Hermione Granger | Harry Potter
[It had taken almost 2 full weeks to travel from New Bark to Lavender Town, and Hermione had set a breakneck pace for herself. She'd heard about the Forever-And-A-Day Ranch (too many unnecessary hyphens in her opinion - people's grammar these days, honestly...) and she was both eager and anxious to find out which (if any) of her pokemon from her previous visit were still here. It was absolutely not her way of coping with what had happened back home. Not at all.
There was just one problem...]
Did I miss it? I know it's supposed to be near Lavender Town, but there are 3 main roads leading out of town and a definite lack of signage. I really should raise this with the local town...council?
[She huffs, crossing her arms as she slowly circles, trying to figure out which way to go. A Galarian ponyta with a mane almost as crazy as Hermione's own bushy hair nudged her gently, snorting in her face, and she absently starts to pet it, eyebrows creasing in a frown as she surveys the area.]
B) Saffron City - Action
[Hermione is sitting at a cafe, sipping at a coffee and occasionally nibbling on some cold toast. There are several folded newspapers on the table near her, and she's flipping through the latest edition of The Saffron Times, taking quick, tidy notes in a thick notepad that appears to be full of colourful tabs.
An unexpected gust of wind launches the newspaper out of her hand and she jerks to grab it as it flies away.]
C) Network
[The feed clicks on to Hermione tapping a pen against her chin as she talks to the camera. Occasionally you might see a blue and purple mane brush across her face from the side.]
I don't suppose there have been any new developments or information about the way in which we're brought here or returned home?
Is there any statistical or census data available about how many people have arrived from another...well let's say 'world' for want of a better term...and then suddenly left, and then returned again? Any memory loss? Or does everyone retain their memories? What about timeframes? Has there been any correlation between the length of time from when one leaves to when one arrives again?
D) Wildcard
[Hit me up with any other ideas you have!]
B
Don't know how humans get on like they do... terribly sorry for almost losing that for you. You've got quite the collection forming.
[His voice was posh, and very English, and it took some effort not to try and snoop on the young woman's notes.]
no subject
Oh, thank you so much. And no need, I should have been paying more attention.
[She smiles sheepishly and gestures at the pile of papers.]
I'm afraid I got a little caught up in my research.
[She pauses for a moment, studying the man in front of her.]
Forgive me if I sound rude but.. are you British? It's just...your accent, you see....
no subject
Well... ah, I suppose you could say so, I've lived in London longer than anywhere else, as far as time is concerned - more years, that is - consecutively, you know. I've never spoken differently, even since the beginning, which... er, can I get you some tea?
[He was twisting a ring he was wearing around his pinkie, a nervous gesture, like he'd been caught out in a lie.]
no subject
Oh I'd love some tea! Just let me...
[She tidied up the stack of newspapers with the speed and efficiency of someone who obviously had experience in extensive research, making sure first they were in the correct order, and then shifted them to one of the chairs next to her, leaving the other two chairs free. Task done in less than a minute, she stood and held out her hand politely.]
Hermione Granger. Pleasure to meet you.
no subject
Lovely to meet you, Hermione. I'm Aziraphale, or Mr. Fell if you prefer.
[He led both the girl and his Indeedee up to the counter; the Pokémon patted the pastry display case, which had an array of poffins along with the normal muffins and cakes. Aziraphale nodded and looked to the employee at the register.]
I'll have whatever black tea you've got, cream and no sugar, one of your bitter poffins, and ah... what would you like, my dear?
no subject
I'll have a green tea please.
[She knelt down so she was level with the Indeedee and smiled. She hadn't actually seen one before, even though she'd had most pokemon names and species memorised. Male, if she wasn't mistaken, going by the shape of its horns. She offered a hand tentatively.]
Hello there. And who might you be?
no subject
Indeedee, meanwhile, patted Hermione's palm with one paw and ducked the under down under his chest to give a slight bow. He gave her a good-natured chirrup, too, which was about as close as he could get to legitimately introducing himself.]
Loving your Aziraphale btw! I'm currently rewatching Good Omens :)
[Order taken and paid for, Hermione led the trio back to the table, gesturing for both to take a seat and smiling at Aziraphale. It was nice to make a new friend, especially not knowing...
[She gave a slight shake of her head, pushing all thoughts of that to the far corners of her mind where she could analyse it later. Now was not the time.]
My treat next time.
I take it you haven't been here - this world I mean - for too long either? I only arrived about a week ago but I've been here before. I'm sure I could help if there's anything you'd like to know?
thank you!!
You've had plenty of soda today, Maxwell, have some proper hydration before the next one.
[It earned him a humph, but no further protestations. Aziraphale chuckled and shook his head.]
I thought you couldn't come and go? I've been here for... two months, perhaps.
Sorry for the delay!
Unfortunately as far as I'm aware, you can't optionally come and go. However apparently you can be sent back to your world seemingly at random, and then be brought back here again with no notice. It's frustrating that no-one seems to know why or how.
It's been about 2 years in my world since I was here last. I'm still trying to catch up with everything that's happened here since I left.
The good news or bad I guess, depending on the situation, is that you return to your world at the point you were originally taken. Or at least that was my experience.
[And what a shock to the system that had been.]
no worries!
[Aziraphale couldn't help but smile a little bit, turning the little paper cup in his hands. Finally, they were free, and he had just been separated again? But it helped to know that at least Crowley wouldn't miss him.]
There's no way to influence that randomness, I suppose. A pity.
