Yes! It turned me into a human and I'm not the only one. I've even heard that it can turn robots into humans as well.

And even if you are already human before coming here, if you got any sort of magic or abilities, it'll take those too.

[Fortunately, all of Riz's abilities are just rogue stuff and not dependent on magic (just the element of surprise, bitch) though it is pretty hard to use any of that stuff without his gun.]

[They laugh and nod--oh, they can imagine!]

Oh, I absolutely did the same! I do have a bit more experience at making meals on my own, but--ah, well. You didn't run afoul of any of those particularly odd berries, did you?

Truly? Oh, that is a relief--the map this tomestone supplies is not much like the ones I'm used to using.

[Speaking of not travelling--they wince a bit and press a hand to their side.] Azemya's grace--no, no, I don't think I'll be going anywhere for the rest of today at the very least.

[See, he was going to make some snappy comment about the shooting him thing, it was going to be really good too! Worthy of the laugh it'd likely give to the audience they likely don't have.

But then he had to go and ruin it all with...what is that? An attempt at kindness? Pity? Somehow that's far worse than the gloating he has every right to.

He does nothing to stop his reflexive look of disgust.]

Oh, what is this? I do not need your pity, if you are under the misapprehension I require any.

[He shakes his head, giving G'raha a flat look.]

Where was this friendliness when you were less man than crystal? Certainly would have made our conversations far more enjoyable, no doubt. Now, 'tis little more than salt in the wound.

[He says that, but some part of him is touched by the sentiment. If we're being overly generous, that is. But then again, he wouldn't be reacting so much if it meant nothing to him, now would he?]

[He stops himself, lets out a breath. Would it be worth it to argue semantics at this point? G'raha's not sure he has the patience to do so.]

[Is it on the same level as the Unsundered mind can comprehend? No, of course not. But the iceberg of it is visible above the surface, and he can perceive that it goes down, down, down into the depths rather than only focusing on what he can see.]

[Well. This is certainly a familiar sight. Familiar enough that G'rhyf is almost--almost tempted to ask him just how often this sort of thing happens. But the window of time he would have needed to come from to even recognize them is small enough that--their usual boundless serendipity aside--they're not going to take that bet.]

[So instead after a long moment they just sigh and hold out their arms below him.]

No...? No, I did find berries, but...Adamas spirited them off before I could even contemplate taking a bite. I think he ate them all himself.

[Carbink is genderless but maybe this Carbink said hey I'm going to pick my gender]

[Mando doesn't know you, buddy, you could absolutely be the kind of person to memorise this stuff!]

... I realise that.

[Ugh, technology! For someone who flies ships that jump through hyper-space, Mando is surprisingly resistant to learning new tech. He's an analogue guy in a hypertech world.]

I wanted the information from someone who has experienced it.

I'm sorry for your loss.

[Mando can't even imagine being turned into another species. No thank you!]

It doesn't seem to take things you've learned through training, though.

[Unfortunately for all of them, Mando doesn't need to be a space wizard to get things done. It'll be harder without his weapons or jetpack, but those are just stumbling blocks to be overcome.]

[Jane hums softly, thinking about the logistics...] You know...I could see about teleporting to the nearest town and flying your way, if you'd rather not go at this alone? Or at least if you'd like someone around to make sure you don't have to deal with feeling sick all by yourself.

It doesn't really change the information, you know. Unless what you're really asking is for suggestions for a particular kind of situation, such as "can I hide a Pokemon up my sleeve and make it look like I'm throwing lightningbolts from my hand," but in that case you'd probably have more luck asking directly.

Maybe. Unfortunately, most of the people here seem to be happy to just [A short, jabbing gesture that oozes frustration] accept all of this? Nobody seems to be digging into why we are here and how to get back to our homes. They even seem to be content to ignore super obvious suspicious things.

Like, those nurses. Did you know they are all exactly alike? Wait, I've got--

[Open clicks the briefcase again, Riz digging inside of it before he extracts a pile of pictures (only slightly creased at the edges).]

I've got more of the Jennies --who are suppose to be what counts for police in this world-- but look.

