Ardyn | Final Fantasy XV
[So this was hell, was it?]
[It wasn't what he expected, but what else could it be? After all, there wasn't much left to him now. They could spout all their nonsense about being 'taken to another world' all they pleased, but for Ardyn the truth was obvious. Mortal and powerless in a place this obnoxiously bright and peaceful, populated largely by people so aggressively compassionate...such rampant idiocy could only be his own personal hell. Perhaps it was well-deserved, could he really argue that?]
[There wasn't much he could do about it even if he had an argument to put forth, and instead he'd wound up sitting beneath a tree not far from Bellsprout Tower, a glass bottle in his hand that contained only grape juice and disappointment--and a small creature curled up next to him in the shade.]
[Might as well get used to his eternal punishment.]
[ii; diglett cave]
[Tilting his hat back slightly to get a clearer look at the map in his hand, a man in a long black coat stood outside the Pewter City entrance to Diglett Cave with a frown.]
Let me see if I've a grasp of this situation. [He said that to no one in particular, except maybe the Zorua at his feet.] A relatively short trip through a straightforward cave, or some weeks crossing over a mountain with all risk of being lost or perhaps even dying horribly?
[The foxlike Pokemon flicked an ear and tilted its head as if in agreement.]
Well, that's an obvious choice, then, isn't it? [Ardyn pocketed the map and...turned on his heel, heading in the direction of Mt. Moon instead. The bewildered Pokemon looked from the cave entrance to its Trainer in unmistakably openmouthed shock before having no choice but to chase after him.]
[iii; wildcard]
[any other ideas you've got, i'm pretty flexible]
Violet City
Again.
So here she is emerging from Bellsprout Tower with an actual, honest-to-god bushel of grapes, looking worn out and dirty and yet resigned, like, yes, I knew this was going to be how this shook out, look at me in my metaphorical clown shoes. The Audino next to her is also carrying a bushel because sweet fuck they sure harvested a lot of grapes today.]
Am I going to have to dry all these out...? I have the room back home, sure, but Ribbon can't feasibly eat this many raisins...
[...Oh hey, who's this hobo man]
...Hey, sir? This is kind of out of the blue, but do you want some free grapes?
[Thank fuck there are no ducks around here]
no subject
[Either everyone here was severely concussed, or Ardyn was definitely in hell.]
Do you often find yourself with an overabundance of grapes to the point where you've no other option but to give them to the first pitiful soul you encounter?
[Sir, this is a mcDonphan's.]
no subject
[But it's happened at least one time and of course it was going to happen again.]
Just thought I'd ask is all. I have a Pokemon back home who loves raisins, and obviously I can just dry these to give to her, but at the same time she's small and I don't think she can feasibly eat all of this as raisins without getting sick. [She looks back at Sprout Tower.] You could also stop by the tower tomorrow and help the monks there with their grape harvest? They'll give you more grapes than you could ever want, if you don't want some of these.
[Ardyn, it's free grapes. They're free. You don't have to do anything to get them.]
no subject
I've no use for your pointless charity, and less interest in aiding them myself. Whyever should I?
no subject
[The Audino next to her casually peers at Ardyn, and then at his Zorua. Oh, she knows what this is! Hello, there is a fluffy pink creature coming over to share her bounty? Does fox want grapes?]
There's also only so much to do around here. I think the only other options, if you've already got a Zephyr Badge, is to watch Falkner's birds or...attend a school? And I am kind of too old to be at a school with ten year olds.

[Some people would just leave him be.]
[Elizabetta instead just walks right over.]
I don't suppose you mind sharing the shade, do you?
no subject
I mind a great many things, and yet am utterly powerless to prevent them.
[Wasn't a no.]
no subject
[Elizabetta, no- ]
[Or, apparently, Elizabetta yes, because she's just settling herself in the shade as well with her skirt neatly smoothed out underneath her.]
Isn't it better to find enjoyment in what you can't control?

Violet City
Excuse me? [She clears her throat. Beside her, her Lucario lets out a low noise -- not quite a growl, but a warning nonetheless.] Are you alright?
no subject
[The sarcasm was practically tangible, not at all helped by the snickering Zorua.]
no subject
Well -- I was going to ask if you needed any assistance. But since you're delightful, it seems I am not needed!
no subject
[i'm so sorry for him.]
I am quite certain I am well beyond aid in this miserable place.
no subject
Has something happened to you here?

violet
[To which the obvious response is to walk right on over, stare at him for a solid five seconds, then plop down to sit so close they might as well perch in his lap.]
Hi.
no subject
[This was something of a new experience, as more often than not people gave him an abundance of space. Gods forbid anyone have to interact with Ardyn on a professional level.]
...Can I help you?
no subject
[Yes, that is the entire reason they wandered over here with zero consideration for literally anything.]
What's your fox's name?
no subject
...Rakshasa.
[Utterly bewildered by this entire interaction, for once he had no smart remark except to give an actual response.]
no subject
That's a nice name. 'S it mean anythin'?

combo breaker (aka Diglett Cave)
I'm sure most would disagree with that being the obvious choice.
[The Milcery bobbing in the air behind Trey can't help but laugh a little.]
no subject
[to say the least. The Zorua who was now more or less sulking caught up to its trainer as if resigned to the fact that this was clearly happening.]
no subject
Any particular reason it's the obvious choice for you, then?
no subject
[He didn't make the universal airquotes gesture, but it was extremely evident in his tone.]
The wasted time means little to me, a journey through and over a mountain sounds vastly preferable.
[His partner made a quiet snorting sound that was likely meant to be understood as 'yeah, maybe to you']
