Jinx nods, because of course the cookies aren't alive, until it hits her. Almost meekly, she looks up at the (much) taller man, with something not unlike a wince on her face.

"Is... that something you had to worry about where you're from?" And then she thinks of what she's seen in this world- living keyrings jangling about, possesed teacups and pumpkins, a dollop of whipped cream with a face-- "Is that something we have to worry about here?!"

Amalthea takes a moment from whinnying at her new friend to look up at her trainer. Jinx- Jinx you're overthinking things again. After a moment of nudging Jinx's leg, she looks back to the mudbray. Trainers are so weird, aren't they?

"Oh- uh. Her name is Amalthea..." Jinx says after a moment, blushing just a tiny bit at her little outburst. How embarrassing.

Aw, this poor kid. He smiles reassuringly. "If you are asking if my world had living cookies, yes. I would not say, however, that I was at much risk of eating them - or that doing so accidentally was likely at all, any more than it seems to be here."

It seems like that would be difficult to do without meaning to, unless one was paying very little attention. But he kind of appreciates the girl's concern, all the same. It's a nice contrast to the Witches' callousness toward the Cookies, creating living beings only to be consumed.

He supposes it's no wonder their actions led to their destruction at Dark Enchantress Cookie's hands, even if he can't condone her wiping them out.

More currently relevant: The girl seems to have calmed down again, while Earth Colt shares a baffled look with Amalthea. Millennial Tree Cookie kneels down carefully and offers a hand for the little unicorn to sniff. "She's very pretty."

no its okay! holiday season does that, even now.

... Was he trying to tell her that he- no, no, that. That's silly. And definitely not something she just refuses to consider for even more than a second. Absolutely ridiculous, never mind the things she's seen from home.

"Well... I. Suppose that's reassuring..." NOT CONSIDERING IT.

Still, she can't help but smile, because he's right. Amalthea's absolutely lovely, even if she still trips and gives her trainer a heart attack because do you know how delicate horse legs are? The fauna of this world are stupidly sturdy, but she's yet to truly internalize that. She watches fondly as Amalthea does sniff a bit before bouncing forward happily.

"I feel like I was being judged. But she is, so I'll forgive her," Jinx jokes with a put-on airy voice. "Is that one yours, then?" Obviously, but it's polite. ... Right? God, how do you do this 'being a nice person' thing-

Just don't worry about it, Jinx. It's fine. It's fine!

"She may have simply been concerned." He pets her gently, his expression brightening just a little further. "There are such incredible creatures wandering this place."

The Mudbray, meanwhile, trots up to stare expectantly at Jinx. His trainer is busy petting your starter, so guess whose turn it is for pets!! Millennial Tree nods at him. "He is; Earth Colt was by my side when I arrived. I assume the same was true of yourself and Amalthea?"

"I feel like I'm being surprised every day," she agrees, crouching down as well to comply with the mudbray's wishes. (Needy, adorable little things, the lot of them. She adores it, secretly.) In her opinion, he feels coarser than Amalthea, but it's less a complaint and more an observation. It's delightful.

"And yeah, she was just... there, I guess?" It was surprising when the unicorn, of all things, stayed however. But the nice stranger doesn't get (or need) to hear about that messy train of thought! "I've been wondering if what animal you get on arrival says something about you, but if it does I'm not sure what." ... She used to edit for her school's creative writing club, can you tell?

"Perhaps; it would only make sense that they have some kind of affinity for those they're paired to." Or maybe he's thinking of combi bonuses the Pets that seem to bond so easily to specific Cookies back home. But, hey, not like he could be blamed for seeing a resemblance.

"If there is a reason, it should become clearer with time."

Easy for the time-controlling tree god to say.

"Yeah, easy for an adult to say. I'm 15, impatient, and about to make a ruckus of it all." She says that, but given the light of mischief and the barely- by which I mean "not even bothered trying"- contained smile, the girl's clearly joking.

Still, she can't help but wonder why a unicorn for a teenage criminal? Sure, she'd helped Kid Flash, but she's pretty sure that doesn't make up for everything else she's done. If she even wants to make up for it at all.

Fifteen. Millennial Tree Cookie is very aware, often intensely so, of how short some beings' lifespans are - but sometimes learning what a brief time a specific individual has lived strikes him all the same.

He laughs quietly, finally standing upright again. "I suppose there is that to take into account. But what means do we have to seek out those answers more quickly?"

"Well, before... this-" And she makes a grand gesture in the air, because one cannot so easily gesture to 'being transported to another universe'- "-one of my hobbies was analyzing symbolism in stories... but it feels weird applying that to life."

She's going to stay crouched a bit longer, because the horses need doting upon and she might be tsundere about it but she's happy to comply. Amalthea, at the least, is happy to have her close by and leans upon her shoulder with all her weight... which is kind of a lot, as she's a baby horse, and yet not enough to truly make Jinx budge.
