[Every bit of this man is the Hermes he remembers, the gentle soul who deeply cared (a little too much) for everything around him, especially creations. Assuming Hermes regards these creatures the same way Emet-Selch does, then his expression of thanks towards Apophis is unsurprising. Nor why he got himself stuck in the tree, the Wooper was likely to blame for that, though he is doubtlessly uncertain why one would climb a tree in the first place?

The scenario seems vaguely familiar, but nothing he can truly place why. Probably not important.

As for Apophis, there's a small grumble that leaves him before he floats over to Emet's side.]

That far back are you? Well, I suppose that's a bit of a mercy.

[He brings a gloved hand to his chin, his expression falling to something more thoughtful than the tired smile it was moments ago. No point in hiding things from him, he'll find out one way or another anyway.]

The chasm of time betwixt your point is mine is over twelve thousand years. [He removes his hand from his chin as he sweeps his arm over himself with a gesture.] And no one is immune to time's sway, so you'll have to forgive my queer appearance.

[Gregory leans his head against Freddy's as he says that, looking ahead at the path in front of them as he walks them towards the next town.]

Even if I do bad things again? Cause...I can't promise I won't have to.

[Like stealing, or breaking into places...if it's to keep them both alive, he's not afraid to do whatever he has to.]

[He grumbles and shakes his head. Of course it's this again. How many different variations of their world could there possibly be, and why is it only one person different between them? It makes no sense at all.]

I do remember, just not with you.

[He shrugs.]

It's an odd thing to say, I know, but this place defies most reason. The Warrior I am familiar with is a dark-haired Hyur man.

[ Hearty and filling might be asking a bit much, Claude. But he's willing to try at least, he has no idea what sort of food a place like this has so he's going to have to lean on Claude a little bit. Still Claude is absolutely right. The moment the word "grub" leaves his lips Lorenz snaps his attention back to him, nose wrinkled and looking affronted at the very existence of the word. ]

Ugh. Must you?

[ Why do you have to be disgusting, Claude? Lorenz half rolls his eyes, turning away to huff off to find them somewhere to sit... only to turn on his heel and march right back as soon as he sees the glass case of pastries up front. ]

I'll forgive your horrible language if you bring me one of those nut rolls.

[ Whatever else Claude is planning to get him a maple and pecan topped cinnamon roll just sounds too heavenly to pass up. ]

Please.

[ A murmured afterthought, torn between the demanding huffiness that feels so natural with Claude and not wanting to be rude. Then he finally wanders off to claim a table near the front windows so they can see outside.]

[Claude's wicked grin at Lorenz's clear annoyance is perhaps the brightest he's had on his lips thus far, because this is Lorenz. The Lorenz he remembers, who was working on being more tolerant but who still had certain standards, someone with the fire and spine to call Claude out, someone Claude enjoyed teasing and who, Claude suspects, secretly liked their little back-and-forths despite himself. If Claude can like getting upbraided, then surely Lorenz can like doing the braiding.

It was just...part of how their relationship worked. And because they liked each other, Claude had liked that - and he likes to think Lorenz did, too. So seeing that familiar dynamic raise its head again, even out of Lorenz's depression...it feels good. Great, even.

The fact that Lorenz follows it up with a demand is even better. (The 'please' doesn't detract from this, both because Lorenz would be polite and proper even when making demands and because the fact that it was made at all is the main thing.) That gets a bright laugh out of Claude, and he answers with a wink before heading to the counter.

Lorenz has made a grave mistake. He's let Claude order the food.

Claude, a man who loves feasts.

So when Claude brings over the trays of food...Lorenz is going to find out he's ordered way too much. For one thing, Lorenz definitely has two of those nut rolls, and they're not small. But for another...Claude seems to have ordered enough food for about four people, because it takes four trays to convey it all to their table. (In fact, Claude has to pull over a second table to set two of the trays down on.) Several large sandwiches, two bread bowls full of (different kinds of) soup, three chocolate-drizzled croissants, a large bowl of macaroni and cheese, a flatbread pizza(white sauce, like Lorenz), two chai lattes, and a large salad that definitely has a lot of chicken in it.

And Claude begins distributing the food between them as though this is totally normal and not something Lorenz is going to be aghast about. Especially since an awful lot of the food seems to be ending up on Lorenz's side of the table.]

[Yeah probably not important at all, even though this Hermes remembers finding himself in the same sort of predicament not too long ago...

He brings his free hand up to his chin as he thinks, tilting his head ever so slightly.]

A mercy...? Did something happen?

[Their people are long lived, but twelve thousand years is a bit far off in the future isn't it? For Emet-Selch to dress as he does now though, well something big must have happened.]

Do we all dress so.... creatively in the future?

[Rolling on his back? Right in front of someone he doesn't know? How has this kid survived so long?]

You were making a lot of noise. It was hard to miss.

[Only slightly reproachful; after all, not everyone is trained to be alert to their surroundings the way Mando is. He offers the kid a hand to get up.]

Ghosts aren't real.

[You get used to it after awhile. Sex workers are just trying to make a living, like everyone else. For what it's worth, Mando prefers the dive bars, where he can blend into the background and just observe. Mandalorians tend to attract too much attention at the fancy places.]

[Which, it's worth noting, he's not attracting here? He's not in his full armour, granted, but no one has commented or side-eyed his helmet. Strange.]

