New Bark Town | Action - Real Bug Hours

[Haga isn't known for liking people, but one thing's for sure: he likes his parents. And this lady talking to him? That's not his mom. Not even in a million years. As if it wasn't enough of a shock to wake up in a room that wasn't his, now this lady is spouting a bunch of nonsense about Pocket Monsters and how he has to so on a journey?

Before he can really argue with her - and believe it, he would argue for hours if given the chance - he's out the door. He bangs on the door, demanding an explanation, but it's clear the lady inside is pretending not to hear him. Typical adult behavior.

Haga let's out a loud "hmph!" and turns to look at the small town he's found himself in. This place is such a stark contrast to Domino it's not even funny. Not that Haga dislikes rural places and the outdoors. That's where the bugs are after all. But it's grating to only see a few houses here and there and not a single skyscraper in sight. He would be surprised if this place has running water and electricity.

With a sigh, he plops himself down on the ground and spills the contents of the bag given to him in front of him. At least the hag gave him some essentials to not die out here. He picks up the book labelled "manual" and begins to read it, before the shiny, white and red ball next to his foot catches his attention.

He picks it up and following the manual's instructions manages to get the Pokemon out of it. Out of it emerges a Foomantis.

Haga's eyes widen the moment they see the small bug Pokemon staring back at him. He reaches out a hand and touches its head as if to confirm that it is there.]

You... You are real!! [Haga opens the biggest smile and scoops the small bug on his arms.] You are just like a Duel Monster but I can touch you!!! This is so awesome! [He rubs his cheek against Foomantis', who just has a confused look on her face.

You could either tell him he's making a scene or you can just watch this nerd freak out over a bug.]

Route 30 | Network/Video - In His Element

[You wouldn't expect a nerdy and scrawny looking boy like Haga to be able to fend for himself in the great outdoors, but he's actually doing pretty good for himself, and is actually having a blast catching and training his bug team, if the dumb smile on his face is any indication.

Also, the fact that there are many random bug catchers around is a pleasant surprise. Specially because the extra outfit Haga got in his bag was just like the ones worn by the catchers in the routes. It... kinda made him feel like he belonged.

He heard from the bug catchers about a Pokemon called Spinarak that only showed up at night, so when the feed starts Haga is kind of in the dark and it's hard to see him, but his voice is hard to miss, even if he's whispering.]

It's been a while now and I can't seem to spot any Spinarak around here. Anyone has any tricks on how to lure out Pokemon? [He quickly learned that bug Pokemon don't exactly behave or act like regular bugs, so most of his knowledge from back home is a bit moot.]

[Freddy always loved the sight of youngsters enjoying things, that had not changed a bit when he'd ended up in a human body. After a few moments of watching the young man with his bug, he moved closer, attempting not to loom over them. With no connections to databanks to feed him profile information on the person he was talking to, he'd have to work out interacting for himself.]

It is good to see your happiness. Your small friend is quite cute, but also seems strong as well.

[Hopefully Haga isn't too intimidated by the six and a half foot man standing there, smiling in a shy manner, even as a Mimikyu bobs on his shoulder, one dark hand extended to hold itself in place. The spiked wrist bands and what looks like blue make up around his eyes and down his chin probably did nothing to make him more 'friendly' looking in a conventional sense.]

[Luckily for Freddy, Haga has seen his fair share of weird and unconventional people back in Domino, so the makeup and the spikes don't really faze him. What does faze him however is how big the man standing next to him is. It's a bit intimidating to be faced with a six feet person when you are just a little over five feet yourself. And you are sitting on the ground.]

W-Well, of course they are strong! [Haga quickly grows defensive more out of habit than anything. It's really nothing personal.] And they are just gonna get stronger when I start training them! [Haga is already set on becoming the best, even though he isn't even done reading the basics on that manual lying next to him.]

Y-Your partner looks cool too. [He tries his best to return the compliment and to focus on the small creature on the man's shoulder instead of his towering figure as he gets up, still holding Foomantis on his arms. It's kinda cute in a creepy way. He feels that Kozuka would like it if he was around.]

So, hm... you are new here too or...? [Is it too obvious he's bad at small talk?]

[He isn't completely oblivious that he's making the young man uncertain. So rather than remaining standing, he crouches down, to be less intimidating in size.]

I know you will train them up strong, I am sure you will become a champion. [He speaks with such sincerity that it's hard to even think he could be lying or exaggerating.]

