A. (At Burned Tower) Urban exploring is a perfectly fine and legal pastime
[Alright, so obviously people aren't supposed to go into the creepy burned out tower. She gets that. But also... look at it? That thing is like a magnet for Mystery Teens/Great Thieves by design. Kay wants to get in there so badly. It's probably full of treasure!

That's why she's staking out the entrance late at night like this. Concealed, up in a tree, waiting for any fellow wannabe explorers to happen by. Of course, she can't just, y'know... Introduce herself? Like a normal person?]

Hey! You! Over here! You going into the tower?

B. Sneasel used Thief!
[It could happen anywhere. You're just walking along, minding your own business, when something quite literally hits you. It's not a hard strike, more like a glancing blow, but it happens so fast your mind is still trying to play catch-up, even as the perpetrator pauses a few stops and turns to face you from a few yards ahead.

It's a sneasel. And in short order you realize, it now has a belonging of yours inexplicably clasped in its weird little scythe paws. Maybe it's your wallet, maybe it's a pokeball, maybe it just snatched the Rage Candybar right out of your hands just seconds before you were about to bite into it. Whatever it is, it's now in the possession of this weird little weasel-cat thing. And it's eyes... they're gleaming mischievously. Like it's daring you to try and take it back.

The sneasel's trainer isn't far off, but in the meantime, you're caught in a stand-off with a pokemon. You should probably choose your next move carefully.]

[ Rex stopped in his tracks, looking up into the tree above him. Was someone up there? He shielded his eyes with his hand, squinting into the dark branches. ]

[ Well, unfortunate for Yuzu, the most valuable belonging she owns is rather openly worn on her wrist. A beautiful silver bracelet with a glimmering pink gemstone. It's very important, at least to Yuzu, so once she spots the mischievious weasel-cat holding it...

Well, it's definitely a standoff. Yuzu in particular looks pretty annoyed... anxious, even. She just doesn't feel right without that bracelet on her wrist, and so she's already got one of her pokeballs in-hand while her Eevee (sitting poised on top of her head) has it's eyes fixed on the thief. ]

You've got one chance to give that back...

[ Unfortunately not the most intimidating thing to say when your entire facial expression screams nervousness. Seriously, she'd like that bracelet back, please and thank you. ]

[Having heard bits of the legend surrounding the tower, Namaari is definitely intrigued. The talk of rare Pokemon within doesn't hurt, either. Sure, she's not one to break the rules without reason... If the rules make sense, that is.

So she's scoping out the area to see if they do- If it truly seems to dangerous for her and Jangmo-o. The little Scaly Pokemon is close at her heels, and both turn, sharp and quick, at the voice calling out to them.]

[Meteorites and starshowers were maybe the closest things there was to home, secondary home anyway. Although even making it as far up the mountain she could go, it was still not quite the same...]

B. Shenanigans

[No matter where you are; you turn away for one second, then back around, and witnessed some kid with a hat and a clefairy (also with matching hat) digging around in your belongings. ...Or perhaps a crate, barrel, you name it nearby. Doesn't seem to have stolen anything, yet.]

[Rather than running away the kid gives a thumbs up. Clearly this hasn't been their first time doing this.]

[Ochako was actually just finished training up outside of Cherrygrove, having decided to stay there for some time after her arrival to this new place, training up her Cleffa a bit, and trying her hand at actually catching more Pokemon to add to her party before pressing on ahead. Her friends are here, sure, but she doesn't like the idea of relying on them for help...or being dragged around behind them like baggage. No, Ochako has two legs that aren't broken - she's going to walk on her own and grow stronger just the same. Besides, she can always reach out to her friends with the PokeGear, and meet up as needed, if she ever feels lonely.

As she's heading back to where she put her things, Ochako freezes when she notices a kid rummaging through her belongings. What the--...oh, the cheek.]

H-HEY!! Hey, that's not yours! [Ochako is already stomping over. She may look cute and sweet, but she's a force to be reckoned with, even without her quirk. Also she can outrun you, Hat Kid, don't test your luck.] If you're hungry, you could have asked, and I'd share something with you, you know!! Stealing from others will only get you in trouble!

