Thace feels a slight twinge of something that might blossom into jealousy if he let it when he sees that unlike him, she has kept her original species. He knows an Altean when he sees one, and he knows Leader has allied with Voltron and the Altean Princess. Not at all hard to put two and two together. So he's kneeling in Galra style even before she gets the first question out.

"Your Highness."

Then he looks up, blinks and answers the unexpected question with only a little stumbling. "I-- yes. It's in the ball; I wasn't sure if it was an ally or a means of surveillance."

The paranoia might be warranted, given what the last memories of home might well be for a Blade of Marmora.

Allura nearly jumps when the man kneels and addresses her like royalty. She is royalty, of course, but not on this world, and she'd lost so much before the end that she'd hardly thought of herself as such in a long while.

"How--" The question dies on her lips almost immediately. People are staring at them as they pass on the street, and Allura really doesn't want to make a scene. Who is this person? How does he know her? Tapping his shoulder, she shakes her head adamantly.

"Please, rise. There is no need for deference--we are equals here."

Urging him to his feet, Allura moves them along with a hand firmly planted on his back. "Your pokemon isn't a means of surveillance, it's your partner. And, if you let them, they'll be your friends, as well. Now, please, tell me how you know me. What is your name?"

"Of course," Thace says as he gets to his feet. It's a little awkward; his limbs aren't the lengths and proportions that he's used to.

He's quick to move along with her, hardly needing the hand for encouragement. "That explains the reaction it had to me, but I don't know where I am or how..."

Almost sheepish, he trails off and answers the question. "I'm Thace, a Blade of Marmora. Forgive me. It seems Galra traditions aren't visibly Galra in this... body."

She slows down once they get to a spot that's a bit less crowded. Listening to his explanation, she stops so that they can face one another and have a proper conversation. Rather than the mistrust that she had initially shown and felt for the Blades, there's a look of genuine excitement on her face.

"The Blade of Marmora! That... that's amazing! Keith is going to be thrilled!"

Knowing what she does of the fate of many of the Blades, a pang of guilt and sadness tugs on her heart, but there's a living member here, looking just as confused as she did on the day of her arrival.

"I'm so pleased to meet you, and I assure you that you are among friends. The Paladins of Voltron are here, but... this world is a different reality altogether than the one we originally came from. How and why we came here is a mystery, but one of my dear friends has been here nigh on four years now. It's possible you'll be here quite some time."

Then, after a moment of hesitation, she asks: "What is the last thing you remember, from before?"

His expression brightens into a soft smile at the mention of Keith's name but Thace answers the last question first with a simple matter-of-fact tone. "The hub in Central Command overloading past the point where it could be stopped."

He looks around him again, voice soft. "I never would have expected to end up in another reality."

"Before I judge it a good outcome, tell me the status at home."

Allura understands better than anyone how it feels to think your life is ending, only to wake up in another reality--a fact she keeps close to her chest for now. She also understands that the Blades face each new mission with the expectation that it might be their last. That doesn't necessarily make it any easier to face the end, though.

"The war is over," she assures him. "Zarkon is dead, and there is peace at long last. The Blade of Marmora has become something of a humanitarian organization. There were... casualties on all sides, but that is to be expected."

There's a rueful cast to her smile, but she's learning to accept what happened and move on. There are so many things to live for here in this world.

"Your actions saved us several times, and for that I owe you a great debt. I hope you'll allow me to repay you in some way."

At that the relaxation is immediate and the smile is open, if grim. "I'm glad to hear it and only a little regretful that I didn't live long enough to help directly with the healing process."

At the last part Thace looks thoroughly bemused. "What you've told me is more than I could have hoped for. I should be thanking you and Voltron for finally ending it."

"I'm only grateful that I could play even a small part in ending the war. Looking back, there are so many things I wish I could have done differently, but what's done is done."

That being said, Allura extends her hand to Thace.

"To new beginnings, then. I'm sure you'll enjoy this world. It's really quite beautiful, and if you're ever in need, you know that your friends are only a call away."
