Atreus | God of War: Ragnarok (spoilers possible!)

a new adventure begins. (route 1)

[ While he can't say this is any realm he recognizes, he had been warned that his travels might take him to places unknown. It seems they weren't kidding. His "mom" was freaky enough as is but now he has a little black... fox? to deal with? ]

H-hey, wait!

[ He calls off after it as it immediately begins to prance towards the woods. Atreus takes off after it, calling to anyone that might be near: ] Stop that thing!

double double, toil and trouble (around kanto)

[ It didn't take Atreus long to learn more about his new "friend." One of the first tricks he pulled out of his sleeve was transforming into another one of these... Pokemon, after all, and it didn't take long for the teen to wonder. Could he turn into copies of people, too?

It seems to sense his curiosity and, in a blink, there's another of him standing there. ] Woah! [ he exclaims. Atreus smiles and the Zorua
smiles back. He raises a hand and the Pokemon mirrors it. Oh. Oh, no.

This is going to be fun. Before he can come up with any real ideas though, his attention is caught by someone approaching. ]

Oh, uh- Hey. Do you know where the nearest town is? My... twin and I, you know, were hoping to find a place to rest soon.

Double Trouble

Sol blinked, when addressed. Older child, mid-teens... two of them? Oh, twins. How fun. She smiled brightly, leaning forward a little with a conspiratorial and slightly-mad sort of excited grin.

"Not even slightly! D'you know they still use paper here, it's so weird! I've been having trouble with the map and I am completely lost. It's not exactly got the finest detail, has it?"

Something tells him he should be concerned about such a grin. Another part of him though is glad, mostly, at not being discovered just yet. While his other "self" does have a giveaway in the form of a tail, he's quick to motion for him to hide it while he can and however he can as Sol talks about the map.

"Oh, well... Not that weird for us, I guess. I mean, there are other kinds of maps where I'm from but, well, paper is a classic. My dad and I- Us. We used them all the time. We can probably help you find your way around."

The twin gives a small thumbs up.

If Sol saw it, she certainly didn't seem bothered by it. "Oh, is your dad an explorer? That sounds pretty fun, actually! Mine are farmers, I had to sneak out if I wanted to go places, when I was little."

The Map was extricated, with some difficulty, badly folded and a maze of lines that might as well have been a cat's cradle, to her eyes. "See here, it's got a bunch of stuff labeled, but that's not terribly helpful, because it doesn't illustrate a lot of local landmarks, and obviously it can't tell me where I actually am. I'm not too worried about being lost in the woods, I can handle it, but it would be nice to get my bearings."

Explorer? That gets a small smile from the boy. Well, he hadn't thought of it that way before but... "Yeah, I guess he kind of is. Me, too. We traveled across almost all the nine realms together." It doesn't seem a strange thing to say. Little will he knows just how strange his reality may be for some.

"Let me-"
"Let me-"

The boys speak in unison and Atreus gives a small blink. It's a bit surreal to hear his voice come from someone - something? - else. Still, if Odin had the ability to shapeshift... He supposes this isn't out of the ordinary. "...see," the main talker hear continues as he takes the map. "I'm Loki, by the way," he adds, looking at the map. "And this is Atreus." A gesture to the other him.

"My friends call me Sol, and Solanaceae's kind of a mouthful, so it works for everyone else, too." They beamed, glancing between the two. Loki and Atreus. There was... actually almost no difference between the two. A slight difference in the eyes, maybe, a vague sense that Atreus was enjoying some sort of private joke, but other than that they were uncannily identical, even for twins.

They did open the map, though, showing it to the pair. "I've got as far as figuring I started in New Bark Town, and this would be Route 29, but other than that..." They gestured vaguely at the assorted squiggles. "No landmarks. There's supposed to be an intersection with another road, here, but I must have missed it."

A New Adventure

[Listen, I have no explanation for why Naeva would be in Kanto but it's fine. She watches the Zorua for a moment, and then sets her Riolu down, before calling out--directly to the Zorua.

Being able to talk to pokemon has many advantages.]

Hey, little one!

[She is calling. And holding up a pokepuff. Come here, this is a totally safe treat and not at all a trap!]

Atreus watches as she... speaks to his Pokemon? Huh, that's interesting. While he could get an understanding for animals' feelings that sometimes manifested as thoughts if strong enough, he'd never been able to answer unless they spoke Giant. All he'd been able to get from his companion so far was excitement and restlessness to begin exploring the world.

But there is interest in the pokepuff. Despite the way he narrows his eyes and doesn't actually come closer, he does stop from taking off. Hm. Hm. ]

I'll have to get some of those.

They sell them at most bakeries.

[She is very patiently waiting for the Zorua to come close enough to get scruffed. C'mere little buddy come towards the sweets and the mom vibes.]

Oh, yeah? [ Bakery. Okay, well- He does know what that is. There aren't many that he's been in but that's a small comfort. Similarities.

The creature gives a couple of tippy-taps of his feet impatiently. He looks from Atreus to the strange woman and back to the pokepuff. Eventually, he seems to decide that there is time for a snack before rushing off headlong. He scampers back over to nab it from her hand and jump back a little bit while it eats. ]

Thank you though. I mean, I just got here and... I don't really know how it all goes but you seem to understand enough.
