A well placed ballista bolt.
[A half hearted shrug of one, now heavily scarred, shoulder. Then he sighs softly, lips curving in a wry sort of smile.]
I've no magic of my own here, Felix, there's no need for you to linger at such a distance. Please. Come sit down.
[No sense in having this conversation over such a distance and Lorenz is nothing if not polite to a fault.]
no subject
[Felix does, at least, seem unsurprised to hear that Lorenz died. But he could have died in any number of scenarios.
He sneers.]
You think I'd be afraid of your magic even if you could wield it? Don't flatter yourself, Gloucester. I have no desire to sit and have tea with a traitor.
no subject
But before he can come up with an explanation or any further questions Felix is spitting venom and Lorenz' expression sharpens, hurt and angry in an instance.]
Don't talk about things you don't understand, Fraldarius. You'll only make a fool of yourself.
[Should he even try to explain? What he remembers or why Felix is wrong on so many fronts in one foul sentence?]
no subject
[Huh, since when does Felix have opinions about Claude...?]
no subject
If you think for a moment I would stand against Claude you're more fool than I thought. I did everything in my power to undermine my Father's plans and keep what powers I could out of the hands of those monsters.
[He had died to ensure they would never be able to abuse his blood again, had pulled the Count's focus from Claude and Derdriu to the Southern borders of their territory by putting himself in harms way. Don't lecture him about how he didn't do enough.]
no subject
Tch. Isn't spilling your tea in a fit of passion some kind of etiquette violation?
[He has more words at the ready, but he pauses when Lorenz mentions monsters. Could he mean the people Lysithea told them about? His head tilts slightly.]
According to Claude, you abandoned him. You're saying you were, what, spying for the Alliance? Sabotaging the Empire?
[He doesn't sound impressed, but then he asks,]
By monsters, do you mean those strange mages?
no subject
Abandon...ed...
[He shakes his head a little but he knows precisely why Claude would feel that way, no matter how much he tried-
Lorenz turns to fix his chair, giving Felix his back for a moment and some part of him expects to feel a blade between his ribs any second. If he takes the moment to blink away the threat of tears on his lashes surely Felix will never notice. Not when he turns back to retake his seat with only the faintest dampness to his lashes.]
If you want information, fine.
[He finally lifts his cup to take a sip of his tea, hating the fact that his hands are shaking ever so slightly.]
But if all you want is to stand there and insult me.... [A shaky breath, the faintest sniff, and when he finishes speaking he simply sounds tired.] ... just go.
no subject
He rolls his eyes.]
Spare me the theatrics. If I didn't want information, I wouldn't have asked questions. Are you going to answer them, or just blubber into your tea?
no subject
Surely Claude at least would have understood he was trying to do what he could? That he wouldn't abandon him.
But Felix can't help himself from kicking a man when he's down and Lorenz just shakes his head, disgusted and upset and determined not to "blubber" in front of this man. So he stands, lifting his sinistea into his hands and leaving the tea he'd ordered from the shop abandoned on the table.]
I knew you were... abrasive, Felix. But I did not take you for a man to be needlessly cruel.
[He's walking away before he does something foolish like actually crying in front of him or, worse, telling him things that he might use as ammunition against him or others.]
the end...
Fine. He's bereft of magic and weapons, and he just got here so all he has is a weak Sinistea; he's no threat. He can be Claude's problem, Felix supposes.]