Daniel Kanegem | Original Character

A. Azalea Town
[If there's one thing that he's learned Skarmory don't enjoy, is it's the rain. Unfortunately there wasn't much of an option he had, caught by a trainer battle before getting to the city. While Daniel had other Pokemon, they weren't yet as adept as his Skarmory was, but when he noticed the effect the weather was having, he ended the battle as quickly as he could and hastened for the next town.

And while the Pokemon Center was an option, Daniel decided on another way instead, hoping it would get him a little bonding time with his starter. So, he was sitting on a bench to one side of a walkway, smoothing a rag over the feathers.]

There you go, Falchion. [He took care to clean the feathers as he would any normal blade and, at one point, tapped the bird's shoulder so the wings could be spread, drying in the sun and letting him get to the subfeathers beneath.] No more rain for you, huh.

[Falchion trilled a bit, and Daniel smiled, taking that for an affirmative.]

B. MooMoo Farm
[The reputation of the milk sold here was hard to beat. Daniel still considered himself an amateur breeder, focusing more on finding other Pokemon and helping his trainer friends out, but he knew that some freshest-fresh milk would benefit not only him and his team, but be a nice bonus to put with any eggs he gives away.

So here he is, hauling up a bale of hay from a wagon. He walked it across the field and set it down, then started spreading it for the Miltank to eat. Once that was done, refreshing a salt lick hanging on the fence was next, then moving on to the next paddock. It was a lot of hard work, and he definitely wouldn't say no to any help along the way, human or Pokemon alike.]

[Byleth doesn't say anything to Daniel as she approaches, but she does pick up one of the hay bales, following him with it. She does give a little nod as they work together, but is otherwise silent until another bale of hay whizzes by. This one, oddly enough, isn't being carried- Byleth glances over at her Hatenna sitting nearby. She doesn't smile at it, but there's a certain warmth in her eyes as she speaks to it.]

[Azalea had, incidentally, been the next stop on Legosi's trip through the cities of Johto. He'd arrived just a short time ago that same day, having been fortunately quick enough to get into a building to avoid the worst of the recent downpour. Kaze and Mizu loved the water, so he hated to prevent them from being able to go out and frolick...but it had been a long nine day journey. Without Pokemon to ride or fly on, it's...a lot. Maybe next time, though.

He eventually wanders back out when the sun finally starts peeking through the clouds again, wanting to get a proper walk through the city before it got too dark. Haru, his starter Buneary, perches today at the back of his neck as he walks, holding on to the top of his head as she peeks out from past his dark-grey hair. It isn't long before he notices a trainer sitting nearby with a Pokemon that actually reminds him a lot of the Corviknight Thace had shown him...made from steel, just a different color. It doesn't take long to realize what it is that happened.]

I have an extra towel in my bag, if you need one.

[He offers to Daniel quietly from nearby, having noticed that all he has on him is a rag to work with.]

A mouthy but supportive teenage girl who is totally used to just supporting the protagonist with some occasional plot participation? If you are indeed lacking in this archetype for your journey, here is Aki, able to recruited like most of Ash's companions.

She is unsteadily trying to hold a bike up upward. She has absolutely no experience riding bikes (at her canon point). It's the perfect opportunity for a friend of your own, either by teaching her how to ride her bike or redirecting a bolt of lightning to her bike. Either or is a great way to make a friend...! ]

C'mon Aki, you should be able to figure this one out... [ Nope, she's still trying to get on top of it while trying to keep it completely free-standing. It's just... not working. ]

...oh dear god that's a giant Jonathan is...big. He's tall. He's extremely muscular. It's like if someone took whatever the heck Rex Godwin pulled, but actually did it naturally and didn't look like a strange inflata-muscle thing.

The man is 6'5'' and beaming widely, which perhaps only somewhat brings any aura of calm to all of this.] Is this your first experience with the bikes? They are certainly somewhat confounding at first, but when you manage to gain momentum it becomes far easier!

