Enable me / ATP: La Corda d'Oro
Winks Seductively
Hey there beautiful! Do you like mid-2000's anime/manga? Classical music? Reverse harems? Hot boys with technicolor hair?
La Corda d'Oro might be for you!
I know, I know. It's a decade old and damn is it corny as hell. I can barely sit through the opening and ending animations without cringing. But I hold a love deep in my heart for this hot mess. Was it because I was 16 when it came out, and I latched on to the characters while I was deep within my most formative years? Probably. Do I care? Nope!
The plot is almost deplorably simple. A girl, whom which the reverse harem revolves around, goes to the gen ed wing of a school that many musically talented students also attend. Every couple of years there's this big important music competition that both sides of the school takes part in. Our girl doesn't care a whole lot about this... Until a fairy gives her a magical violin!
It basically makes her a virtuoso almost immediately. The fairy harasses her into joining the competition, and she begrudgingly complies. Eventually, she learns to love music... And a whole gaggle of boys, who are also in the competition soon learn to love her.
After that, it's a fairly basic reverse harem show. The thing that sets it apart is the music. If you enjoy classical music, you will likely enjoy this anime. There are a lot of performances, which are recorded by professionals, and then put into motion with the magic of animation. It's a lot of fun to watch the characters play music! And they all care for it in a different way. You really pick your favorite based on their performances.
Both the manga (which I honestly enjoy more than the anime for it's plot, but the performances are still something you need to see to get a hold on each character) and the anime were inspired by a datesim game that has about... 6 or 7 iterations now? It's one of those things that has a real rabbit hole to go down it you want to be committed. Be warned though, it is, well, old. It's pretty hard to find content, whether it be canon or fan made material. The anime is on Crunchyroll, but I honestly have no idea where to find the manga online. And I apologize in advance for any headaches that might cause.
Anyways, I play Kazuki here, who's the green-haired trumpet player who is a total genki, and I find him to be a huge breath of fresh air. I would love to have the main girl, or any of the rest of the cast to play with. I love Kazuki's best friend, Azuma, and I've never been able to play with one in my whole life, and I'd die to get the chance! But again, anyone is fine!
Thanks for your time! If you've got any questions just comment down below and I'll do my best to answer them!
ATP: Final Fantasy IV/The After Years/Dissidia & Mobile Suit Gundam AGE
*Warning: Any excitement in this sentence applies only to the player, not the character. Cecil does not want to see Kefka's face in Johto, thank you very much.
Mobile Suit Gundam AGE is a story of war! Family! Friendship! Giant robots! Somewhat dubious pacing! There's so many characters in there, there's no way you won't find one you like. Hell, in most cases you even get to pick between two or three different decades to take them from. Imagine all the potential time-related shenanigans a large cast could deal with! Imagine end-of-series!Asemu arguing with episode-35!Flit while early-Gen-2!Zeheart tries to look harmless and end-of-Gen-1!Yurin enjoys life once more!
By the way, Ash has now reached eighteen years of deadbeatness. Let's fix that with a Kio or a Romary, shall we?
ATP: Haibane Renmei
Heeeey there, do you like early 2000s anime? How about anime that starts out nice and happy and gets sad by the end of things? What about Good female characters with motivations and struggles?
Then Haibane Renmei might be just your thing.
The plot is fairly straightforward: a girl wakes up inside a cocoon with no memories of herself or the life she lived up til that point, and is told that she's a "Haibane", a race of winged people who just seem to appear in this little, quaint world and have glowing halos. Slice of life situations and drama ensue, with beautiful and lively music orchestrated by the composer behind Shadow of the Colossus!
Right now, there's only Rakka, the main character, here. And it would definitely be amazing if any other Haibane (especially Reki) could come and hang out in nice and sweet Pokemon world. Just think of all the things they'd be able to talk about, or everything that Rakka would need to explain now that they're Human.
ATP: SILENT HILL
Hey! You've probably heard of a little survival horror series known as Silent Hill, so I'll keep this short. It's a series of games (and two movies we don't talk about for the most part) that are all about psychological horror, twisted nightmare worlds, cults...and deeply flawed, broken people who are either trying to escape, trying to survive or looking for someone lost within Silent Hill.
So why not bring those people to Johto for a grand old Pokemon adventure? We currently have Heather Mason (SH3), Henry Townshend (SH4) and Walter Sullivan (SH4) in the game and we'd all be very happy to welcome more characters, both from those games and from other entries in the series!
The three of us all understand that in a series like Silent Hill, there's a lot of room for interpretation and headcanon to shape how a character is played. Even when we have had different ideas or opinions, it hasn't held us back from playing our respective characters together and fully enjoying how our characters have grown and changed during their time here. And how in some ways they haven't changed at all! So please do consider checking VR out, especially if you like the idea of taking a horror character and dumping them into a world full of bright, adorable fighting monsters they can raise.
