[There's...something of a lengthy pause with no reply on Gregory's end, because he was not expecting anyone else to pick up on this feed. It's open for "everyone" to access, she says...

This Ochako doesn't sound like the security guard, but that doesn't mean Gregory is any more inclined to trust her. He frowns, looking over as his Teddiursa climbs into his lap to try to help ease his nerves. He does relax a bit at that, putting his hand on the Pokemon's head for a moment before he curtly replies.]

What do you mean, everyone? Who's everyone? And where am I?

[He actually seems less concerned by the Pokemon than the people, strangely enough.]

[Yeah, the pause is completely understandable, and Ochako half expected it, really. Still, she wanted to let this kid know, because it's important he learns about this world right away, considering he seems, ah...not all that put together. Ochako's leaning a bit on some of her Hero training - learning how to be calm and informative, and not risk a blowout with a scared civilian, or provoke a desperate villain.]

All the people that arrive here and who are given a device like yours. It's called a Poke-Gear, but most people just call it a Gear. And, mmh...if I remember right, people start in Newbark Town, in the Johto region, but taking a ferry from the docks there will let you go to Kanto, the neighboring region past the mountains.

People...arrive here? This happens a lot?

[Whaaat on earth...he'd maybe understand weird things like that happening to him- it wouldn't be the first time- but to others? Adults, even?

Hm...]

I woke up in some lady's house...I woulda' left if she didn't make me leave. Is that Newbark?

Every so often, I think...but they all arrive in Newbark--yup, that's the one!! That weird lady that says she's your 'Mom'. [The sarcasm is practically dripping from the word.] But no one really knows why we get taken here, either, it just sort of...happens? Honestly, this place is kind of stupid in that it doesn't make any sense sometimes.

But if you need any help, or pointers, there is a guidebook in the backpack she gives you. It can at least answer some things, and others who've been here a long time can help, too.

Speaking of which, don't eat any wild berries you come across - they're all unsafe for humans.

...Oh. So it happens to everybody.

[The inflection that Gregory's tone takes on when he says that is a bit odd. It's hard to tell if he's relieved, or disappointed.

Regardless, he doesn't dwell on that point long at all and seems eager to move on to something else.]

If the berries are bad, what am I supposed to eat?

[He's used to finding what he can, that's no problem- but if Ochako is offering, maybe she can give him a better idea of where to start to look.]

Yeah, everyone gets taken here for whatever reason, and no one knows why or how... You just kind of have to deal with it until you get sent back. Worst part is, anyone with a qui--...erm, a special power they have from their world, or any traits that aren't inherently human, have them all taken away. It's really...mmh. I don't like it.

[not just because her quirk is gone, and she misses having it all the time, but because it just seems so hurtful to make people become something they're not. To alter them to 'fit the norm' as it were. That's always rubbed Ochako the wrong way when she learned about it.]

A-As for food...you should have a few days' worth of rations in your backpack, too, and some of the local currency. At the very least, Mom didn't throw us all to the wolves, ne? Besides that, a lot of the facilities offer discounted or free services to people registered as Trainers or Breeders. And you can make money by having your partner fight others peoples', too. They give you money if you win.

Oh!! And some Rockmen [Wrong franchise...] can find items in the wild, too One of mine does actually, and if you sell those items, you can sometimes get a lot of money.

But if you really need some food, I can deliver a bento to you.

Well...I don't have any special powers. I'm just a kid.

[He wishes he did though...he wouldn't have HALF the problems he does if he was more than just...himself.]

N-no, I...I don't need any help. I'm fine.

[He sounds a little...defensive saying that, his tone getting a bit gruffer.]

I'll figure something out on my own.

Ehehe, you know, I've actually come across a lot of really tough kids both back home and here, too. And I guess some people still consider me one, too.

[Technically, anyway, Ochako is only six--no, seventeen now, wow. And she hears the flicker of his tone, raising a brow slightly and frowning down at her Gear. Oh boy, is this another kid that thinks they can make it on their own in this place? Boy, oh boy, he's going to have a rude awakening.]

I think everyone needs help every now and then, and you'll come to find that people here are way more willing to help than in most other places. Ehehe, it's actually sort of something I'm working to do in my world - kind of like a future job.

My name's Ochako by the way. Uraraka Ochako.

[Sure, they're willing to help...but how is he supposed to know those same people aren't simply trying to gain his trust so they can turn around and trick him?

And if there's one thing Gregory doesn't give up easily these days, it's trust. Hard given, easily broken.]

So you're like...a police officer, or something.

[Sortof but also not really at all.]

...I'm...Gregory.

[Firstly, because there's not much to gain from it, and two...no one here really knows him, do they? Ochako sure doesn't, she just thinks he's a lost kid who needs help and has probably been through more than a kid should in whatever world he came from. It sure sparks a few memories of someone else she knows, who's been through hell from a young age...

Ochako makes an affirming noise to the Gear and then clears her throat.]

Ehh...n-no, not quite. There are police officers in my world, of course, but um...actually I'm schooling to be a Hero, a...P-Pro Hero. [She clears her throat.] A superhero, is probably more what you'd know. People in my world develop quirks--eh, I mean, su-superpowers...at a young age, so becoming a Hero isn't all that um...I guess weird? Where I'm from?? It's really just another job.

But it's very nice to meet you, Gregory-kun, my name is Uraraka. Uraraka Ochako, though you can call me Ochako-chan, if you want.

[naughtyboy]

[There's a long, LONG pause.

It's clear that Gregory is chewing on her words, but something in particular she just said is REALLY standing out to him.

And when he replies, Ochako might be able to tell that he's trying really hard not to give away how tentatively interested his voice sounds.]

You're...a superhero? Are you messing with me?