[What is this? What kind of madcap magic has someone pulled off? It's definitely more complicated than anything Sorcerio or Odvall could pull off; it takes someone special to transform a demon. Luci might not be a high level demon, but come on, who the hell would turn him into a human?]

[He's just going to rudely grab whoever is available in this cafeteria he's ended up in.]

What the hell, man? What'd you do to me?

[Luci has cheered up a bit since his arrival. He's gotten the whole Rocket thing explained to him, and he's getting used to his fresh new human body. He can't squeeze under the cracks of doors anymore, or light fires, but he's too big to easily kick, and no one can stuff him in a glass bottle either! So all in all, it's a reasonable trade-off.]

[Downside: no one tries to scratch his back. Luci never enjoyed being mistaken for a weird talking cat, but those back scratches? Top notch.]

So where can a guy get a good drink around here?

[Look at this charming guy on the network! Sure, he's wearing an eye patch, but he's clearly very much a human and totally not trying to convince you to do all those bad things you secretly want to do anyway!]

[To explain to innocent bystanders here on the TDM, the person in charge, Trystan, has said that Luci's human form looks a lot like Jean's old, very dead friend Marco Because Reasons, and I am certainly not one to restrain them!]

[So, yeah. Imagine Jean's horrified surprise when he sees a familiar face on the network. Kind of familiar, at least. For one, Jean hasn't seen Marco's face for coming up on five or six years now, and coming from a world where photographs didn't exist, he only has his own fading memories to work off of. Marco also did not have an eyepatch, although perhaps if he survived being half-eaten by a Titan (largely impossible, as far as he could remember, but the brain had a way of obfuscating trauma over time. Maybe Marco wasn't as fatally dismembered as Jean recalled) he would have.]

[There's a tangible pause as Jean's face very clearly goes through a procession of forms of disbelief and shock. Mostly the unpleasant kinds.]

You can't... I'm seeing things. I'm seeing things!

[It wouldn't be the first time. Jean sometimes saw things in shadows that weren't really there, or felt the echo of dreams while waking up. It was to be expected from the life he's led.]

I. New Bark Town

The air is different here. Less sticky. Less hot. Wind blows, clean and crisp. No cicadas chirping, just birds singing from rooftops, or cats playing on a porch, or chattering from squirrels. The hum of electricity from generators, streetlamps, wires. She wonders if this is real, or if this is a dream, or if there is no difference between the two. Perhaps this is her reward, for a job well done. Perhaps this is a punishment, for a job left unfinished.

She closes her eyes, and when she opens them, the town is still here. Still whole. Even with her eyes closed, she can feel the grass against her ankles. Wind in her hair. Sun on her face. Warmth through her skin. She is alive, and so too is this place she has found herself in. The reading materials called the land Johto, the town New Bark, the creatures Pokemon. The materials were given to her by something called a Mother. What is a Mother? Do they always give such gifts? These things are not explained in the references, and so she does not know, and so she does not ask.

--An impression, across her mind. A light push, as if trying to open a door. Images, faint ones, follow behind. Green, bright and vivid. A bubble about to pop. A feeling she does not know. Warm like the breeze. Inviting, but softer. As if to say Welcome Home.

She looks to her pokemon -- a Solosis, the index claims, a wobbling ball of liquid -- and takes a little breath. "Yes. Home," she says.

Though she does not know what that is. Not yet. But perhaps she can come to understand this feeling, this strange warmth inside her heart, if she stays a little longer and listens to it.

New Bark Town

How strange this place is, he's almost certain that it's some sort of afterlife that he'd been promised. Once stripped from him to be back in the world as something of a zombie and now returned to him. It seemed... peaceful enough, he seemed whole and overall in one piece. As far as he could tell, there was no damage done to his body other than a scar he's fairly certain will not be seen by anyone any time soon.

A frown plays on his lips as he watches this display from afar, figuring that whoever this woman is that she is not native to this place, either. The creature with her seems... to be something of this world as well and far different than the white and ice blue fox that stands at his own side.