[Sorry, Riz, you have yet to unlock the Real Name achievement. Mando takes the business card and examines it. He's got a faint smile behind his mask; this kid is taking things very seriously, and obviously doing his best. It's endearing, in that way that kids have been weirdly endearing to Mando since meeting Grogu.]

[Riz's information is surprisingly solid, and Mando looks at him with more interest, leaning forward a bit over the table.]

Who is doing the kidnapping?

[You know who doesn't take kindly to being kidnapped? Mandalorians. Just point him in the right direction, Riz, he's ready to go voice his displeasure.]

[That's interesting; someone responded to him with video, without knowing who was on the other end. They're awfully trusting around here...]

Either way. The important thing is its size. The smaller the better.

Then if you've been keeping pace, you shouldn't be all too far from the next town. Maybe a day at most? Though I doubt you're keen on travel at the moment...

[You're likely not going to starve, she's trying to say.]

That's not selfish at all. I...it is an incredible relief to see a familiar face. [And a beloved one at that, but, uh, gosh that's coming right out the gate very strong, he...this is a lot at once!] What have you been up to, then? I would gladly hear of all of it.

[Wow thanks remind him that he really couldn't risk actually making the trip out to what little remained of the First without passing out from lack of Crystal Tower it's not like that hurts or anything]

Well, then I shall have to make haste to get there.

[Because Emet-Selch, despite all he'd done, never did lie to the Scions, did he? He was just truthful and insufferable about it.]

But I must say, it is...strange, to speak to you once again. And in truth, I say "strange", but that can't properly sum up my feelings on the matter.

[He's not adverse to it, shit's just weird.]

[Riz sips from his milkshake with a slurp, though Mando's question brings a frown to his face.]

I wish I knew. Some people say it's the work of a pokemon god called Arceus. Apparently he-- it? created this world and all the pokemon in it and is now kidnapping folks?

Unfortunately, I have no evidence either way, so I can't tell if it's actually this creature or if people just started blaming the most visible local god. Planeshifting this many people, taking away their powers and transforming them all into humans would require a lot of power, but this world has a whole host of pokemon gods, so it could be any one of them. Or it could be not a god at all. There's plenty of powerful creatures out there.

Well, I believe Natu can be taught an offensive fire-type move, otherwise the smallest to learn one naturally is probably Fletchling.

That's in terms of fire-type attacks in general, however. If you're looking for a specific move such as Flamethrower or Mystical Fire, that changes things a bit.

[She was sharp, what with her blade ribs and axe head. Mikasa just gave a little nod.]

She's a Bisharp, she was a lot smaller before. I've had her since I got here... [She peered, looking into the camera.] What did you get?

[He can't help but smirk at the commentary.]

Is that some measure of guilt pricking at your conscience? Looking upon the man in which you went under no small amount of labor to orchestrate his execution?

[He knows it isn't guilt, and he does believe that his feelings are complex at the very least. Exarch was ever a terrible liar, after all.]

Do not burden yourself so, least of all for my sake. You won. Should you not relish in the chance to proclaim such accomplishments to my face? By all means, it is your right as the victor and teller of the tale.

All of it? [They beam, a teasing glint in their eye before they settle to recall everything properly.] Well, first I was tossed out of that poor mother's house, and then I ran into a lovely old woman that invited me to sit and tell a few stories for a while. She actually gave me one of her little cats...a Skitty! That's the name of it. From there I got right out onto the road, though I had a bit of trouble in my foraging the second day out...

[Yes, they are going to go over every minor detail if he doesn't stop them, why do you ask?]

Not really. It's more that no one ever shuts up on the network, so I inevitably end up seeing everyone whether I want to or not.

[Felix's brows lift. Fortunately, he doesn't have to ask what fruit preserves have to do with anything, because he knows the slang word 'jam' thanks to Greg, too.]

Ah, the beginning was a bit difficult for me as well. We rationed what we had, of course, but to say I didn't treat myself to a proper meal when I reached the next bit of civilization would be a lie.

[Strangely enough there's no malice or anger in the statement? Like...it sure was a thing that happened, and by the Twelve had it hurt like a motherfucker, but G'raha's...he's not mad. He gets it, in his own way. In a small way.]

[He pauses for a moment, thinks a bit. Manages a smile, despite his unease.]

But I am afraid the victory belongs to the Warrior, and not to me. And I think even they would agree that to cast you only as a villain would do you a great disservice.

Something here has the power to turn other species into humans?

[Mando is no speciesist--if anything, he's a droidist, but that's another story--and it seems both uncalled for and frankly wrong to change someone like that.]

Which ones can learn Flamethrower?

[Mystical Fire sounds pretty sweet too, but Mando is going to go with what he knows.]

Well, it seems Torchic and Litten learn it naturally, but several that are slightly smaller can be taught it, such as Togepi and Igglybuff.

*he pauses for juuuust a moment, then adds:*

Of course, if you use the PokeDex function on the device your using to communicate with right now, you could look up all this information and more yourself, as I've been doing.

*you didn't really think he just had that all memorized, did you? not to mention, he may have specifically listed the cutest possible options out of what he found...*

[ Well, he won't have to worry about her being all over the network at least. She plans to use it as little as possible. This is more how she likes to meet people, honestly. On the road, unexpected... It always makes things interesting. ]
