Oh good, something to distract Steven from glaring daggers at the Olivine Gym, site of his ignominious defeat by Jasmine hardly more than a week ago. He's actually in town to get wine--there's some very good vintages easily available that are much easier to get here than back home in Goldenrod.

"I suppose he could be your goon," Steven says with a shrug, looking at the man who's either in cosplay or is a very confused otherworld transplant. He suspects it's the second. "I think the common title is pokemon partner, though. What Legion?"

Had Bane noticed that glare, he would have given Steven a little nod of understanding; yeah, bro, he gets it. Sometimes you've just got to brood and be sullen at your nemesis. It's all part of a healthy villain-nemesis relationship!

He glances up at the man talking to him, then straightens to his full height. The part about Pokemon partner he's just going to ignore, since he didn't understand it; he's got confirmation that this is a goon, and he'll take it. What's surprising is that this guy doesn't know about the Legion.

"The Legion of Dooooooooom!" Bane pronounces it with all appropriate gravitas. "You know, with Lex Luther and Scarecrow and the Penguin and Joshua?"

Joshua Cobblepot isn't a super villain, he's the Penguin's nephew, but he hangs around the Legion offices all the time and so Bane has accepted him as an honorary member.

Steven's eyes flare wide for a moment at the naming of said Legion members and he makes a note to mention them to Dirk later--yet another data point in determining what genre everyone's worlds were. And it was all too obvious what this man's genre of origin.

"Ah, they don't exist in this world," Steven says. "At least, not currently. They sound like they might be supervillains, yes? I'm afraid that if you're looking for villainy in this world, your main bet is Team Rocket."

[splosionreckoning]

Bane's face falls when Steven tells him the Legion doesn't exist here. "They're not here? There's no Legion?"

Well, shit. What is he supposed to do with his free time now?

Fortunately, Bane's pain is short-lived, as Steven offers an alternative almost immediately. "Tell me more about this Team Rocket. What kind of villainy do they do?"

And do they need someone who likes blowing things up?

They probably do, actually.

"Ah, they're the local organized crime?" Steven says after a long moment. "They're-- basically the pokemon mob. They steal pokemon and also whatever else they can get their hands on. They destroyed baseball in Goldenrod City?"

[splosionreckoning]

"They steal goons?" Bane glances down at his Machop. This goon is okay, but if there are better goons around, and he could get them by stealing...

"Baseball is a fool's sport." Bane says it decisively, nodding when he hears of its destruction. "Football is much better."

Says the guy built like a refrigerator.

"Is Team Rocket taking applications?"

did i forget to mention you were tagging with an actual member of team rocket???

"They do," Steven confirms. "And-- I believe they are. And I'm more of a wrestling man myself, but actually..." He looks this man over, weighing the likelihood that he really is exactly what he seems to be. Which is a somewhat goofy supervillain.

There's definitely room for those on the Team.

"Come with me," he says. "I'll take you to a recruiter."
