No worries. I don't think it'll get too far.

[Wally might not have his speed anymore, but his starter made up for it. Jay, Wally's Jolteon, had already taken off after the Meowth, and was already throwing Thunder Waves at the cat to slow it down.]

Or, hear me out, it could just be a pun. Y'know, a wyrm with a y in an apple instead of a worm with an o in an apple?

[The Snow White/Sleeping Beauty theory just felt a little too much of a stretch for Wally.]

Video:
[The video flickers on to a fairly handsome blond man, before being blurred for a moment as the nose of a Blitzle invades the camera view, quite close.]

Silver Bullet, you're in the way. Move you undersized beast. Not big enough for a saddle and in the way, what use are you?

[Presumably it is the man speaking as the Pokémon is moved out of the camera view, though the man seems to have no idea he's sending video at the moment. He's looking to where he'd pushed the Pokémon out of frame, even as that tilted at an angle with only one hand on the communication device. His expression softens lightly after a moment.]

Yes, yes... I know... you will grow up into a fine mare soon enough, we'll work on saddles then...

[He sounds lightly apologetic for his harsh words, and there's even a small hint of a smile when the Blitzle comes back in frame, to lip at his cheek gently]

Route 29 (Action)
Diego was feeling hungry, he'd already eaten all of the food that his 'mother', as she called herself, had packed for him, and by now he was willing to try just about anything. At the moment he is crouched beside the path, looking at a berry bush, which while not terribly strange in itself, is about the most common thing about what he's doing.

He's brought both arms to his sides, elbows tucked in, with his wrists raised in front of his chest, hands loose from them, except for where he's curled his fingers into 'claws'. He is also sniffing intently at the bush and the berries on it, no in deep long breaths, but rather in short, rapid sniffs, not unlike a dog or cat smelling something to identify it. "Doesn't... smell bad... but... I've never seen it... before." He mutters to himself, moving closer to keep sniffing at the berry.

He gives a small screech of surprise when his Blitzle decides to take interest in the berry as well, leaning in over top of the crouched man to grab the food from the bush and eat it. "Th-that was mine Silver Bullet!" He said, looking stunned.

WILDCARD- New Bark, as decided (CW: references to his death)

[personal profile] standless 2020-02-18 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
To say that Jonathan has had an odd morning would put it lightly indeed. To say nothing of the woman calling herself 'mom' (m..mother??? mom, well regardless she Wasn't,) there was the matter of waking up on a bed half his size when he should have been bleeding out and suffocating in the ruins of a ship. At least, he feels like that's what killed him. It was getting awful difficult to see, despite his eyes being open, so.

In any case, he's been given a bag, a rather decent looking lunch, a set of clothes...it's all very generous, even if he has no idea what this place is. Everything looks so very different from the countryside he's used to- the very construction of the houses, the aesthetic, the arrangement, the technology within.

He's pretty sure it's technology, anyway, can't quite be sure when you haven't seen much of it.

But for all that he's confused, if there's one thing he's good at it's keeping his head on his shoulders...even if the methods are odd. These ones are perfectly normal for now, as he sorts through his bag for the informative matters and finds a paper map.

It's soon been unfolded onto a local picnic table after the odd tiger-like dog he found (who he's named Blake because shush it worked) melts the snow off and dries the surface by sitting on it.

'Good boy! Wonderful!' is what Blake is rewarded with and soon enough he's got map down, book at the side, notebook open, and pen (what an odd looking thing is there really ink IN there?) ready. "Alright...if our measurements are correct, we are currently three days from the nearest settlement by foot. Considering the eagerness of the woman in that house, I don't imagine it best to remain here for long. ...There is as well a ferry..." If he wants to use two-thirds of what is in his wallet anyway...evidently what he's been given is pocket change.

It's unclear who he's talking to if anyone, but maybe someone's making the guess anyway.

Or maybe they just 'woke up' as well.

