There are good and bad sides to all worlds. Or at least that's my experience in talking to people and coming from my own to this one.
There are good things and there are bad things. What matters most is that we treasure the time we have with the people who become our friends and do our best to make things better, even if the world is dark and sometimes filled with terrible people.

Where I came from...there was no light. The world was corrupt to it's core, stained by humanity.
This place is better. Even if it has the potential to be cruel, it is not...it's not where I came from. The Pokemon are...little angels, in their own ways. [ He glances to Source again who is immediately pleased and gives a distinctive laugh, opening her fan and hiding her mouth. She's a character, but she's good. ]

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you can find something better here.
[And he does. And he would even if he knew who you were.]
My own world....wasn't the best. It did cruel things, it had terrible people. I lost...so many people. But my daughter was there and she was my light. Sometimes all it takes is one person to live for and everything can be a little better.

...I do have something better here. Anything was better than where I was...and what I was. [ He murmurs, so softly. Another Pokemon approached off screen with a cry, evidently to Walter. It sounded like a Marowak. He gave the off-screen Marowak a smile. ]

[The thing about Harry is. ...he really, honestly is. Total stranger but he thinks people deserve to be happy.]
If things get bad here though, feel free to give me a call. I know we just met but ...I know what having nothing to go back to is like.
[Being dead does that, doesn't it Walter.]

...why would you do that for me? [ It had been a year but total strangers showing any kind of kindness...it's not something Walter will really adjust to. ]
no subject
Because I can, I suppose. I don't really need a reason to help people. It's just...the right thing to do.

Thankfully his Pokemon disagree. The Litwick smacks him with her fan and is clearly giving him some sass, and the unseen Marowak protests and nudges against his side, given how Walter has to adjust his balance. ]

[He smiles at the Litwick. Like he still has no idea who this guys is but yes good job pokemon team.]
And sometimes it's not about what you think you deserve.

"It's not about what you deserve." He remembers someone who's been telling him that quite often. ]
...Heather keeps saying that. That, this place is not about what we think we deserve.

[Wait, wait..]
Heather Mason?

You knew her?

I do actually. I'm her father. Harry Mason.
