him any other way, actually.

I don't mind. I'm just...I'm really happy to see you again. Having them around reminded me of you.

Route 29

[crystalmaster]

Whoa!

[Radley is not pleased to get dive-bombed by wind gusts, and he grabs his Pokemon to shield them. When he looks up, however, he perks up immensely.]

Hey! I haven't seen you around in ages!

[hasitsthorns]

[ His reaction only gets a tittering of amusement from her Pidgeot that now rests on a tall tree branch. It doesn't bother him anymore but seems pleased to have caused a little bit of chaos. ]

Uh-? Oh! Hey, dude, long time no see.

[crystalmaster]

[Radley sets his Pokemon down and the ones who have met Rose hurry over to her to say Hi.]

Where have you been? Were you sent home?

[hasitsthorns]

[ Oh. Oh, no, that's cute. She crouches down to give them pets and pets for being good Pokemon. Momirobara, meanwhile, stops by her side and then sploots onto his stomach with a yawn. So tiring, all this walking... ]

I don't know? Maybe. I mean, I hope not, but like... I definitely wasn't here, it seems like.

Last I remember was going back to the Pokemon past. I don't think I made it back with everyone.

[crystalmaster]

[Evie warbles in delight!

Radley stares in horror.]

So you've just been wandering in limbo?!

[Why would Arceus do that?!]

[hasitsthorns]

Well, to me that's what it seems like but... Who knows!

Maybe the time-space continuum just got messed up and I was meant to come back same time as you guys but instead just now showed up?

[crystalmaster]

... Yeah, maybe.

[Radley isn't satisfied, but he'll leave it alone.]

So do you have everybody back now?

[Felix spots some blond woman from a distance, standing on the front stoop of the main house mumbling to herself, and doesn’t recognize her from behind or from that far away. So, with an irritated frown, he changes course to make a beeline for the main house with two Breloom and his Oshawott trailing behind him. As he approaches, he calls out to whoever this lady is.

Whatever it is you’re peddling, no one’s interested. Go away.

[ Oh, hey, she recognizes that grumpy gills... They'd only jammed out, like, the once. Then she was in his house half-naked making pancakes.

It feels like forever ago. Was it? It seems like it was. ]

Psht, you couldn't afford what I had to offer anyway.
