So far. Soooooo far. And then this happens. She immediately freezes up. Whoa. This guy moves fast. She looks stunned - because she very much IS - at the moment, as her hand is taken...

And then she can't help it. She starts laughing, but it's not mocking laughter. She's snorting. This blindsided her.]

Pfffhehee--snrrk, snrrkk--heheheh....that's, um, a little much, but you're welcome.

[She's still snickering a little.]

Don't feel too in debt to me, 'kay? Consider us friends and consider it even, Karamatsu. Besides, I know your name now, but you should probably give your new friend a name, too...he's your partner, after all.

[As adorable as that was, my 10 emotional walls prevent me from declaring myself as such and falling into your arms instantly. Finn lets out a confused coo, staring at this scene with wide eyes. He's even more confused than he was before.

This still isn't too far off from normal on Veronica's standards.]

You literally just met her, you don't know that. Unless it's some kind of instant mental connection that just lets you know that your hearts are linked, and truly, you understand this beautiful creature's ways instantly, 'fore that is the strength of your bond.

[Is she being sarcastic? Yes. Does she say it bitterly? Not enough so that it cannot, fully, be taken at face value.]

[HM. Karamatsu listens, looking down into the bag. he finally pulls out the Pokémon Breeder book and flips through a few pages]

I see... So that is my calling. Heh.

[he snaps the book shut]

I will care for baby Pokémon. I will be a proud parent.

[Finn flutters up, perching onto Veronica's shoulder.]

I was told I'm supposed to be a....a trainer, I think? So I'm supposed to battle against gyms and get badges.

[She supposes this makes sense. Finn is pretty strong, it seems.]

...You'll probably need to collect more Pokemon too, if that's your calling.

[....She honestly has to wonder how that'll happen.]

[look, Karamatsu is a go-getter! he'll... make it happen, somehow. when he fails, he gets back up and tries again.

[he holds up the pokéball and presses the button on the front. instantly, the fish is transported back into the ball. astounding! what sort of technology is this. he'll just stare at the ball for a moment. staring at the ball itself, or his reflection in the shiny surface, one way or the other]

I think this will be an interesting journey, at least, miss Veronica.

[She watches as the fish gets put back into the pokeball, and she recalls Finn to his own, placing it into a pouch on her skirt. Why is he staring at the ball so intently. Why this.]

Interesting is one way to put it. Not how I expected to spend my summer. But...it's better than nothing. Until we find a way home, at least.

[At least she's dwelling on the murders she's accidentally done, because that happens a lot. But not now. So, hey, accidental unasked for vacation helped in one way!]

I...don't know. There's gyms, right?

My thought was that if I beat all of them...maybe they're hiding something. There's gotta be a reward at the end, if you beat everything, right?

There has to be a way. That's my best bet. This place seems nice, but I have people I need to get back to, so I have to find a way home. Somehow.
