[And as Kurama was sitting outside on that bench, there would be a flamingo like Pokemon coming up towards him. Not like it wanted to attack... more like it was trying to see what he was doing. It kept inching closer, like it wanted to try and read over his shoulder.

Then Quatre came jogging over a moment later. He was going to have to keep an eye on this bird]

Sorry if he disturbed you. He's very curious.

[He was perceptive enough to catch the animal approaching, but for the moment pretended otherwise. As he was trying to blend in with regular humans and give the impression of teenage normalcy (or something like it), he kept the pink bird in the periphery of his vision, letting it approach unacknowledged for the moment. If it could read, it would see that the red haired boy was studying the different 'types' of Pokémon and how those types related to each other.

A vulpix that was curled up nearby gave a yawn, blinking sleepily as Quatre approached, but the fox and human did little more than glance up with the interruption. It seemed like a common occurrence for the poor guy, but Kurama was all smiles, as if entirely unbothered by any of it.]

Not at all. Does he normally join strangers in their reading?

[The Flamigo probably couldn't read, but he was looking at... something so it was worth looking at too. It had also noticed the Vulpix, but the Pokemon was just sleeping which was not that exciting.

Quatre also noticed the Vulpix as he approached to wrangle his Flamigo. Cute]

I think he's just curious about what others are doing. He wanders off occasionally... not too far from me, but just enough.

[Quatre happened to notice what he was reading, having been reading that as well recently]

Oh you are new here too?

[She got up and stretched now that there were new friends to examine, approaching Quatre and sniffing around his ankles curiously.]

What a bold one you have. She likes to keep me in her line of sight at all times, it seems.

[At the question, he looked down at the research as if surprised to find it there.]

Ah, yes! Just... Trying to get acquainted. Have you been settling in alright?

[Aww, cute fox creature. Even Quatre's Flamigo was looking down at the Vulpix. Just looking with its head tilted down]

Hi little one. That's probably a good practice. Less chaos that way I think.

[He was learning that one... the Flamigo reminded him so much of home]

I think so. There is a lot to remember. I think I'm going to have to make a chart or something just so I can work on memorizing this. Type advantages and disadvantages. Taking care of them.

She causes more than enough chaos as is, I'd fear what she's capable of, if she thought running off would be to her advantage. Always looking for handouts... I suppose I'd be getting a lot more exercise, at least.

[Seeming to determine the humans were boring, she turned her attention to the Flamigo instead, approaching with a chipper vuul in greeting.]

I thought I would start small and work with a handful at a time, based on region. On the plus side, it seems there's a whole guide you can access just by scanning them.

Oh I see. Well, she definitely has figured out she is cute and can get away with it.

[It was true: their conversation was not exciting. The Flamigo turned to the Vulpix and squawked in greeting. Hello, small friend. Want to play?]

That is a good idea. Also working with one at time makes it easier to learn what they like, what they don't like, and how best to handle their typings. That does make it easier since it seems like there are a lot of them. It's how I know mine is called a Flamigo.

Foxes are quite clever.

[He offered with a faint smirk, having no bias whatsoever. The fox in question puffed a small flame at the flamingo Pokémon, posed to dodge and weave in an effort to instigate chase.]

They're very interesting creatures, aren't they? Though with several hundred to study, I'd say we've got our work cut out for us.

They are. That is what I have heard at least. I haven't met any in person.

[And indeed the flamingo would give chase. It seemed to know this was the game, but it was perfectly willing to join in]

Yeah, I'd think so. I'm excited to learn more about them though.

[Watching as his Flamigo ran around with the Vulpix]

[Kurama's little smirk at his own joke only widens at that response, coughing into his hand to interrupt the chuckle that followed.]

I may be a little biased...

[His gaze turned back to the duo as well, watching as the adventurous little vulpix rolled through the flamigo's legs, darting off a safe enough distance to puff a small flame in playful taunt.

While he may be teasing a bit, he's hoping it would be easy enough to assume he was referring to the vulpix with that line of thought.]

Do you have plans for what kind of team you'd like to put together?

[Quatre chuckled]

Yes, if you have a fox, I would imagine you would be biased.

[Yes, he had taken it exactly how Kurama how had hoped he would. The Flamigo was having fun chasing after the Vulpix especially as it kept playfully taunting]

I'm not sure at the moment. I do already have one bird so that's a start. I was looking and it seem like there are a lot of bird options. But I'll have to see.

They have a remarkable talent for growing on you.

[He was fond of her, even if he's certain she's shaping up to be the trouble maker of the team. Which she only reinforces by playfully swiping at the flamigo's leg, as if to trip it.]

A fan of birds, then?

[His humor in that is entirely hypocritical, but at least he's self-aware. On the plus side, it seemed that forming teams with one theme in mind wasn't an unusual concept, as others shared the same idea.]

That they do. There are so many of them and they seem like they would be good friends.

[His Flamigo is a bit of a trouble maker as well, but he didn't mind. He was very cute]

I don't know if I specifically prefer birds over others, but they are very fascinating. I'd have to research if that might be a good option.

[He didn't want to make his team too one sided by picking a theme like that]

It seems they each have their strengths and weaknesses, leaning too heavily on one type may put your team at a disadvantage overall. Personally, I find myself most curious about the grass type, however a decent strategy requires an open mind.

Grass type... Hmm, that does sound interesting. I think I'm interested in the ground type. I feel like that would be oddly familiar, but I'd like to take a look more at what they can do.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. From my understanding, a team with both may offer substantial balance.

[He is still new, but had at least read something that gave him that impression. At least Quatre was seriously considering his own options with research.]

Agreed. If nothing else, having counters will make easier to not be beaten so easily. A ground only team would be pretty easy for someone to figure out.

Is there a type you are interested in learning more about?

I have actually been reading up on the Dragon Type recently, but more for a friend than myself. It seems that his starter will one day evolve into one, so I'd like to be ahead of the curve.

Oh? So it is not a dragon type right now? That's interesting. What is the Pokemon if I may ask?

Apparently, it's a flying type. He started his journey with a Swablu on arrival.

A swablu? I met someone who had one on my way here. I wonder if that was him.

Is that so? Did you happen to catch a name?

I believe his name was Kuwabara.

Ah, yes - that would be him! Small world, it seems.

Yes, it is. He was very nice and my Flamigo enjoyed playing with his Swablu.
