( Staring blankly into the camera is a thin, colorfully-dressed woman. Her short, white hair is askew and her cheerful demeanor is nowhere in sight. )

So this is what the end is like.

If I'm here, in this body, it means Gregory finally won.

Isn't that fun?

( Piplup, clearly not liking whatever trance its owner is in, gives Chica a few pushes. If that doesn't work, Piplup isn't above a good ol' fashioned drill beak to snap Chica back to the real world.

Chica, in turn, scoops Piplup and sends it in her lap. )

Don't worry, Piplup. We'll find Gregory.

And when we do, we'll take back what's ours.

Has anyone seen a little boy?

( Contrasting her first, rather disturbing network, the one that follows a few days later couldn't be more opposite. Chica is lying on her stomach facing her Piplup, arms folded under her head, while her Piplup mirrors her, lying on it's belly as well. They both seem to be in some kind of stare-down, though the corners of Chica's mouth waver in what looks like a smile. )

Piplup?

Piplup?

Piplup.

Piplup!

Piplup! Pippluppp!

( It eventually dissolves into them both sounding like this, going back and forth before Chica turns to the camera, a playfully exasperated look on her face, while Piplup does the same. )

Can anyone translate?

New Bark Town

( Chica's never been on a boat before. Up until now, she's never even been outside before. The boat, for some reason, some particularly exciting to her. She can't wait to explore the open ocean, feel the wind through her hair, taste the salt in the air—

Wait, this place costs money? But the only money Chica knows of comes in the form of Pizza Passes and Daycare Slips! )

Excuse me! I don't have any money, but I can play the guitar! ( Which she also doesn't have... Yeah, no, the dock-workers aren't accepting that one. It's pay the fee or find some other way out of town. )

Aw, shucks.

Hey, hey! Can you sing? ( She's talking to you, dear stranger. ) If we sing together, maybe they'll let us through. There's nothing that music can't solve!

[Hags is caught very much off guard by the sudden question and just stares for a second.]

M-Me? Sing? Y-You are asking the wrong person! [As much as Haga likes to think he's good at everything, lying about that would certainly blow up in his face immediately. He would rather save himself the headache.]

And what do you think you are gonna accomplish by just singing randomly?

Singing brings people together, silly!

( Why would this boy be the wrong person? Anyone can sing! Chica has heard tons of children sing at her shows! Maybe not well, but who's judging? )

If we sing, maybe these dock workers will let us on to the boats? Or they'll give us money! And we can use the money to get on to the boats! And explore!

[Yep, it's the singing bad part that worries him. This lady might not judge him but the random dock workers and passerby's sure are going to.]

I highly doubt they are going to let us in just because we offered them a song... [Either this lady is very naive or she comes from a place way too different from this one.]

As for making money with it... Unless you are good at it there's no way people are just gonna throw money at us!

( She pauses, her smile faltering. )

I can't sing. Not anymore.

So! I'll have to support you as much as I can! You'll have to work hard to earn us our money, otherwise we'll never be able to leave this place. And I want to see what other kinds of Pokemon are out there! Don't you?

[Well, he does want to see new Bug Pokemon, sure, but is taking a boat really the best option?]

You are putting a lot of faith on someone you just met, lady... [He doesn't know if this woman is too trusting or if he's way too suspicious of everyone. Could be a bit of both.]

And while I do want to see other Pokemon, I think we can just take the road on the other side of the town and... leave? Without having to pay for a boat?

[Boober jumps a little when he's addressed, but then that's what he gets for eavesdropping, isn't it? He heard "guitar" and that got his interest, not that he'd ever admit that. When what she asked sinks in, he holds his hands up and shakes his head adamantly.]

I-I mean, I can, but do I have to?

[Come on, the one thing better about being here than being back home is that life hasn't been a constant dance party.]

( Well, no, he doesn't HAVE to, but why wouldn't he want to? Singing is fun! His response has her puzzled. )

You mean, you don't like to sing..?

But singing makes people happy?

[He scoffs and shakes his head.]

It doesn't make me happy. [A sigh.] Well... Sometimes I do like singing, but it always ends up being a big to-do.

O-Oh...

( She has to frown at that. Not only does she not understand, but she doesn't want to make her new friend unhappy, either. )

If singing doesn't make you happy, what does?

I very much doubt you'll find some mere child here, any more than I'll be able to look the Omnipotent in the face as I bring an end to all he sought to create. Cry some more, why don't you.

( Killing god is a little beyond her programming, so she's left looking blankly at the screen for a spell. )

There are a lot of red flags here. The boy- barely teenager now, which is weird for him to think about if he's honest- stares with wide eyes at the screen, and only barely manages to speak with a stiff voice.]
