[Oh. Oh no. Oh GOD no. If there's one thing Jinx definitely doesn't have the patience for right now, it's a kid... however well-meaning they may be. Her only relief is that it's immediately apparent that the little girl is absolutely nothing like Gizmo. She doesn't hide her lack of enthusiasm, though after a moment her tiny unicorn leans on her with all the weight of it's two-foot tall body as if it's telling her to be nice.]

... Sure, why not.

Okeydokey! So! When you got here, you got an animal friend. It's called a Pok-é-mon! I like yours, it's really cute! I named mine Drampy. What's yours's name?

[Ah, the sweet distractability of a child.]

[Oh, oh right. Names. Uhhhh... Okay, well, there was one thing that'd she'd been thinking, but what if someone recognizes it?]

Uh- ... A-Amalthea?

[It's definitely supposed to be a statement and not a question, but you'll have to forgive her for the sudden insecurity. Despite her favorite book, her love of unicorns was not something she was actually permitted by most others.]

A-mal-the-a. [The way she sounds it out, it's clear Tiki's never heard the name before. Bullet dodged, Jinx. Still, after a moment of looking contemplative, Tiki beams.] I really like that! It's hard to say but it sounds pretty. So A-mal-the-a [with a deliberateness and determination to get it right on each syllable] is your friend, just like Drampy is mine! Sometimes they like to fight other Pokémon, but it's just for fun, like when knights do sparring. No one gets hurt for real, but the Pokémon get stronger and they get to play and the trainers get to meet each other and make new friends!

[Amalthea herself perks up and seems to be bouncing on her hooves for a moment at the mere mention of battling- seems like someone's ready, buuut...]

I'm not letting you do any of that fighting stuff until you can walk two feet without tripping.

[Jinx's tone may be flat, but you can see her still petting the little thing- it's not out of any sort of negativity. Now for the other toddler-]

So... do you do anything like that...?

Uh-huh, sometimes! Drampy is really tough, and I used to fight sometimes, too, so I'm good at being helpful when he's battling.

[girl you're twelve???]

We're a good team! And I make lots of new friends this way!

[It's easy to hide her shock at the fact that this absolute toddler has battle experience- Gizmo was like, seven, after all, and she started early too. But there's definitely a simmering anger that shows itself in a pinched brow, white(r) knuckles, and thinned lips for just a moment, maybe even too quickly to register in the girl's joy. She settles back to 'bored' with just a breath.]

Right... So these guys are tiny little furry blood knights, got it. What do they eat?

[Please don't be one of those kids who'd give the dog ice cream if they thought they wouldn't get caught.]

Drampy eats berries! I think different ones like different things but Drampy likes any berry we can find.

[The Drampa is moving its big head to nudge against Tiki's as she says his name, and she reaches to pet it as best she can.]

We need lots of them to keep him full, though...

Oh, they're not blood knights, though! No one ever gets hurt that bad. It's all just for fun. And Drampy's not tiny, he's really big!

[She's trying to position the camera to show all nine feet of him. It's not working very well.]

I didn't mean literally. It's a phrase that just means someone who really enjoys fighting- though sometimes it can be pretty dark. I didn't mean it in a grim way.

[Wait. Oh. Oh wow that was a big ol' dragon. Okay. O k a y. Not gonna freak out. Instead, she's just... gonna go back to Amalthea and the whole, surviving in this world with a small animal dependent thing.]

I could see this lil' lady liking berries... and I don't think she'll need nearly as many as your old man over there. What happens if she gets hurt or sick?

Oh! Okay. [She accepts this readily, at least. As she pat pat pats her dear Drampa's head, she muses,] Maybe you wouldn't eat so many berries if you could turn real small like me.

[She moves on quite quickly from that, though, at the opportunity to be helpful.]

If she gets hurt, you go to the Pokémon Center! There's one in every town and city. A lady named Nurse Joy runs it and she's soooo nice, and she'll take your Pokémon and heal them right up, like magic! And, and, it doesn't cost anything; if you just walk in and say you need help, you get it! It's really nice.

jinx is just very pouty if she cant fight her way out of things tbh

[Holy shit. Was this what universal healthcare felt like? (The fact that she had to ask that at such an age was kind of sad, actually.) But.]

And if I get hurt or sick? Is it like, pokémon only?

[She hates how foreign everything sounds on her lips in this world.]

Umm... Actually, I dunno! I bet if they can't help you at the Pokémon Center, someone there would know where to go, though. Like I said, everyone's really really nice.

—Oh, yeah! When I'm a dragon, I'm even bigger than Drampy. [YOU KNOW JUST REAL CASUAL] But I keep my power in my dragonstone so I can be with humans! I can't transform here, though.

[Excuse me? ... Wait, no. No, that... did make sense. She couldn't use her magic, after all. She couldn't just write off what someone said just because they. Seemed? Younger than her. Heck, dragon shifters were a thing, just painfully rare. Who was she to say 'no, this isn't true because I don't like it'?]

... Eh, fair enough. I lost my powers too.

[Nailed it.]

Still, that sounds so... unnecessarily uncertain. [Like she's gonna rely on the "kindness of strangers".] I like to know for sure I've got somewhere reliable.

[This is likely the easiest Tiki's talk of her draconic nature has been accepted, and there's a little sparkle in her eyes at it.]

Next time I go to a Pokémon Center, then, I'll ask for you! Then I'll use the Pokégear to talk to you again and tell you what they said, so you don't have to be uncertain. Hey, what kind of powers do you have?!

You don't... [It's probably the most she's got for guaranteed answers from someone else.] Okay. But if I find out first, I'll let you know. Okay?

[It still hurts, the loss of her magic. It's always been there, since before she was born. Sometimes she thinks she's more magic than flesh and blood. For it to be gone... and for this to be so casual... Jinx sighs, holding Amalthea close for a second.]