Oh, thank you. He is very friendly. I've been thinking about naming him Mike. Do you know what you might name your friend? Or do you think you won't give them a name?

[Haga can't deny that he gets very strong fatherly vibes from this guy. Which is very unusual because most of the adults he got to meet back in Domino were nowhere near this nice. He honestly doesn't quite know how to react to those words of encouragement and support.]

I... [It takes him a second but quickly switches back to his overconfident attitude.] I'm definitely going to become a champion! And I'm gonna do that in record time! [He nods, as if to reassure himself of the words he just said.]

I don't really know what to name them... [He peeks at the Foomantis who seems to have gotten used to her place on Haga's arms and is just cuddling against his chest. He can't help but smile at the sight. She's just so cute...

He suddenly shakes his head to snap out of it. No, this is time to focus!] B-Before I think about silly stuff like names I need to finish reading this thing... [He looks around his feet and quickly grabs the manual next to it.] I'm gonna read this and master everything that's in it!

[Freddy nods enthusiastically, smiling brightly at the confidence of the young man.] I know you can do it Champ.

[It's so good to see the confidence in the Haga. Sure some of it may be him speaking positive to encourage himself, but even that could be helpful. He wouldn't be dismissing it, that was for sure.] I doubt you need much help from someone like me, but if there ever is anything, I'd be happy to help.

My name is Freddy, by the way.

[Haga feels the urge to say something along the lines of 'of course I can and I don't need anyone's help!' but he finds it hard to be so abrasive towards someone who sounds so sincere in their words and compliments. Maybe he can be nice this once...]

T-thanks...

I'm Haga, hm, nice to meet you. [He thinks about shaking hands with the guy but realizes both his hands are occupied at the moment, so he just offers a small bow.]

So, assuming you also came from somewhere else like me... Is that make-up of yours like a regular thing back in your, like, world? [He would be lying if he said it isn't a lil' distracting.]

[The positive response from the young man brightened Freddy even further, seeming to enjoy just the good interaction.

He awkwardly bowed in response, not a common action for him.]

Make-up? [He raised a hand that has what could have been very intimidating, long purple claw-like nails, to rub lightly at the area around his eyes.] Oh, my markings! They are normal for me, and the other members in the band, but I guess they could seem a bit strange. Not everyone has them on.

I actually am a bit different that I was before.

What is your home like?

Ah, you are in a band... [That easily explains the facepaint, spikes and long nails. At least he'll know not to ask any more question about this guy's looks. Even if he's a bit curious about what this dude means by "a bit different".]

Well, where I came from sure looks different from this place. It certainly isn't this... rural. [He takes another look around at the small houses and trees surrounding the town.] This place isn't the worst but it's weird not being surrounded by big buildings. [And the tech. Specially the tech.]

I guess you aren't used to a place like this either, hm? [If this guy was in a band before he definitely was used to crowds and more modern towns.]

[Freddy gives the area another look too, a small bit of wonder just noticeable on his face.] I am not. This is the first place I've ever been outside before, at least that I remember.

[Hmm... that probably sounds a bit bad... maybe he can kept it from seeming too strange?] The Pizzaplex was quite large, so I had a lot of room to wander, when I wanted to. We were just not able to leave the Pizzaplex, we wouldn't have the ability to charge outside, and without that our batteries would drain. That's what they explained to me. [They had been the staff members, before the S.T.A.F.F. bots had filled in those roles. He never did find out why that had happened.]

[Haga's face changes from neutral to skeptical to confused as he hears Freddy talk. The plan to make things sound less strange clearly didn't work.]

Wait, wait! Charge? Batteries? Are... are you some kind of cyborg or something? [Haga leans forward to take a closer look at Freddy, eyes narrow behind his thick glasses. Domino had some really advanced tech, but he couldn't remember ever seeing a robot that looked this close to a real person.]

A band made of robots... hmm... [He seems to be talking to himself and just jumping to his own conclusions, while still eyeing Freddy with curiosity and a hint of suspicion.]

[Oh, right, he was human now, of course he didn't look like he needed a charge.]

Before, I was an animatronic. [He reached up to rub the back of his head a little sheepishly.] I normally am a bear, Freddy Fazbear. I am a little shorter than I was, and I don't have my ears here. [He used his hands to give the idea of small, round, bear ears.]

