Yeah, me neither. It's like this world doesn't have any magic at all, despite having cute adorable little creatures that can set things on fire.

[At least Luz recognizes the world she's in.]

Oh, um, I've been here... a week? I haven't seen Eda or King or anyone else I recognize.

Yeah, it's pretty weird... some of these creatures look like they'd be right at home on the Boiling Isles, but no magic? I'm not sure if we should be suspicious or not.

[She doesn't like it. She's worked too hard to refine her own abilities for them to just... disappear like that.]

... Wait, seriously? That's around when I woke up here. You... must've run out a lot faster than I did.

[Does she sound... slightly disappointed? Nah, can't be....]

Well, if this is anything like the games, we're supposed to be non-magical kids raising a team of powerful Pokemon...

[Luz trails off a bit, wondering if she should've admitted to the playing the Pokemon games. Is that too kiddy? Is Amity gonna think she's an immature baby?]

... I mean, the video game that I uh, played when I was younger!

[There. Luz puts her hands on her hips.]

Geez, we must've just barely missed each other. Well, I'm glad we found each other now!

[Luz's rambling just gets a confused tilt of the head from Amity. She's not like Gus, or any of the members of the Human Appreciation Society; all of this just kind of. Goes over her head.]

A what? Some kind of game? [????] You sound familiar with all of this... are you telling me the human world has monsters like this?

[Ah... there's something kind of cute about seeing Amity head tilt. Luz brushes that thought away quickly.]

No, no! Well. Not exactly. It's a virtual, role-playing game.

... Which thaaaat probably doesn't make sense either since the Boiling Isles doesn't have television. Wait, I know-

[Luz suddenly gets an idea, and pulls out her PokeGear. She remembers seeing some game options earlier while she was poking through it. She flips to the games section, and taps on Robot Rapidash Attack and then puts it down so Amity can see.]

-this is what I mean by video game! Something like this!

[Role-playing... she's heard some of the kids at Hexside talk about role-playing games. But from what she could gather, it's all dice and paper and math, not... this.]

So this is all a human thing.

[Once, that might have been said with a sneer. Now it's just... well. It's a little blunt, because she's just simplifying the information she's been given, but there's no animosity or anything behind it. She almost sounds... curious.]

If humans created this "video game", does that mean you know how to get out of here?

Well... the game ends once you get all eight badges and beat the Elite Four. So I guess we'd have to do that?

... We definitely need to make our Pokemon stronger first though.

[Her little Cubone isn't even ready for its first gym challenge. She vaguely remembers playing more than one Pokemon game, she can't seem to recall this game. Would the gyms be the same?]

[And... kind of a good lead. Ominous means powerful, and powerful means that they control more than what they initially let on. It's their best lead right now, at least.]

Do you think we should... uh. [She clears her throat, reaching up to scratch nervously at the back of her neck.] Maybe... teaming up will be a good idea? If they're as powerful as their name implies, it might be better. You know... strength in numbers.

[... Smooth, Blight. It's just a simple tactical plan that makes sense! Why did you ave to make it weird like that????]

Of course we can, Amity! We'll train a team that nobody can beat!

[Luz has a big grin on her face. Traveling a video game world with Amity? There's no way Luz is gonna say "no".]

Since I've never played this particular game... we should go sightseeing!

[Right. Sightseeing. Totally normal. It's not like some people consider stuff like that a kind of.... date activity or anything.]

Uh- yeah! [Another quick throat-clearing.] I mean... yeah, that could be nice. I heard there were some pretty neat places in this town to check out. Like the tower with the swaying support pillar inside.

Team... Azurite, maybe? [God. Just a month ago Amity would be annoyed at how nerdy that sounds. But now she almost sounds... eager?] It's not exactly the same, but... it sounds kind of cool, right?

That's it! The unstoppable Team Azurite! It's perfect.

[That gets a smile out of Amity; it's a little shy, and a little awkward, but it's a real, genuine smile.]

Unstoppable, yeah... I doubt anything in this world can be as tough or terrifying as Grom was. And the type advantages and disadvantages are pretty easy to remember, once you get the hang of it.

[She motions down to the notes she'd been making before Luz arrived.]

You can, uh... study them with me. I-If you want.