Really, he's certain he stands out amongst the normal townsfolk in his long sleeves and layers upon layers and metal plated headband placed tightly against his head. Perhaps he should say something?

"Is it home or is it an afterlife, do you think?" His question is curious, voice relatively soft as he tilts his head slightly in her direction. Perhaps he shouldn't intervene, but it felt right.

A. New Bark Town

[It's... strange to be waking up and breathing. That's the first thing he notices, the slow rise and fall of his chest, the scent of what seems... well, like a normal home for most people would be. A soft bed underneath him and a distinct lack of, well, anything that would say he was dead. He's pretty certain if this were the afterlife then he wouldn't be breathing of all things. Slowly he comes to, blinking at the ceiling and quietly feeling for something that should be by his heart. It's there, it's... well, it's a scar and not seeming to be some sort of gaping wound. A weird but good sign, he supposes. Even his clothing seems to have been mended somehow.

Despite the confusion he is quick to get out of that bed, ignoring everything around him and getting outside. Even this person calling herself "mom" was inherently ignored as he knew better than to believe some nonsense like that. What he hadn't noticed was the trotting of the white and ice blue fox behind him trying to keep up. It's not until he actually is> outside that he notices the tiny creature who barks up at him before sitting obediently next to him.

Well, fine, he's not going to worry too much about that for now. The distinct feeling of being locked out of his chakra is evidently and... worrying, not that he couldn't fight someone without it. But this place seems... peaceful enough. Even if he absolutely stands out in the crowd.]

B. Ecruteak's Kimono Dance Theater

[It had taken some travel to get here, but the city seemed something far more familiar to him. The traditional aesthetic lining up more with the ninja villages he was accustomed to. Even more interesting had been the theater, hearing the talk of kimonos and wondering just... how accurate that might actually be.

In fact it seemed very accurate as he kept further to the back to observe what was going on, not that it... lasted very long as when he'd gone to ask some questions he was immediately getting fawned over for having flawless skin and beautiful hair and just how lovely he'd look dressed up.

Which of course had been a lovely mistake of thinking he was a girl, which wasn't uncommon and he's not about to correct them as it didn't really matter to him in the first place.]

Ah, that was not what... I had been thinking of, but I had some questions? [His tone is soft and calm, though there's a tinge of confusion and frustration under it all. The poor little alola vulpix isn't quite sure what to make of it either, staying close to his side and hoping the eeveelutions didn't try to get into some turf war with him.]

Waking up in a strange bed with no memory of how or when she'd gotten there is not at all what she was expecting to deal with this morning, but here we are. Having to then deal with a well-meaning, if confused, woman who seems convinced that she's Ami's mother is just the icing on the weird cake. The entire exchange is rather surreal, and it's just far enough outside the realm of things she's expecting to ever have to deal with that it leaves her a bit shaken.

There isn't much else to see in the quiet little town, so she's not inclined to stick around any longer than absolutely necessary. She hasn't seen or heard from any of the others up until this point, which is causing her to worry just the slightest bit. What kind of a place is this, anyway? A bit later, she can be spotted trying to pick her way along Route 29, equipped with the backpack no doubt lovingly packed by "Mama" and an equally bewildered looking Psyduck.

Goldenrod City

"I suppose department stores are universal..."

While she's technically speaking to the Psyduck behind her, anyone in the vicinity is more than welcome to chime in. There are probably more important things to worry about, such as figuring out if any of the others are here, but the appearance of the familiar store is enough to put her at ease.

"Excuse me! Could you point me in the direction of Sprout Tower?"

To say Bolin's looking forward to checking out the tower would be an understatement. The thought of witnessing a giant Bellsprout has been enough to overrule the city's other notable attractions.

And there are other things to see around here. There's apparently a falconry show pretty close to the gym. The gym! He'll have to make a point to go see those at some point. Later. Tomorrow, maybe? The trainer school should be around here somewhere as well.