Diego's waking had been just as confusing, remembering his success, he'd taken care of that arrogant piece of trash, and then.... Well, he was waking up in a small bed and being encouraged to get up by a woman trying to claim to be his mother. That had not gone well and even after he was outside he was snarling at the house, looking rather aggressive as the skin from the corner of his mouth and back split open to show sharp teeth.

At the moment he was standing not too far off from the same picnic table in use, gently running his hand down the side of the equine that had decided to stick to him. She gave off a lot of static discharge and he was hoping to get her groomed properly to help with that. "Which way is the most efficient to get away from that place and the woman inside with her lies?" He asks. The large man may not have been talking to him directly, but he wasn't going to let go of an opportunity to not have to review things himself.
standless: (just very disappointed)

[personal profile] standless 2020-02-18 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh-

There's someone there.

Jonathan turns, starting to answer- "Hold on...you also woke within that house? I can't have been outside for more than a few hours!" he exclaims in shock. "Just what manner of an afterlife-"

He doesn't get to finish his statement, instead blinking owlishly at the young man before him. That helmet- "...Di...o..?" It. It isn't him, that much is obvious. That's a different face, and a very different height (you're so small, sir,). But...

...Right the map. "I've been studying the map in the backpack presented as I made my way out of the house," he explains, gesturing behind him. Blake, meanwhile, is hesitantly moving over to sniff at the new fellow. "There appear to be two ways out from here, but both of them take a small number of days before one reaches the next settlement. I can't be certain of anything edible here, given the strangeness of it all as well...proper planning will be key, there is no doubt."

....

"If I may ask... ...what is your name?" That helmet is going to bug him.
scaly_monsters: (Look to the skies)

[personal profile] scaly_monsters 2020-02-18 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I unfortunately woke there, yes." He said with a huff, before the rest of the other's statement reached him and he stared at the large man in confusion. "Wh-what do you mean, afterlife?" He asks, giving a sharp, acidic laugh. He'd triumphed over the piece of filth that called itself a president, he had come out the victor, there was no way this was the afterlife.

But then, why did he suddenly wake up here? What was going on?

"I am Diego Brando, though most call me Dio, the genius racer." He said, offering a self-assured smile to the dark haired man.

Three days would be a while with no additional supplies, though he'd faced worse odds on the race. Still, traveling it alone in such a strange place was probably unadvisable. "Personally I would much prefer to go by foot, at least until I am sure of what this landscape has to face."
standless: (muffled `ohno`)

[personal profile] standless 2020-02-18 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh. Well. "Oh- my apologies for assuming, it's merely..." How does he put this gently. "...Between the chance in location, and what I was doing last, it seemed the most logical conclusion- as illogical as it may seem in itself. I simply could not find any other reason to appear in such a place after undoubtedly meeting my end in a burning ship. Even my wounds have healed," he goes on, hand over his throat briefly.

As he steps aside- if Diego wants to look at the map for himself, he can now after all- he only barely manages to hold back a choke.

Instead- "...Is it really?" Goodness- "My goodness...I wonder if I knew a relative of yours then," he mutters, frowning. Right, he probably shouldn't. Erm. "I can hardly justify asking more without giving any answers in turn myself," he determines instead. "It is hardly a polite misstep after all...my name is Jonathan Joestar however," Jonathan introduces. "It is a pleasure to meet you despite all circumstance." The circumstance being. Uh.

Whatever is going on. "For myself, I've been considering foot to be the better option as well- I do not believe I am quite ready to be taking boats again for a while..."

"Growf!" The growlithe barks, albeit unaware of what he's agreeing with.
scaly_monsters: (Crack in the mask)

[personal profile] scaly_monsters 2020-02-18 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Before his waking up? He found he didn't want to even consider thinking about that any further, no, he'd won and this was his victory. Somehow. Right?

"I honestly would not be able to tell you if you did or did not. I'm not particularly close with my family." Better to avoid questions about family from the start, the last the he wanted was anyone poking at his history.

"Joestar? If that isn't a familiar name." He looks Jonathan up and down a moment before he smirks to himself, thinking that the American part of the family must be runts. "Well you are far more agreeable company than Johnny, that is for certain."

