[Marianne's not one to just, like, approach a stranger, but the Sobble clinging to his leg is... maybe slightly concerning?

... But Marianne is not alone and her Galarian Ponyta, just as concerned as she is, is certainly more daring. The small Psychic-type is going to wander over, making concerned noises at the Sobble.]

[Weird colored horses? That may be the most normal thing Azul's seen today.

That being said, he is but an unhappy merman who does not like most big land animals, so he's a little unsure about this horse approaching him and the Sobble.]

Can I help you?

[Said to the horse.]

[When the Ponyta is addressed, she looks at Azul for a few moments... and then pointedly looks back to the Sobble and back to Azul.

Although, before Azul can answer, Marianne does finally notice the absence of her companion and makes her way over, sighing.]

... I'm sorry, is she bothering you...? [And then to the Ponyta:] Celeste, please don't wander off like that...

[He doubts he can speak Animal here but the language of "I am judging you for not handling this problem" appears to be universal. Azul just stares at the horse.]

I think she's taking offense to the crying...creature. [He glances down at the Sobble.] What even are you...

[Celeste lets out a noise of protest--it wasn't judgment, it was concern!--as Marianne kneels down to get a better look at the Sobble.]

Poor thing... [She tentatively holds her hand out to the Sobble, to see if it'll be receptive to her touch.]

[NOPE now it is trying to climb Azul's pant leg to get away from the stranger!! Azul sighs and just. Bends down to pick it up.]

It won't stop crying and I have no idea what's wrong.

[Welp, there was an attempt. Marianne stands back up, dusting her skirt off.]

Did something happen that could have upset it earlier?

It just...seems to be prone to tears.

[Celeste peers at the Sobble, and Marianne sighs softly.]

And since I've never seen anything like it before, I have no idea what might help calm it down...

At this point, I'm starting to worry it might get dehydrated...

... We should probably see about offering it water at this rate.

[She doesn't know if that'll help specifically but, uh. DEHYDRATION BAD ANYWAY.]

[At "water", the little thing perks up. Still sobbing, but clearly interested.]

Do you have a water bottle, or should we try the pond?

I did buy one earlier. We can try that...

[She'll dig that out of her bag and hold it out to Azul.]

[He takes it, and the Sobble makes grabby hands at it!

And then opens it and dumps the water on itself.

Azul just stares.]

It must be amphibious.

[... That. Sure just happened. Marianne is also staring a bit.]

It must be...

[At least that's... something.]

Maybe some time by the pond wouldn't be a bad idea anyway.

[And so Azul will pick up his Sobble and head over to the pond, muttering to himself.]