[Pardon Haga as he becomes increasingly more confused the more Freddy talks.]

You telling me that you were a bear robot and you got turned into a human when you got here? Am I getting this right? [Considering that they were transported to a new world with no explanation, a robot being turned into a human shouldn't be that out of the realm of possibilities but still...]

That's... That can't be right! Why coming here would turn you human? There's no reason or explanation for that! [Now he's starting to think Freddy is trying to pull his leg out something.]

Yes, I was created as an animatronic bear, but when I woke up here I was human, or... from everything I can tell I am human. I did not want to risk long term damage to find out if this is just some strange shell.

[He really didn't need to go that far, at least not for himself.]

I am unsure why arriving here would make me human... unless whatever brought me here knew I would not be able to charge without the charging stations and thought this would be easier. I am not sure why I arrived here at all, honestly.

This is all... very confusing. [And suspicious. Sure Haga has seen his fair share of strange happenings back in Domino - spirits that rest inside artifacts, some guy that lived thousands of years who wanted to destroy the world, a stone that removes people's souls... But that doesn't change the fact he's still very skeptic about things.

But... he'll give Freddy the benefit of the doubt for now. The guy looks just as confused and uncertain about what's going on so Haga will cut him some slack. Maybe being transported to this place is making him say nonsense. Who knows at this point.]

I have to agree with you on one thing though: I also have no clue why I was brought here. I appreciate the fact they gave me an insect and all, but I'm not sure what they want me to get out of this. [Is this some kind of trial? Maybe he pushed his luck one too many times and now he's supposed to repent for the things he did wrong?]

It is very confusing... [He paused to think for a moment before smiling a bit.] Maybe what they want you to get out of it, is exactly what you were saying before. That you will be the best. Maybe they just want to see you become the best you can be, and succeed.

[If it was just him, or others like him, he'd have a different answer, but with Haga, he could not believe it would be the same for this boy.]

Be the best... [Haga seems to talk more to himself than anything. He did tell Freddy that a bit earlier, didn't he? In between all this crazy talk he kinda forgot about it.

Haga was reminded of how things were back in Domino. How he got to be on top of the world and how hard he fell from grace. Sure he was the only one to blame for what happened - even if he tried to tell himself it was other people's fault - but now, in this place? This was like a blank slate.

With sudden determination in his eyes he looks up at Freddy.]

If that's what this place wants from me, that's what it's gonna get! I'm gonna be best thing this place has ever seen and everyone is gonna know who I am and how amazing I can be! [He feels his hand clench around the guidebook on his hand while Fomantis looks up at him with her small head tilted to the side.]

[Freddy smiles encouragingly to Haga as the other considers the idea and when he declares his intention, the man looks like he could light up a room with his expression.]

That's the way Champ. I believe in you, and will be rooting for you. I can't wait to hear everyone talking about Haga the Champion.

[Nothing feels better to him than seeing someone excited and determined for a dream. If he can help encourage it at any time, he will.]

[It's still quite weird to hear someone be this supportive and encouraging towards him, but he has to admit hearing someone say "Haga the Champion" brings the best memories to his mind.]

Yes! I'm gonna be a champion again and no one is gonna take that away from me this time! [Stupid Yuugi and his friends aren't around to mess things up. He got this in the bag!]

[He didn't ask, but he wondered what had happened to have Haga hold the title of champion and then lose it.]

It's good to have high goals. I know you can make it.

Than- [Haga stops himself before he can finish whatever he was about to say. Those encouraging words are starting to really mess with him!]

I mean, of course I can make it! Anyone who doubts me doesn't know what I'm capable of!

[Freddy hears that slip, and he wants to encourage polite responses, so he responds to the aborted word.]

You are welcome.

[Don't worry Freddy, he's gonna learn to say 'thank you' eventually.]

Well, it has been nice and all, but if you excuse us, Queenie and I have a lot of important business to attend to! [He looks around at the items scattered around the ground, noticing he didn't even put them back in his bag yet.]

Err... as soon as I get all this organized! [He crouches and begins to awkwardly stuff his things back into the backpack, with Fomantis - which is now named Queenie it seems - standing next to him.]

[Freddy smiled, endeared to the young man even more for his personality.]

Of course, I will stop delaying you. I will look forward to hearing of your success Champ.

[Rather than keeping the boy any longer, Freddy gave him a wave before moving to give him room to finish packing his stuff up and heading on his way.]
