Training, Steven thinks, would be easier if his Contracts still worked. Even if he hadn't been able to use Darkness for more than keeping their rented bungalow safe and skulking around at night without being seen, he knew the kinds of things that other people had done with the more advanced clauses. Being able to make people stay asleep or to scuttle down walls like a spider would have come in handy during this damn week of larceny bootcamp--and he can't believe he's actually trying to get good at this.

God, it wasn't like he wanted to be a criminal. He'd just come adrift in this weird other world, his body somehow restored into its default state, and been immediately press-ganged into what he was privately coming to think of as the Pokemon mafia. The Pokemafia?

Whatever. Organized crime with a really stupid uniform. At least they were going to release him into the wild soon. Maybe, if he was lucky, he'd even get off this stupid roof by then.

"How much longer do you think it'll be until the coast is clear?" he asks his companion under his breath.

Right. This might sound like an odd question to ask... but has anyone ever physically changed after being here for an extended period?

After an extended period of time? Not that I know of. People's bodies are changed into human ones upon their arrival, but I don't think I've ever heard of anyone changing over time, not beyond the normal changes of aging, that is.

Because when he turns, there's a man who looks to be in his mid-twenties, wearing a overly large singlet and underwear and nothing else; with one hand on a fat little Duskull that is glaring daggers at the uniform Steven is wearing. "Because I will shove you off it before I call the cops."

february's like the right season for this kinda thing right
personal ads and junk

figured id' put out a line or something, see what happens

i'm looking for like a really good rival?

ideally a real goody twoshoes type but i'll give a grumpy antihero a shot, thy're popular these days right
musical ability's a plus, we could have some real rockin sing-offs during battle and stuff
but i'm willing to work out themeing and junk one on one, i'm flexible
all i really ask for is passion and creativity vis a vis trying to foil any schemes i come up with

Okay okay okay, so.

[The video is slightly awkward, tilted at an odd angle down at a large basket full of Applin. Murphy is managing to hold it both arms while also juggling her Pokegear - all of which is made more awkward by the shifting mass of wiggling fruit-Pokemon.]

They look like apples, obvi. And Dexter says they're part dragon. Which- sure, yeah, I seen weirder dragons since getting here. But- whoop.

[She stops a second to nudge one of the Applin that's attempting to clear the lip of the basket back down inside it, before it gets high enough to actually risk falling.]

Careful there. But, point is, apples and dragons. That's like a couple myths or fairytales sort of wrapped up in one. Like- okay Snow White didn't have a dragon in it, but it could have. The queen could turn into a hag, she could probably manage, like, a small dragon. That kind of thing never actually WORKS, but sometimes it's about style, you know.

[Murphy pauses, mentally jogging to catch back up to her own train of thought.]

But- uh. These things feel like they're probably kind of significant, you know. Or they should be.

[With a loud crash of glass, a Galarian Meowth has dropped from the ceiling, shattering a display case of evolutionary stones. After shaking itself off for a second, it deftly bites onto one of the rocks and dashes off at high speeds.]

Oh noooooo! That cat grabbed one of the stones!

[Helpful commentary offered by a short, tan-skinned woman in slightly too-theatrical distress.]

Someone should go catch it. I can watch here, it's fine.

[The video flickers on to a fairly handsome blond man, before being blurred for a moment as the nose of a Blitzle invades the camera view, quite close.]

Silver Bullet, you're in the way. Move you undersized beast. Not big enough for a saddle and in the way, what use are you?

[Presumably it is the man speaking as the Pokémon is moved out of the camera view, though the man seems to have no idea he's sending video at the moment. He's looking to where he'd pushed the Pokémon out of frame, even as that tilted at an angle with only one hand on the communication device. His expression softens lightly after a moment.]

Yes, yes... I know... you will grow up into a fine mare soon enough, we'll work on saddles then...

[He sounds lightly apologetic for his harsh words, and there's even a small hint of a smile when the Blitzle comes back in frame, to lip at his cheek gently]

Route 29 (Action)
Diego was feeling hungry, he'd already eaten all of the food that his 'mother', as she called herself, had packed for him, and by now he was willing to try just about anything. At the moment he is crouched beside the path, looking at a berry bush, which while not terribly strange in itself, is about the most common thing about what he's doing.

He's brought both arms to his sides, elbows tucked in, with his wrists raised in front of his chest, hands loose from them, except for where he's curled his fingers into 'claws'. He is also sniffing intently at the bush and the berries on it, no in deep long breaths, but rather in short, rapid sniffs, not unlike a dog or cat smelling something to identify it. "Doesn't... smell bad... but... I've never seen it... before." He mutters to himself, moving closer to keep sniffing at the berry.

He gives a small screech of surprise when his Blitzle decides to take interest in the berry as well, leaning in over top of the crouched man to grab the food from the bush and eat it. "Th-that was mine Silver Bullet!" He said, looking stunned.

To say that Jonathan has had an odd morning would put it lightly indeed. To say nothing of the woman calling herself 'mom' (m..mother??? mom, well regardless she Wasn't,) there was the matter of waking up on a bed half his size when he should have been bleeding out and suffocating in the ruins of a ship. At least, he feels like that's what killed him. It was getting awful difficult to see, despite his eyes being open, so.

In any case, he's been given a bag, a rather decent looking lunch, a set of clothes...it's all very generous, even if he has no idea what this place is. Everything looks so very different from the countryside he's used to- the very construction of the houses, the aesthetic, the arrangement, the technology within.

He's pretty sure it's technology, anyway, can't quite be sure when you haven't seen much of it.

But for all that he's confused, if there's one thing he's good at it's keeping his head on his shoulders...even if the methods are odd. These ones are perfectly normal for now, as he sorts through his bag for the informative matters and finds a paper map.

