I can't argue with that.

[Still shaken by the thought, however, Radley has to take a moment to reassure himself that he still seems to be alive. He already faced certain death once and came through it somehow. He isn't ready to face the possibility that this might be an afterlife.

He really doesn't think so, though. Being stuck in a video game seems more likely. Or, he hopes, best case scenario is that it's another dimension.]

That aside, the satrap of Thavnair has been showing me his best hospitality. Probably softening me up for some onerous task or another.

Ah, that would be Vrtra, the youngest of the great wyrms. Make an excuse for some diplomatic visit or another when we return, he would be thrilled.

He is. I would have been surprised if he wasn't.

[Since they were both Blades, he was a little biased about the abilities of other Blades just on the whole. Also he knew what Thace was capable of]

That sounds like it would be a nice place to see. It has been a long time since I have been anywhere other than space. It will be good to see what this world has. I will be able to get there at some point.

[Poochyena was a very small traveling companion and so far his only one. She did wag her tail just a bit when Shiro waved to her]

I know them well. I am Ulaz. I was a member of the Blade of Marmora working undercover on a Galra ship. Unfortunately, Communications Base Thaldycon was the end of my mission, but it is good that the Blades have continued to work against the Empire.

I suppose that is true. But I would prefer to not to lose that even if the convention is for pokemon to fight. I have seen a few already battling. For the moment, we are sitting here.

I don't really get why they turn us all human either, but they do.

Ah, a llama is a kind of animal from my world. Quadrupedal, long-necked, and covered with fluffy wool. All depictions I've seen of the god of this world seem very reminiscent of them.

Of course. I would be delighted to visit with the Satrap, especially given his apparent ties to our home. Never mind the chance at visiting with a dear friend for more than a passing moment.

Ilphyl nodded. The answer didn't help with the identity of the stranger. "What are you going to do now?"

Ilphyl was happy about walking around the road, studying the wildlife, since there didn't seem to be anything urgent to do. This close to a town that didn't have walls or anything, there wasn't likely to be a serious danger.

Grimmjow hummed softly, looking down at his Cubone. "So I just gotta tell him t'use them an' then he can beat stuff up... we'll make you strong enough t'kill anythin'," he assured his sleeping pokemon, patting its head lightly. "Just gotta know the right way t'do it, I guess."

[Thace had said something similar about himself, and she nodded. She had a feeling she knew what that meant.]

Thank you... for what you've done. I know it was difficult. Both Thace and Keith have told me about the Blades and what they've done. It was Keith and his mother who found me and the rest of the Altean survivors during their mission together.

I'm not familiar with that base, though. That must have happened when I wasn't with the Paladins.

"Does the book say how they feel about that?" Animal companions and familiars are fine, and certainly common in battle. Even trained animals are okay. Throwing the wildlife into cage fighting is dubious. "I can't exactly ask them."

Ilphyl has figured out they can't cast a single spell, which includes all their druidic magic. Of course, they still know how to observe if an animal is unhappy, but it is the principle of the matter. That being a lack of magic.

And where will you keep them all once you have them? [ Despite himself, he cracks a smile. ] Not even you have large enough pockets.

[ A bag of holding, perhaps, but he has a suspicion that if travel to this plane can take away innate powers, then magic items won't be capable of doing much. ]

I have read about this too in my guidebook! There is a mysterious artefact known as a 'computer' that shall hold them for me. One can visit its 'terminals' in any large village.

It was their doing. [ Gently squeezes his Pokemon, who seems to take it as a sign of affection. He just sighs. ] The apology is needless.

[ Kimmuriel is many things, and one of those things is being possessed of a firm belief that blame should be assigned to the correct place. (If you didn't know exactly who and what had wronged you, it was harder to assess an appropriate punishment.)

He eyes the Swablu with measured curiosity. ]

Perhaps it requires an appropriate seat because its flying abilities are poor. [ He's already trying to make sense of it. ] Wings made out of cloud seem inefficient for a bird.

Why, I hardly need intrinsic knowledge to avoid becoming lost. If that were the case, no one would ever travel.

The jostling disturbs part of her ruff, which extends upward in a bump... and it isn't part of the fur at all, but a little, round blackbird. It stares at Aymeric with even more open curiosity than its apparent trainer does. If the stranger notices, she doesn't acknowledge it.]

[ Ilphyl rarely comes off as 'guarded', but they are usually aware of the difference between 'what they are feeling' and 'the things they express in their mannerisms and speech'. Around humanoids. Animals mostly get the consideration of 'behave in ways that the animal reads as non-hostile'.

[So they are delighted to discover some kind of land-squid, once they are sure it is not some weird parasite looking for an unsuspecting host for its eggs or something. ]

Hey there. Are you going to be okay out of water? The guide didn't say anything about that.

[ Ilphyl's own Morelull seems to be comfortably balanced on their shoulder. ]

[ They'll notice a person approaching, but they aren't used to human senses; it means they are probably visible and audible before they have a chance to react. ]

[Considering the finality with which the other man speaks, Aymeric hardly sees a need to argue the matter any further. He merely nods his assent and shifts his focus elsewhere. Namely, the theories that his new found "companion" seemed eager to offer up.]

'Tis entirely possible. I have witnessed it flying only once -- in the midst of the panic of discovering the creature. Being that I was sufficiently distracted in that moment, I would not be able to offer proper observation.

[In his rightful element, Aymeric was hardly a suspicious man. It was probably why he'd been knifed in his gut so easily, now that he thinks about it. But this is far from his rightful element, and this person is far from any normal passerby. He knows not what to make of her.]

I'm pretty excited to find out, now that you have mentioned it. [ _{he combs his fingers through Ponyta's mane as she stands beside him.} ] From the ways of these creatures, to how... different everyone is who arrives here, I'm so curious to learn more. Maybe I could send letters to people back home with what I discover!

"So both Vox and Cubone can evolve into a stronger form, but for different reasons. Cubone has to hit a certain level, while I'll have to find a specific item to expose Vox to for her to evolve."

If it has no sense for its own survival to that extent, I will be disappointed but unsurprised, [ comes the acerbic response of its trainer as he grabs it mid-attempt to perch on Ilphyl's head. It hangs cheerfully in his hands, wriggling happily. ]

It seems to adore anyone it has not yet seen, which is everyone. [ He scowls at it.

An introduction? An apology? Why would he give any of those things. ]

It certainly is; I have never had an outside force change my form so entirely before.

[Changing shape by his own power is one thing - and still one that takes quite a bit of effort - but this is new, and still strange.]

But, then, I suppose a being capable of drawing people from such different, far-flung realities must have a lot of power... changing those people's shapes is just one more step.
