That makes one of us, at least.
[Seriously Anders, how are you talking to him?]
no subject
[He seems very unperturbed to be talking about his own inevitable permanent plunge into the Fade. Speaking of, please don't mind the obviously demon-possessed pumpkin floating up behind him and staring directly into Varric's soul, probably.]
no subject
[He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to make sense of what he was hearing. Had the rifts blown time and space apart? Much as that wouldn't have surprised him, it still didn't seem as if it was the right answer.
In any case, Varric had more prevalent concerns.]
You know, much as I would love to give you hell, it looks like you're preoccupied. Any reason why you're levitating produce?
no subject
Anders does glance over his shoulder to gauge how close Nutmeg is, and upon being satisfied with her distance, shrugs.]
I'm not doing anything. She's the newest model. Fully self-levitating, complete with automatic projectile firing and leaf cutting, which I can assure hurts you more than it hurts her.
She's called a Pokemon, like your little friend. They're rather a big deal here.

What kind of idiot do you think I am. They don't even look alike.

... Lily?
[A big, fluffy, pink and white... round thing shoves its face? body? bodyface? in the camera after a second.]

I wish I was still in Thedas and this was a fever dream I could wake from.
[Well, when he really thinks about it, it would be pretty awful to lose the friends he has in Johto, person and Pokemon alike. But fuck if he doesn't spend every waking moment longing for home. Porque no los dos?]
No, you're not sick. Only very, very lost. I'm sure a nug would seem as much like a hallucination to some of the people I've met here.
no subject
No offense, but I get the feeling you really don't want to wake up in Thedas. You're... kind of dead there. [What was it Anders had said? He had five minutes left?]
At least, you've been dead for a couple of years for me.
[It occurred to Varric that he finally had the opportunity to drill Anders on all of the questions the dwarf had lain awake asking himself. For that period of years, he placed some amount of blame for what happened on himself. There wasn't much he could have done, but still he wished he had done it.]
no subject
What have you been up to in the meantime? [Such a chill conversation. No problem at all here. He conveniently leaves out that he already has some vague idea thanks to a certain Tevinter; it'll confuse Varric less this way.]
no subject
[The disbelief was clear on his face, but Varric said nothing more. Did he really want to know why Anders was nonchalant about his death?
Maybe a little, but certainly not right now. Now he had a headache and desperately wanted a drink. Even worse? He had a feeling he'd have to wait to get the latter.]
Oh, you know. Saving the world. Being the voice of reason. Same old.