He moves closer then to look over the map with a judgemental eye. "Wouldn't take long on horseback, but Silver Bullet here is to small still to carry even me. I wouldn't risk the damage of riding her too young if at all avoidable." He admits. "But if you are amicable to teaming up for travel needs... I would not object to that myself."
standless: (smile! :D)

[personal profile] standless 2020-02-18 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Another Joestar as well?" Well then! "I never even realized I had family elsewhere!" What a surprise! "I cannot say I'm surprised to hear there was no closeness however- from what I heard of Dio's father, he was an unpleasant person to be around..." Hard to say whether or not it could be said for Dio himself. He's of very mixed feelings on that, what with a good 8 years of their growing up having been spent in an odd sort of limbo before everything crashed down. Was any of it real?

It hurts his head to think about, so he focuses on the upsides. "I shall take that as a compliment," he chuckles. "I cannot say I mind your company either." There's a roughness, but at the very least if Diego seems to be anything it's honest in the roughness. Jonathan's far from the sort to think about being stabbed in the back, but at the very least it feels like he can Expect any insults that do arise, and there's an odd comfort in that after all of it.

"If I were to wager a guess I would say Silver Bullet is whoever you found while within that house- I myself found this fellow here..."

"Rff!"

"...They seem to have curious abilities despite their size; his fire is the very reason this table is even usable with the weather." With that in mind- "Keeping close to what is familiar is an idea that I would certainly be fool to ignore. Combining our own skills as well should undoubtedly make the trek much easier." He nods, and goes so far as to hold out a hand to shake on it if the other so desires. "You shall find no objection from me, Diego."
scaly_monsters: (A drinking problem?)

[personal profile] scaly_monsters 2020-02-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, well... I have nothing good to say of my own. But there other things more worth discussing." He said with a bit of a nod.

Between the hand outstretched toward him, and the comment about not minding his company Diego pauses a moment, before reaching out to take the hand offered. His grin has an eerie look to it as that crack running from the corner of his lips to nearly his jaw hinge opened as well. "I am glad to hear it, Jonathan... Or do you go by JoJo? Johnny never seemed fond of it, though he always was a bit odd."

The Blitzle paws at the ground with a good, her mane flickering at a cheerful pace. "Yes, while she doesn't look like Silver Bullet the first, I felt it best to remember my good racehorse to her." He admitted, with a small bit of tenderness for the equine. "I would hazard a guess that she has some affinity for electricity, or in the least, static."
standless: (smile! :D)

[personal profile] standless 2020-02-18 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course." Oh, if only they knew.

Still- they shake on it, and soon Jonathan is being introduced to-

"Oh! You weren't putting it lightly when you said young...I haven't seen many horses and their kin in life, but this is smaller than any foal I've ever seen..." And what a cute thing it is! "With markings like those it's as good a guess as any... ...Actually I had almost named Blake after my childhood dog- though I am now relieved that I decided otherwise. To be renamed through a fire dog feels fairly cruel to their own memory."

Doesn't take much guess to say the dog was killed by fire. Ah, but nicknames!

"Joj- Hah!" He seems amused, if anything. "That was a nickname in my youth actually...though more than a few use it even now," he admits with continued cheer. "It would be rather silly to simply refuse that now." Much as Dio used it, so did more than a few of his fellows after all so...

Who said that? Come out, who ever's there.

"She is quite small, but I'm inclined to think she may be a zebra, rather than a true horse. Either way, with four legs and hooves I expect she will grow to be a proper size to ride. Though I wouldn't put her to race with me riding... or without me riding. I wouldn't trust another to ride her properly, but I'm just a few inches to big, unless she grows a spectacular amount." He says, a certain fondness for the equine animal showing on his face.

He decides to not call any attention to the idea of what was most likely to have happened to the dog Jonathan was talking about. "Blake if a fine name for such a loyal seeming beast." He said instead, nodding in a kind of approval, though his wasn't really needed.

