Huh...
[Vash allows the ball to roll out of his palm and onto the ground. It cracks open, light spilling out before revealing... another Mimikyu. She looks back and forth between Vash, Mando, and her twin, before opting to shuffle over and cower behind Vash's legs.]
So. They all look like that, then?
no subject
Huh.
[Mimikando isn't so shy; she goes waltzing over to the new Mimikyu to make friends. Hello! Would you like to be creepy together? She knows a way to make your costume look extra like a Pikachu skin!]
Uh, no. There are a lot of different types. We just have the same one.
[And here he was concerned about not getting out one of his huge Pokemon and intimidating the new guy!]
I'll get out another one.
[Another ball, and this time, it's Ball the Spheal.]

Vash, meanwhile, is very fascinated by the little ball of blubber in front of him. He kneels down, holding his flesh hand out in a cautious greeting. The smile he offers is small but genuine. Heartfelt.]
It's a pleasure to meet you, little one. You all come in interesting shapes and sizes, huh?

[Ball, meanwhile, is delighted to have someone paying attention to him. He barks cheerfully and delivers a flabby but enthusiastic high-five to Vash's offered hand.]
That's Ball. He's a Spheal. Ice and water type.
[Note to self: lead with Ball in the future. Mando initially chose Mimikando so he wouldn't be pulling out a giant 'fuck off' Pokemon in front of someone new. Mimikando might be small and unimposing, but she's a little creepy if you haven't gotten to know her. Ball is a much better choice.]
And yes, there are all different kinds and types of Pokemon. Yours is a Mimikyu. They're ghost type.

[He supposes it's not too strange. Animals back on Earth, and thus those stored in cryosleep, were organized by type and classifications. But none of them were elemental in nature.]
Is that based on where they live? Their environments? Or... what?
[He turns to look at his own Mimikyu, brow furrowing. He doesn't love the idea of a ghost following him around — he has enough of those as it is.] Maybe not. I don't think there's a... ghost place you can go to.

Yes, lots of different ones. I mostly have fire and dragon types.
As far as anyone can tell, they get their type based on where they live. The types don't always make sense, though. I have a Fire/Plant type, for example.
[And she's a real snot, too.]
The ghost types are different. It's even more unclear how they turn up. [Mando does catch the change in Vash's demeanour though, and clarifies a little further.] Your Mimikyu isn't dead, if that's what you're worried about. It just doesn't have a solid form and uses ghost type attacks.

He barely catches on to Mando's explanation of ghosts. It puts that part of his mind at ease, at least. But now he has bigger things to worry about so... good with the bad.]
I see. [His voice is stiff. That's probably fine.] And... the Plant types you mentioned. What are those like?
no subject
I can show you one. She's going to be rude, though.
[Ball makes a face and barks sadly. Don't let Spicy out, please, they're all having such a nice day!]
You can splash her, Ball, if she gets too wild.
[With Ball appeased and ready to splash, Mando gets out another ball and lets Spicy out. Behold, Vash: a Scovillain! She takes one look at Vash, cackles with both heads, and makes a rude gesture with her leafy little bud arms.]
This is Spicy.