[Riz sets down several pictures of several groups of Joys on the table in front of Mando. If it wasn't for the difference in background, it could very well be pictures of the same group of people.]

This one was taken in Goldenrod city, and this one in Violet City, and this one in Cherrygrove. Three different poke-centrums, and at least nine completely identical nurses. And it's supposed to be the same in every town. That's-- that's just not normal!

[In this house we stan a trans king!]

That might be for the best...seems many varieties that Pokemon enjoy have some nasty side-effects for us. I was aching for hours after just a few bites!

Yeah.

[He usually did make a lot of noise. Being quiet wasn't one of his specialties.

He snorted but still accepted the help up.]

Ghosts are totally real, dude.

[Was he allowed to say that he knew because he'd been one for a while? He knew back home that was probably something to keep quiet about, but this wasn't home.]

G'raha's face immediately does a shift to concern] Wh- gods, are you alright? Are all berries in this world poisonous to people?

[Mando just sighs and shakes his head. Ghosts...]

Were you here looking for one?

[If they were real, Mando guesses they'd hang out in a place like this.]

[Mando bends over the photos, and yeah, that is weird. He listens to Riz's explanation, then gestures at the pile.]

May I?

[Once he has permission, he'll pick up the photos and start shuffling through them.]

It must be cloning technology.

[Huh. That had been outlawed after the Clone Wars.]

They're hiding some impressive tech somewhere.

[ . . . . ]

So if I wanted to hide a Pokemon up my sleeve and then make it shoot Flamethrower from there, which one would be a good pick?

[Well then! That was easier than he thought!]

[Riz is familiar with cloning, though only through magic rather than tech. Still, that is not a sufficient answer for him!]

Which just makes it more suspicious, right? If that kind of technology exists, why are they hiding it? And why are they using it to create nursing and police staff?

And I know for a fact the Jennies don't solve any actual crimes. I broke into one of their precincts and they had nothing related to any ongoing cases inside. Or even solved cases!

All good questions.

[Riz's observations about the police not doing their actual jobs doesn't surprise Mando too much.]

I doubt it's in their interest to solve crimes. It's much easier to let outside factions enforce order.

[Spoken like someone who has been on the wrong side of the law a time or several in his life.]

What did you find in their precinct?

[Mando is fairly impressed by that revelation. It's not like this world seems to have great security, but for a kid on his own? Nice work, Riz.]

Well, assuming that you have sleeves that can accommodate to begin with--the very smallest known Pokemon is still easily yhe size of a person's fist...

*give him a moment, this requires a bit more thought than sort the 'dex by size and filtering for the desired move*

Probably Salandit, really. It's a bit larger, about as long as your arm, but most of that is just long body and tail. So if you could teach it to lay flat, gripping your arm, it could probably manage.

Another possibility may be Inkay. They're smaller than Salandit, and if I recall quite good at squeezing into small spaces, but I'm not certain how well one would be able to hold on in the right position.

Like I said, nothing. I took pictures and video footage if you want to see, but essentially, the only paperwork they had were onboarding guides. There were no ongoing case files or evidence. There wasn't even an evidence room.

[And not a single cool murder board!! For shame.

Riz frowns for a moment, trying to find a good way to describe what he found.]

It was almost like a, hmm, like a movie set, I guess. It looks right from the outside, but once you dig, it just doesn't hold up.

I'm fine, truly! It was nothing deadly, just extremely uncomfortable. [Rub rub rub of their thumbs over his knuckles--everything's okay!] And it's not every berry, thankfully! The ones that Pokemon prefer are fairly distinctive in appearance, and only a few that really resemble anything we're used to.

If you're certain...

[He still looks like he's having a concern! This is his very dear friend, okay, he doesn't want them to be sick! Especially from a mistaken berry identity problem. That just wouldn't be okay!]

I suppose I ought to thank my new friend for sparing me from a similar fate.

[He glanced around quickly to make sure there wasn't anything spooky sneaking up on him.]

I was just looking around, in general, and then weird stuff started happening. Like, my lil guy started staring at nothing like cats do sometimes.

[And cats could definitely see ghosts, he knew that for a fact.]

And then the radio turned itself on.
