New Bark Town

[ That was not his mother. He’d said so several times, but she hadn’t seemed to really pay his protests any mind. Now Junpei was staring at the door that had just been shut, absolutely confused beyond belief.

When he turned around to get a look at wherever he was, he nearly jumped out of his skin at seeing a blue tentacled creature mere inches from his face. He’s pressed against the door now, eyes wide in fear while the creature seems totally unphased by his reaction. It babbles on and on in its own language as he finds himself slowly trying to step around it. ]

I ... I don’t know what you want, but I can’t help you ...

National Park

[ A rest is nice. Even after some time in this new world, Junpei still feels a little overwhelmed by it all. He’s sat himself down on a bench, watching his Frillish bounce around and sing to itself, the polar opposite of his introverted tendencies.

He’d learned quickly the Pokémon was his, and that it was a more complex creature than Moon Dregs in spite of their similarities. He could command it as he had been able to do with his shikigami, but the Frillish could disobey if it so desired.

Someone had told him he should give it a name, but he hadn’t ever had to name something before, and found himself taking it more seriously than he’d expected. He’d gone through a few before deciding they didn’t quite fit. ]

... Bloop? No, that sounds dumb ...

[Strictly speaking, Doppio doesn't need to pass through the National Park anymore. He has faster ways to travel between all of the adjacent cities, and most of the trainers don't really have Pokémon rare enough for Doppio to bother putting on his Rocket uniform and ruining their days.

But, you know... When he drops by Goldenrod anyway, and he needs to train his Pokémon the way any regular old civilian would... The National Park is just a really nice place. The trees, the flowers, the bugs... There's no reason for him not to come here either. He may be a man on a mission, but doing regular trainer things is also part of that, right?

And hey, gathering berries for his Morpeko so it doesn't fly off the handle at a bad time later? That's DEFINITELY important, and exactly what Doppio is up to when he overhears Junpei - and sees his Frillish.]

Huh?... Whoa! I don't see those very often.

[ The boy and his Pokémon both turn their attention to the speaker, Junpei looking unsure while the Frillish is overjoyed at attention. It gives a little twirl in the air as its trainer fumbles with his words. ]

Oh? Is it not a common one? I ... don’t really know what’s rare and what’s not.

[Network]

Ooooh, this is a strange little diary! It's got fancy buttons to type with and everything! Maybe it's one of them fancy laptops?

[Arlo picks up the PokeGear, looking it over. And then he starts typing away on it.]

Hi! I'm Arlo! What are you all doing on this wonderful day? Oh yeah, I'm not an alligator anymore, so that's something new!

[Route 29]

I wish Bertie were here... I'm not really used to traveling on my own. Least I got you, you know?

[Arlo's sitting on a stump with his new Lotad. The Lotad doesn't move, basking in the crisp, cool morning breeze.]

I mean, it's really weird... being brought to a whole new place, being turned into a person, oh yeah, and I think I met my mom? But she wants me to go on an adventure with you. It's kind of overwhelming.

You know what I think we need? A ~song~! How about it, you wanna join in?

I wasn't an alligator, but I can understand how you feel about new things! I don't have my wings, or my tail, or my horns either! I'm still getting used to it, but apparently that happens quite often here.

But I've still been having a lot of fun here~. Back home, I would have decorated my horns and tail with accessories. Since I don't have those anymore, I thought I would dress up my Pokemon instead! So we've all been exploring the town today.

This place seems pretty fun, but I haven't been able to find any of my friends here. It's kinda lonely without them here.

[Elizabetta had just been going for a walk with her little Spritzee, especially to scope out the National Park... She's heard quite a few incredible Pokemon can be found around here, after all!]

[Instead, it looks like she's stumbled upon a curious little dilemma! Coming up from behind the bench, she leans down to get a slightly better look.]

[This is somewhat necessary, with her being over six foot.]

Yes! It was so nice to have my horns. Short horns have their own charm, but I liked having long ones so that I could do all sorts of things with them!
It's a shame about you missing all your scales and your snout. I bet you looked fantastic with them.

I'm missing a lot of my friends as well. However, I've heard that people like us arrive all the time~. So it seems like the two of us might just have to be patient, and we'll be rewarded!