It's soon been unfolded onto a local picnic table after the odd tiger-like dog he found (who he's named Blake because shush it worked) melts the snow off and dries the surface by sitting on it.

'Good boy! Wonderful!' is what Blake is rewarded with and soon enough he's got map down, book at the side, notebook open, and pen (what an odd looking thing is there really ink IN there?) ready. "Alright...if our measurements are correct, we are currently three days from the nearest settlement by foot. Considering the eagerness of the woman in that house, I don't imagine it best to remain here for long. ...There is as well a ferry..." If he wants to use two-thirds of what is in his wallet anyway...evidently what he's been given is pocket change.

It's unclear who he's talking to if anyone, but maybe someone's making the guess anyway.

Or maybe they just 'woke up' as well.

It might be sooner than you think. Pokemon don't grow normally--they do it all at once.

What in the actual hell is she witnessing right now? Lydia's quiet as she's keeping an eye on what's going on, staying a good distance back with a brow raised in curious question. Her hair is pulled up, making her pointed ears insanely obvious, and she's flanked by a rather uninterested vulpix and a zorua consistently shifting its weight between front and back paws.

Aaaand that's a mess as she already figured that blitzle would decide to steal the berries right from under him.

"Pretty sure you can't eat those. But I'm not entirely surprised that a human would have to eat them first to actually get that particular point. Generally trying to eat wild berries is a poor choice." Says the woman who's sounding a lot less amused than her demeanor would suggest.

Typically, typically a change of scenery and not being in the Eternal Stockades would be real nice. Except that Lydia has, unfortunately, learned rather quickly that there's a while lot different than not being stuck in a jail cell. Mostly that she's fleshy, luckily in the form she'd normally taken even as an illusion, and having the unfortunate time of realizing she has to take care of mortal needs again.

Food, water, that whole mess isn't something she's too keen on thinking about. Nor is she particularly pleased to be cut off from both her necromancy or illusion spells, even cantrips don't seem to work.

But she's having to get used to it and is huffing softly to herself as she's leaning against a wall and side-eyeing the other "new recruit", as they'd called them, who's having to listen to this "admin" drone on about the finer points of theft.

"Honey, I picked pockets and stole from people all the time as a child. I don't know why I'm even having to listen to you ramble on while you've probably only learned this in the last few years while I've had hundred of years to learn this." Her voice is absolutely dripping with sarcasm and pure annoyance along with a sickeningly sweet meaning on top of it all.

While I appreciate the quaint atmosphere the cities here seem to have, I'm getting real sick of seeing some of the most boring fashion known to Faerun around here.

There has to be a good place to get something actually good, hell, I'd even take designer nonsense right about now. I cannot with this absolutely drab garbage.

While I'm thinking about it, is becoming a fleshy nonsense mortal a normal thing around here? I appreciate the thought, the whole being absolutely gorgeous thing, but I miss not having to worry about eating and drinking.

Trust me, this sucks.

"I don't want to- okay, I do want to brag, but I could probably take everything you have on you right now without you noticing. Can I do that, like as a way to get out of this class? Is that a thing we can do, like testing out?"

Bagging on this instructor may be the only thing they'll ever agree on, but for now maybe it's enough.

The person who answers her isn't the admin or her fellow trainee. Instead, it's a solidly-built, clean cut man with wire-rim spectacles who'd come in to drop off a pair of blue and red pokeballs.

"Doesn't matter," he says flatly. "We all have to suffer a week of training before they let us out in the wild. Suck it up and it'll be over before you know it."

[By now, this routine has gotten a little... old. She recognizes the music, even remembers the smell of the bedroom that isn't hers. There's even a Pokemon by her bed, waiting patiently for her to wake. She offers the creature a small smile -- this icy little thing with scattered spines isn't anything she recognizes, but there are so many creatures in this world that she knows it isn't so strange.]

[She moves quickly, with the sort of confidence of someone who has done this song and dance plenty of times over. She greets "Mom" with a wide smile -- she's glad to see that the woman is still doing well -- and then quickly makes her way out of the door.

She's got a lot of ground to cover if she wants to find her friends, and that's assuming they'll still be there. Nevertheless, she's never once hesitated to lend a hand. And if she spots any straggling newcomers, they will be approached with a careful smile. If they're not too tall, she'll even offer a ginger touch to the shoulder.]

Don't worry. It's strange, but you're safe here. I promise.

[All things considered, Angel is almost hesitant to make a post. This world has been so finicky with allowing her to stay in one place, that she almost doesn't dare risk getting any of her friends too excited.

But even if her disappearance has only been but a blink of an eye for her, she still misses her loved ones dearly.]

[It's just text, so technically there is no tone to it, but somehow, even with just one word, you can pick up on the slightly uncertain, budding excitement. Because is it really her? And she remembers, doesn't she? Could she really be back?]

On the plus side, this city is so much like where he grew up that he's acclimating pretty well, all things considered. And his Pokemon are pretty neat. He was a Pokemon kid as a kid.

Houndour and Natu aren't the ones he would have picked personally, but they're what he's got now. The Natu sits on his shoulder, watching him kneel and pat the Houndour that barks happily at him ruffling up its face and smooshing its cheeks up in a big scrunched up smile, before Tyler lets go and stands up straight, and makes a hand gesture at the canid Pokemon.

To which the dog sits.

A new gesture, and the dog stands.

Finger guns, and Houndour barks loudly as it lets out a burst of fire, and Tyler stumbles back in surprise. He's gotta get used to that.

Oddly, though, if anyone should try and call out to the trio, Tyler doesn't immediately respond; not until the Houndour or the Natu swivel sharply around to fix their sharp gazes on the source of the noise.
