( Who would win in a fight: a literal child, or a grown woman who barely knows how to use her body? The answer might surprise you. )

Ah-ah-aaaaaah. Not so fast. I've finally found you! And now that I have...

( Now that she has, she's going to do the one thing she's been meaning to do all night: she takes her arms, wrap them around Gregory's head... and pulls her up against her chest in a hug. )

You must be so worried, all alone out here, surrounded by wild Pokémon! It's dangerous! Here— ( She gets to her feet, still hugging Greg, though it's now more as if she's half-way carrying him. ) Let's see if we can find you somewhere safe. Your family must be more worried about you than ever!

( The change of heart sounds sudden, and it is. Chica doesn't have much understanding of anything beyond her programming, and now that her circuits have been replaced with synapses, it's far easier to exert her own power her actions. )

It looks like there's a town this way. Will you stick close to me?

[Oh god, it's happening. He's being crushed to death-

...except, no, that's not at all what's going on. He's being held tightly for sure, but it's more of a hug than a deliberately crushing hold. He's no more receptive to it of course, but it's better than like...dying, he's pretty sure.]

Mmmph-!

[Chica might not have full command of all of her new human appendages yet, but that doesn't mean she isn't still stronger than Gregory is physically. He's still a child no matter how you slice it, so lifting him up in her arms shouldn't be a problem. It...might be more of an issue with the way he's still struggling, eventually turning his head so he can actually speak (and breathe).]

H-hang on!

[Cause yeah, that change of heart IS sudden. He cranes his neck to look at her, and it strikes Gregory suddenly to realize that the last time he'd seen Chica...her face wasn't exactly whole like it is right now. In fact, most of it was missing thanks to his actions, so it's dawning on him that if anything the last thing Chica should want to do right now is help the child who hurt her so badly.

But Gregory isn't heartless. He didn't enjoy what he did to her, but he's also not about to remind her of it if somehow she's forgotten.]

Why...why should I trust you? You're just gonna take me to Vanessa, or Vanny, or whoever!

( Gregory sure is squirmy. It takes a lot to hold on to him, even if he is half her size. Maybe setting him down would be easier, so she does, but she squats before him so she can meet his eye. )

Vanny? There's no one in the Pizzaplex named Vanny, silly!

( She has to laugh at that, even if it sounds a little rough around the edges. Something about losing her beak in another life, hm? Perhaps? )

And Vanessa is our friend! She always makes sure we have everything we need after our show. You shouldn't be afraid of her, either.

You don't understand.

[Gregory says that firmly when Chica finally puts him down, taking advantage of that to put a bit of space between them. For his credit, Gregory at least doesn't try to run, staring Chica down as she regards him at eye-level.

But he definitely does not look happy. Not even remotely.]

None of you do! Only Freddy does...

[He grumbles that last part, his hands tightening into fists at his sides.]

She's trying to get me. I don't know what she wants...but it's not good, I know it.

Vanessa wants to get you?

...

( Chica's eyes go blank as her head falls to the side. For a moment, she resembles her shambling form, the one that Gregory will be most familiar with. )

You mean the way you got me?

...I only wanted to help you, Gregory. We all did.

We only wanted to help. Vanessa wants to help you. Your family is looking for you, after all. OUR FRIENDLY SECURITY STAFF CAN HELP!

( To her credit, Chica doesn't look like she'll be making a grab for Gregory. )

Don't you want our help, little boy?

[Maybe she doesn't look it...but the way her tone changes? The way she's speaking, changes?

A brief look of terror flits across the boy's expression for just a fraction of a second as he jerks back away from Chica, his whole body flinching. There's guilt there too, hidden up underneath it all.]

I-...I didn't ask for anybody's help! And...and I only...

I was just trying to defend myself! If you weren't chasing me, I wouldn't...wouldn't have...

I was only following my programming...

( Because maybe, just maybe she can see how Gregory might have been terrified by the giant animatronics chasing him around. But not really. Little kids love them! They always cheer for her at their shows! Why wouldn't they want her to chase him after the show?

Once she found him, surely she would return him to his family. Right? That's all she would do... just make sure he got home safe? )

But that's all right, Gregory.

You were afraid.

( when she lunges for him this time, it's just as jerky as it would be back in the pizzaplex, but there's no malice behind it. she wraps him up in another hug. )

We're sorry we scared you.

[This is all so...weird. Chica being a human is weird enough, first and foremost, but...he really shouldn't trust her, should he? But then...what can she do to him here, really? She has no pizzaplex to drag him back to, as far as he knows. No Vanessa, or Vanny (he HOPES). And, well...even if she tries to find his parents, she won't.

So that just leaves Gregory standing there tensely as Chica hugs him, his heart hammering with the urge to fight his way free, or run away at the first opportunity...but her apology does stay his nerves somewhat. None of the animatronics had apologized before, none except Freddy.

While he doesn't relax, exactly- or return her hug- he does kindof...lean a little closer, reflexively, into the comfort of someone else's embrace.]
