Not that I know of, but I admittedly have not seen an actual sloth in person before. And, honestly, this guy is already way better. For one, it's pink. For two, just-

[ A stare of complete adoration. ] It's so friggin' cute. [ She may just actually die. Rose saw one fishing with its tail earlier, too, and her desire to own one grew tenfold. ] I will have one.

Not this one because I guess he belongs to someone here in town but they said there's a well or something I can catch them in. [ S O O N. Exciting. Other than Snom, she hasn't felt quite so compelled to catch any other Pokemon until now. Finally, the blond manages to pull her attention away from her lazy new friend and- ]

Oh, shoot, sorry. Are we in the way? We're probably in the way. I don't think he's moving anytime soon but I can at least.

Oh, yeah, definitely cuter than a sloth. But then, a lot of Pokemon are cuter than the animals we have back in Nua. Have you seen a Pachirisu yet? It's like a big squirrel, but it's blue, and their tails are somehow even fluffier than a normal squirrel's! I have one, she's such a sweetheart.

[ She's half tempted to bring Patches out just to show her off, but she just got done a big battle, so she's resting, and Rainer doesn't want to disturb her. ]

Oh, no, don't worry about it! I'm not in any hurry to get anywhere![ She holds her hands out for a shake. ] I don't think I've seen you around before. My name's Rainer!

[ Nua... Hm. Rose is still getting used to the idea of people here being from all different realities. Hers was technically made up of three - or four, depending on who you asked - 'worlds.' But they were more like adjacent planes of existence tethered to the same planet. ]

I haven't, but that sounds friggin' adorable. A lot of these things are. [ Granted, that seems to be subjective. While she finds these empty-headed Slowpokes cute as can be, someone else might not. ]

If you're sure, [ she says, extending a hand to grab hers for a shake. Snom begins to squirm down her arm as if to meet Rainer's hand, too, curiously. ] But nice to meet you, Rainer. I'm Rose. Just got here myself not too long ago.

[ If Rose opened up about that system of adjacent planes, she might find that Rainer understands more than she would expect. But, alas, some things remain just narration for now. ]

Nice to meet you too, Rose! [ She shakes Rose's hand, then turns her hand palm up for the little Snom to creep into it, should it choose to. ] Is this your first Pokemon? We all start with one when we wake up here.

[ Hah. Rose opening up. Good one.

When Rainer's hand is offered as a perch, Snom looks back to Rosie who gives him a nod. It's fine. The little worm snakes forward onto the other girl's hand. ]

Yeah, he was the guy I woke up with. Just kind of... hanging out on me. And by the rule of finder's keepers, I just assumed he was mine.

[ Once Snom scurries onto Rainer's palm, she brings her hand in to cradle him to her chest, cooing over how cute he is and stroking his spiky back with her free hand. ]

Yeah, this plane sort of operates on "finder's keepers" logic a lot of the time. That and, "I'm stronger than you so you're mine now." If you're not careful, you can end up with a whole menagerie before you know it.

[hasitsthorns]

[ The snow worm makes a content keening noise at the attention. Rose squints curiously. Can he... feel that? Through the ice? Is the ice part of him? She has so many questions, suddenly. ]

Oh, yeah, they said something about battling... I haven't tried it yet because, well. Look at this little dude. He couldn't hurt a thing. [ But- ] You say that like it's a bad thing though. I'd love to have a whole convoy of Pokemon eventually.

[necrodentia]

He does look like quite the little pacifist... [ She gives Snom some more scritches, before holding him back out for Rose to take. ] But most all Pokemon come with magic attacks, so you shouldn't worry about them being able to hold their own in a fight. And besides, it's going to be hard for you to get more of them if you don't start battling with him.

[ She laughs, looking a little embarrassed. ]

You say that now... I actually have, what... foooortyyyyy of them now, I think? Don't get me wrong, I love all of them dearly! But I can't even keep all of them with me, most of them have to stay in digital storage.

[hasitsthorns]

[ Rose takes back her Little Guy and he happily wiggles on up to her shoulder. It seems like his new favorite place to perch.

Right. Right, that Caeser guy mentioned that too, didn't he? The most she can tote around with her at any time is six. Still- ]

Digital what now? Are you telling me we're in The Matrix? Because, if so, gotta' admit it's a bit more anti-climatic than I had hoped for that reveal.

The what-trix? Is that a... Oh, what did Riz call them...? Is that a movie?

[ Sorry, Rose, Rainer is from fantasy medieval land, as much as she might sound like she comes from modern times. ]

[ Oh. Oh, no. Are her pop culture references and jokes going to be out of touch here? Is she going to be out of touch?

Hold on, she needs a moment. ]

Yeah, uh- A really, really awesome one. The first one. The other ones are kind of [ a hand teeter ] eeehhh.

That's cool! I'll have to see if they have something like it here.

[ The first one, anyway. Riz was able to find some movies resembling ones he knew back in Solace, so maybe Rose'll be able to find something like the Matrix!

Speaking of... ]

You should totally meet my friend Riz! He's been introducing me to movies. Though, he's kind of obsessed with ones about detectives. I kind of want to branch out a bit, you know? Do you have any ideas of stuff I should check out?

[ A girl can only watch so many noir films... ]

[ Hopefully! Even if the stars are Pokemon instead of people, it'd still likely be a classic. ]

Ah, yes, the noir genre. He sounds like a hipster already. [ rOSIE ] But I have tons of ideas! I'm a huge sucker for comedies. I love films that can make me laugh.

I guess... Not sure what a hipster is!

[ Riz probably is one, though. ]

Oh yes, comedy is one of my favorite genres, too!