"It's at your discretion. If you would like me not to, I will refrain... as best I can. But if you are fine with me using it, I will most likely use it as much as needed." He admits.

Poke... this?

[He looks at the device and finally is properly looking at the camera again, the crack not quite disappearing as his expression smooths out, but becoming much harder to notice.]

This thing is a telephone? But how? It's not connected by any wires?

[He has no clue that it's broadcasting his image either as he moves it around to try and find where a wire might be running from.]

And it's rather small for a telephone as well.

What in the actual hell is she witnessing right now? Lydia's quiet as she's keeping an eye on what's going on, staying a good distance back with a brow raised in curious question. Her hair is pulled up, making her pointed ears insanely obvious, and she's flanked by a rather uninterested vulpix and a zorua consistently shifting its weight between front and back paws.

Aaaand that's a mess as she already figured that blitzle would decide to steal the berries right from under him.

"Pretty sure you can't eat those. But I'm not entirely surprised that a human would have to eat them first to actually get that particular point. Generally trying to eat wild berries is a poor choice." Says the woman who's sounding a lot less amused than her demeanor would suggest.

He straightens up with a mild hiss at the sudden voice, turning just his head toward her, eyes narrowing slightly. Excuse her? Just what was she trying to imply?

"I happen to know a large variety of berries that are completely eatable." he stated, his chin lifting as he stands up straight. "I even have a superb sense of smell and can tell hazardous berries from perfectly safe ones with absolute ease." he says. He is lying and he knows it, for some reason he really can't smell anything all that well anymore, or he would have smelled her before she saw him, but he's not about to let on to that.

Goldenrod

Typically, typically a change of scenery and not being in the Eternal Stockades would be real nice. Except that Lydia has, unfortunately, learned rather quickly that there's a while lot different than not being stuck in a jail cell. Mostly that she's fleshy, luckily in the form she'd normally taken even as an illusion, and having the unfortunate time of realizing she has to take care of mortal needs again.

Food, water, that whole mess isn't something she's too keen on thinking about. Nor is she particularly pleased to be cut off from both her necromancy or illusion spells, even cantrips don't seem to work.

But she's having to get used to it and is huffing softly to herself as she's leaning against a wall and side-eyeing the other "new recruit", as they'd called them, who's having to listen to this "admin" drone on about the finer points of theft.

"Honey, I picked pockets and stole from people all the time as a child. I don't know why I'm even having to listen to you ramble on while you've probably only learned this in the last few years while I've had hundred of years to learn this." Her voice is absolutely dripping with sarcasm and pure annoyance along with a sickeningly sweet meaning on top of it all.

Elves.

Pokegear

While I appreciate the quaint atmosphere the cities here seem to have, I'm getting real sick of seeing some of the most boring fashion known to Faerun around here.

There has to be a good place to get something actually good, hell, I'd even take designer nonsense right about now. I cannot with this absolutely drab garbage.

While I'm thinking about it, is becoming a fleshy nonsense mortal a normal thing around here? I appreciate the thought, the whole being absolutely gorgeous thing, but I miss not having to worry about eating and drinking.

Trust me, this sucks.

That hiss probably should have concerned her more than it did, she's not even flinching and is merely rolling her eyes at his whole little spiel. Honestly, she doesn't really care what he does or doesn't do, but she's bored and he's being stupid, thus free game for her.

"This isn't where you're from, sweetheart, or did you not get that little memo? Those berries don't look like anything I've ever seen before and, given some of the looks I got, this sure isn't where I'm from." She doesn't know where he's from, but that's anything but important to her.

"If you had such a great sense of smell then wouldn't you have smelled me and wouldn't have been surprised?" She has your number, Diego.

It's wireless. You're from the past, aren't you? [If Jack can be from god knows how many centuries in the future, this guy can be from the past.] Well. Past relative to when I'm from.

This device is kind of like a telephone. It's kind of like a lot of things. Or-- maybe it's more like a radio. The point is, you can accidentally talk to people on it if you're not careful.
