[Not that it would matter. He knows very well that he has nothing to return to. It does leave a bit of an ache in his heart that he won't see his family one more time, but that's just how his cards were dealt.] Ah, but I can't lament on such things. I will just have to make the best of an odd situation.
A pleasure!
[Haurchefant has friendliness in spades. He will make up for what Sidurgu lacks.]
It would do me no good to adopt the same views that my nation holds. I see many an adventurer that goes through that fortitude. I would be no host if I were not hospitable when one is weary of travel in the cold! [He is still proud to be from Ishgard, but he knows that the views there are something he cannot agree with.] I am sure that it will change in due time! There are those that wish to change those views and I would put my life down for them to see it happen!
[Oh wait-]

[In a way... While Sidurgu finds this place annoying at the best of times, he can't deny that the peacefulness of it is in ways enjoyable. He only wishes that Rielle could be here with him to relax in such a peaceful realm...]
Rare are Ishgardians who wish to be humble hosts to those they see beneath them, and rarer still are those who would entertain the mind of change. However, it would seem your sentiment did not go without its effects.
[Yeah bro, he knows you laid your life down, and that you had a bit of a hand in the change Ishgard has been weathering. Though, his deeds are not quite as recognized as that of Ser Aymeric and the Warrior of Light, but between the Warrior of Light's association with him, and perhaps Haurchefant's own drunkard of a half-brother, with lips just as loose as they are tightly locked with a tankard of ale—well, word spreads fast to those with the ears to hear them.]

[He isn't ignorant to the stark differences between the rich and the poor. It's not something he witnesses too often given his station keeping him out of Ishgard's walls for long periods of time. One does not simply forget the suffering of the poor though.]
House Fortemps has always been a bit odd in its views, I suppose. It would be rather cumbersome to fill our ranks if we were not to seek help outside of our own men. We were already pressed for men given the increasing attacks from dravanian forces. Some of my best men are sellswords and those that are not loyal to my house and adventurers have been nothing but helpful when we required aid.
[Haurchefant's expression seems to soften at Sidurgu's comment. There's an almost tired quality to it. He immediately perks up though.] Splendid! Splendid! What joyous news to hear. I am almost jealous I will not get to see it with my very own eyes. [Either because he's here currently or because he won't live to see that day and knows it.]

With an indignant scoff, he lets his eyes fall away from the feed of the camera.]
If more men saw the world through your eyes, a great deal of strife would not be suffered as long as it has.
[Haurchefant's reaction isn't unexpected, but it's a little sad. Here is a man who understands the struggles of those who have worse fates than him, and is probably a great deal responsible for the shift Ishgard was allowed to experience, yet he's been laid to rest, and gets to witness none of the change he had a hand in.
The fates are cruel, and perhaps the gods even more so.]
Right, then. That is neither here nor there, so I find it pointless to waste more time than what's necessary on such matters, particularly when we aren't even there.

[He isn't naive to think that pretty thoughts will change things either. Actions speak louder than words.
It's probably sad, but it doesn't seem to be something that the other is going get down over. If he were given a choice to die at that moment; he would take death over and over. The idea of harm coming to them...he wouldn't forgive himself for not trying.]
Apologies! You will have to forgive me. It seems like you are more knowledgeable of what I know and I couldn't help but be a tad curious. It isn't very on topic to what I was originally discussing, is it?
