It's a weird situation, but this is definitely not the afterlife. You're just - here! Everything's paused back home so when you do go back, you'll slot right into whatever was going on, and I've heard you don't remember being here when you're home, so there shouldn't be any conflict in that regard, but while you're here, you are one hundred percent alive.

[Almost immediately, that quiet and awkward air about him retreats, and Dimitri frowns. Slowly, he lowers himself down onto the ground, and the Tepig immediately heads over to him.]

[SPEAKING OF, there's the sound of brush being disturbed, and Dimitri turns his head to survey the Beedrill wobbling off defeated while his Nidoran bounces over. The Nidoran is, once again, kind of busted.... but hey.]

[Dimitri crouches down again, hands held limply out until the Nidoran smacks his front feet into them proudly.]

Still, aw, lookit that little guy, he's stronk. Dinah will offer up another Heal Pulse.]

See? He just needed a little boost, and he could do it himself. This world is kind of built around Pokemon competing against each other in fights like that.

[His Nidoran doesn't seem to mind this assessment, just happy to have his tiny purple face held inbetween two big hands. Some Pokemon are just that easy to please.]

If I'm not careful.... He'll end up destroyed.

Sir, I have been here for years, and I've never seen any case of a Pokemon dying. [Sure, they do die from old age as far as she's aware, but in battle? No, that's very rare.] As long as you let him gain experience and keep him healed, he'll be just fine. These ones in particular can get pretty big and strong, actually!

[Thank goodness Jane knows enough about Gen 1 to know that.]

[Keep him healed... Dimitri looks over to Dinah for a moment, pondering.]

[A second later, he blinks and looks up at Jane, too. Who is he asking this question to? Yes]

[On the one hand, titled "Jane the Heterosexual(?)", large man with deep voice asking about food preference, looking at her and her Pokemon. On the other hand, titled "Jane the rational human being", stranger asking her a weird question that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the previous conversation?

She's quite red-cheeked, by the way.

Dinah, however, just sort of tilts her head in confusion before chirping to herself. Dimitri's Pokemon will understand it as, "Well, spicy stuff, especially the red sauce that comes out of the bottle with the green cap, why?"]

[Tepig and Nidoran alike listen, the Tepig with a bit more understanding of what's going on (sort of). The former nods, squeaking out a thank you, before he looks up to Dimitri. Conversations with humans is a little difficult, but Dimitri seems to be paying attention. Dean the Tepig takes a shot, opening his little pig mouth to flare up the beginning embers of, uh, Ember.]

[Dimitri squints a little, slowly working it out. Being with parts of his soul has meant a lot of pantomiming when it comes to them. He supposes it's very symbolic that his soul can understand him, but he can't understand his soul.]

...Hot food, then?

[He's thinking of a different 'hot' but they can get to it when they get to it.]

...I haven't often ventured into the cities of purgatory... They are strange. I couldn't have imagined them....

Shucks, well...it wouldn't be fair if one of us didn't like the food, now would it? Maybe we can get soup?