[ Not having expected someone to overhear him, Junpei looks a little startled at the woman’s words.

Still, while he isn’t the best at socializing, he also isn’t so rude as not to respond to her. His voice is meek and unsure. ]

Ah, well ... I was trying to think of a movie character it’d make sense to name him after, but there aren’t exactly many famous jellyfish. If he was a shark ... or a dog ...

Oh, so you're thinking of a movie character name! That's so clever, honestly~.

[Eliza claps her hands together, excited at the prospect.]

I can definitely think of a lot of movies with characters like him! Those elegant stingers and lovely blue... Let's see... [Straightening up a bit, she presses her fingertips together thoughtfully.] Oh, what about Medusaied? I was so enamored with his character when he slipped into the palace to charm his lovers, and the way moonlight caught all his tentacles during that scene... It earned the actor quite a few fans!

That movie was really good for all the drama in it~. But if you don't mind romance movies, I think the character of Cini Dar was a great classic heart throb!

I think it might be kind of rare, yeah. Not that I've been everywhere or anything, but I think the first time I saw one of those in the wild was all the way in the Cerulean Cape.

[If it's any comfort, Doppio looks at the Frillish far more readily than he does at its trainer. He smiles at both, sure, but it's the Pokémon that his eyes linger on.]

[New Bark Town]
[There's a woman, appearing in her forties or so and clearly a new arrival, chasing a very energetic, bouncy Murkrow through town.]

Murkrowtio! [She calls after him in a tone that's firm, though she keeps her voice low and even.] You need to get into your Pokeball! The trainer's manual clearly indicates that--

[At this point, practically laughing with it's cry, the Murkrow turns around and starts bounding in the other direction, using Lilith's shoulder as a spring-pad for its jumps.]

[Union Cave]
[By the time Lilith makes it this far, it would seem she and her Murkrow are operating better as a team. While they're exploring the rocky caverns, Murkrowtio hears a peculiar, almost musical sound-- he finds it unnerving. His reaction is to start trying to nest into Lilith's hair, which gets a wry smile.]

I'm afraid you have the wrong Clawthorne for that... [But then Lilith hears the call, as well.] Hmm. What could that be?

[Good question! And yet one that won't have an immediate answer... Although someone certainly tries. Down through the tunnels of Union Cave, there's a couple of musical chirps - not the same sound from before, but certainly someone trying to imitate it!]

[And then someone else responding, voice echoing in the caves.]

Oh, I agree. It is a lovely sound, isn't it? Do you think we can find it?

[Lilith blinks, and turns to look down the tunnel in the direction of this other voice-- Mukrowtio also cranes his neck some to look that way, though he stays perched on Lilith's head.]

Well, it's certainly intriguing. [Lilith and her Murkrow head to find who is speaking to them, with Lilith trailing a hand along the rocky cave wall as she walks.] I don't see any reason why we shouldn't try to find the source.

[Lilith happens to be heading down the route as well, with her Murkrow finally in his pokeball - so there's that, at least. She hears Arlo's question before she sees the boy and his partner, and when she does, she stands at a bit of a distance.]

You're going to sing?

[The idea of bursting into song isn't exactly something common on the Boiling Isles.]

Yes I am! I loooove singing! Would you like to join me?

[Busting into song is so common for him, he doesn't mind at all roping other people into it.]

I didn’t. I just showed up here and it was ... with me.

[ He hesitates. Will the other person think he’s nuts? He hasn’t really spoken to anyone else about his weird circumstances since he tried back in New Bark Town and gotten only quizzical looks.

The Frillish adores the attention and starts to circle Doppio’s head as he dances in the air. ]

I’m ... not familiar with that movie.

[ Junpei blinks in confusion. Is that a movie from this world? That’s right, if he’s in a new place it’ll have its own movies won’t it? That’s kind of an exciting prospect. All kinds of new movies to see. Do they have theaters?

Oh, oops. He’s getting distracted. He returns his attention to Eliza. ]

Ah, romance movies are fine. Horror movies are my favorite, though.

New Bark Town

[Haga knows his mother and he knows her WELL. And this woman talking to him, despite her warm smile and calm voice, isn't her! Not even close! And what's with this room he woke up in? This is not his carefully curated room!