None of these things are grabbing him as much as that Bellsprout, though.

"Have you been there? Is it as amazing as I've heard?"

He's banking pretty hard on the possibility that the person he's grabbed in passing has actually been to the tower.

I'm not sure what you mean about bending, but if something's weird about you now, I'd say it's the same reason I woke up here as a human. Kind of sucks ass, huh?

[ he was thrown into a new world, with little to no information as to why, and given a new role as a trainer. it was all so strange to him. he wanted to go home. however, the tiny milcery that latched itself onto him was not letting go, and sandalphon had come to admit that this was his new normal, and he had to get used to it.

so there he was, on a park bench with the milcery on his lap, poking away at the pokegear. ]

What does this... do exactly?

[ if there was something sandalphon could do for hours, it would be spending time bird watching. it was calming, being among the creatures he often flown with. being earth bound wasn’t the worst thing that could happen to him, but it also left him longing for what he used to have.

he sipped away at the coffee he managed to procure, watching all the bird pokémon simply live. ]

I wonder if I’ll be able to fly once more...

You can ride any Pokemon large enough that knows the proper technique, but you'll have to defeat the gym challenge here and in Cianwood first.

[Felix is only passing by, but the Liepard padding along by his side starts eyeing this birdwatcher like she plans to try to pick his pockets or something, and Felix decides that the man's muttering to himself is as good an excuse as any to head her off at the pass.]

[ Disclaimer: I am currently, for the most part, voicetesting Eri at the moment. If you have anything to say about the way I play Eri (tips on how to play her, things I do that might not be ic, etc), please let me know so that I can improve. Eri is an incredibly new muse for me, so chances are I might mess something up and I'd like to be called out on those things.

Also, as per the rules on the FAQ... Eri is six years old, so she'll be aged up to 10... but mentally she's still the same six-year-old child who is very confused as to why everything feels smaller suddenly. Basically, she's still babiest of babies. ]

[ Fortunately, when you're as young as Eri, 'Mom' takes a much gentler approach to kicking you out of her house. Well, as gentle as something like that can get. ]

Um... w-wait, miss...?

[ First off, this lady definitely wasn't her Mom... and in the first place, thinking of her Mom wasn't exactly pleasant, which caused her to... kind of stiffen up. This actually made it easier for 'Mom' to put a backpack on her and gently plop her down outside with... a small unicorn? In any case, she was outside before Eri could realize what was happening.

Still, now that it's settled in that this lady is a little strange (and also not her actual mother, calm down), she's quick to turn around and start to gently knock on the door again. ]

M-Miss...? Wait, please! Where am I!?

[ ...but nobody answered. That's definitely not good, because as Eri looks frantically around her surroundings, the more it becomes apparent that this isn't UA... or anywhere familiar, for that matter. She remembers going to bed, but then she woke up here.

Now, first off... even if this world has mysteriously aged her up to a ten-year-old's body, she's still a six-year-old mentally. She hasn't realized yet that she's noticeably taller than before. Almost a foot taller if you were to eyeball it. ]

Deku-san...? Lemillion-san...? Eraserhead-san...?

[ She's tearing up now... a reasonable reaction for a girl her age. It's not that there's anything dangerous happening, but she's in an unfamiliar place with nobody but strangers around, and the only comfort being the small unicorn nudging it's nose into her hand. ]

Where is everyone...? Where am I...?

[ Somehow, likely through the help of someone else (because she definitely wasn't setting out on her own. She's six!), Eri's managed to reach Cherrygrove... and after making it all the way here, she can say for certain that this definitely isn't UA... or even Japan, for that matter.

She hasn't really talked much... and can you blame her? Nothing makes sense, after all. Why does she have a pet unicorn now? Why is this pet unicorn able to go into a ball? Why is she suddenly older—along with a small phone-thing blaring "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" at her despite it not being anywhere close to her birthday?

And finally... oh my god is that Pokemon a living apple? ]

[ Listen, Eri's heard plenty about Pokemon, and she's figured out that they go into these little balls... and that you can catch them.