But it seems like no matter how much he tells this strange woman she's not his mother and this is not his house, she doesn't seem to be listening. She just gives him a packed back and sends him off on his way for a Pokémon journey?

He can't help but stare at the door once it's shut on his face. Just his luck to be caught in weird situations like these, hm? He sighs and turns to walk away when he trips and falls face first on the ground.]

Ugh... what the... [He mutters, then spots a small pink and green creature that resembles an insect near his feet. But it's much bigger than any insect he's ever seen. And very unusual.]

Oh... Looks like I tripped on you. Sorry lil' guy. [He's surprisingly nice to the small creature, and in return he gets some happy noises and the bug jumps on his chest, seemingly cheering.]

Woah, woah!! Why are you acting like you are my pet or something? You are cute and all but... [He looks around nervously. What are people going to think if they see him being buddy buddy with something so cute? They are gonna start making assumptions!]

Somehwere along Route 30

[After some careful reading of the Trainer Handbook, Haga doesn't feel as lost as before, but he's still very lost. He keeps Fomantis - now named Queenie - out of her pokeball so he doesn't feel so alone in his journey.

The only thing is... Haga quickly discovered that he isn't very good at this Pokémon catching thing. His aim is abysmal and every pokeball he throws misses the target. And honestly, it's starting to get really annoying.

If you are walking through Route 30 you can spot him trying - and failing - to throw pokeballs at Caterpies. He just wants another bug for his team! Why is that so hard? He seems to be growing more and more frustrated by the second. Care to help?]

[Horror movies... Definitely not her usual forte, but she supposes it can't be helped. A well rounded succubus should probably be familiar with all sorts of media, to best make her way into a person's heart... It's just that so much has happened, where does a young student find the time?]

[Well! Now seems like a good time to start!]

Oh, are you one of those who really likes the thrill and suspense, or the designs? A classmate of mine loves video games, so I know more horror there than anything, but that would go off topic, I think..

Why don't you tell me about your favorite horror movie? I'll see if that can't jog my own memory! I'll definitely have seen commercials at least, after all~.

Oh! It would be fun, wouldn't it? But it looks like we'll have to find each other, first~.

[Not that it's too hard... You know, with Eliza waving her own flashlight around as she tries to make her way through the caves. Soon enough, a beam of light is flashing about the walls around a corner, and a very tall girl pops up with a Spritzee cradled in her arms.]

[Being able to just skip school and play around in the country side is so fun! Elizabetta is almost reminded of the Harvest Festival back at school, only with less of a goal to achieve, and the comforts of the city far closer. There's less things that want to eat her, too!]

[So she can just take her time, cradling her companion in her arms... and meet all sorts of interesting people in the meantime. Like the boy in the grass, tossing Pokeballs at caterpillars. Caterpies?]

Oh! Are you interested in those? The, um, cater...

[She's already forgotten the name, even as this six foot something girl comes over with a Spritzee in her arms.]

[He's so focused on trying to get his aim right that he doesn't even notice someone approach him, until he's spoken to. Which causes him to jump a little, but the "scare" is short lived and replaced by surprised when he turns and comes face to face with a very, very tell lady.]

Y-Yeah. The Caterpies... [He's a bit embarrassed to admit he's failing, but at this point he's so tired he doesn't even care.] I've been trying all morning but... Who would have thought throwing a stupid ball straight would be this hard? [Haga says between gritted teeth, fingers tensing around the ball on his hand. Maybe he shouldn't have skipped all those PE classes back home.]

I'm way more used to catching bugs with nets, this is ridiculous... [He mutters more to himself than anything.]

Oh, so you started with it! I guess that explains it. Come to think of it, I don't know if I've ever seen mine in the wild at all.

[Well, ONE of them, anyway, since Rocket grunts get two whole Pokémon to start with, and the one he's not talking about right now is a Magikarp... And, uh, the process of having Pokémon given to you by Team Rocket is probably a little different than having your fake mom give you one, or however that goes... but still!]

I bet you could do all kinds of stuff with long horns! And I did like having my scales and snout. Just doesn't feel the same, ya know?

Oh! Then I bet I'll see Bertie soon. Maybe I should wait for her.
