[ he wonders why the woman's focus lingers on his noibat, who for the most part, was looking at a resting spinarak that was out of frame. at least noibat was staying still, his trainer decided. ]

Exactly. The moves the pokémon uses have to be morphed into ones that reflect beauty rather than force, and it takes practice to do so. I believe its common for a pokémon's trainer be part of the show, as well.

[Do people really gain such satisfaction out of what seems to be a simple concept? Can others be swayed and influenced by beauty more than force? It provides her a great deal of food for thought and he has no idea of even knowing it.]

What a peculiar idea. I believe I will need to see some of these myself. Have you partaken of any?

[ the way she repeated his words echoed how often he would do the same when something interested him. sandalphon couldn't help but be interested as to what kind of world she was living in for a statement like that to have such impact. when asked if he's participated, he shakes his head. ]

I have not, but the idea has interested me enough to attempt to try one, when they come round. I know some of my pokémon would be interested when the time comes around.

[ the noibat, despite its current distraction, gave a little nod of affirmation. he was definitely interested. ]

[Rhea nods thoughtfully.]

You must be very close to yours to know what they would or would not like.

[She can't say she understands her ralts particularly well at all. She isn't sure she could tell what it'd like.]

Do they speak with you?

I've spent centuries learning how to speak with creatures like these. It's very simple to pick up their needs once you've accustomed yourself to their way of communication.

[ it was a time of captivity and isolation-- he was lucky animals were around to at least alleviate that monotony. ]

If you travel alone in this world, I'm sure the talent will come to you as well.

Centuries? Then you must be very good with them.

[...What could he be that he would see so many years? Something similar to her, perhaps. How many centuries has she seen? Perhaps by this point Rhea has lost count. As he continues, she offers a subtle dip of her head, thoughtful at best, though that seems to have been her state of being since arrival.]

Although there may be some here I am familiar with from my home world, I should think it wisest, perhaps, to integrate myself at my own pace. That may include travelling in solitude at times.

[Or many times, given that she still seems to have drawn a line between herself and those who knew her.]

[ the noibat in his lap nodded furiously, crying out for added affirmation. yes, his trainer was very good at understanding him and his teammates. he wouldn't change him for anyone else. sandalphon notes this and has the self awareness to blush lightly. ]

Again, it's merely practice. I can guarantee you it does get easier.

[ he nods at the sentiment. being alone allows one to gather one's thoughts, to come to a conclusion that satisfies them. but for him, whose entire life has been defined by isolation, he can't stand it sometimes. it was with that thought his next words were guided. ]

If you ever feel the need to speak to someone, no matter how frivolous... Feel free to speak with me. I'll lend an ear. My name is Sandalphon.

[His noibat... Charming. Rhea wears a smile, once again taking some time to appreciate him. She is surrounded by those creatures of large and smaller sizes and many of them remain foreign in name, even if she can say she has seen them before.

When Sandalphon provides her a more proper introduction, she dips her head in both respect and acknowledgement before she settles a hand along her collar.]

I am Lady Rhea.

[Archbishop, she leaves out. It is highly unlikely that anyone would know or care what the Church of Seiros is here. She is not arrogant enough to believe her position holds any weight here. But to simply call her 'Rhea' feels altogether too informal.]

It is a pleasure to meet you, Sandalphon. I may have many more questions for you. I hope you will not tire of them quickly.

[ he wonders what's with the title of lady, but he's accustomed to it. he can't help but think about the elemental primarchs, however. their wings may be his, but they never did make him stop calling them ladies and lords. ]

The pleasure is mine, Lady Rhea. [ he chuckles lightly. ] I doubt I will. I have nothing but time. Any other question come to mind?

[It is nice that he plays along. Rhea, in truth, would not be wholly surprised if he chose to drop the title. After all, she's no 'Lady' here in this world either. Either way, it leaves him and her smile grows, just a tad.

He invites her to ask of him more and she chooses to accept that. But what she follows up with is not a terribly profound one.]

Yes. [She begins before she gestures to his noibat.] Does your companion have a name?

[dejabrewed]

[ the noibat looks up when she mentions him, trilling curiously. sandalphon glances down with a small smile. ]

This little thing? His species is a Noibat, but I've given him the name Sariel. [ a breathy laugh. ] I've only given him the name due to the resemblance he has to a friend of mine.

[seirosscriptures]

Sariel.

[The way she says it is soft and thoughtful, perhaps a mannerism to be expected from someone like her. As she carries herself, it's a rarity that Rhea speaks without some form of contemplation seeping into her voice. As if she's always thinking and that kind of assessment isn't inaccurate.]

A lovely name. This must be a friend of yours you miss. If you do not mind my prying, how long has it been that you have been here?

[Long enough to name a Noibat, obviously, but she can hardly gauge a proper amount of time based off of that alone.]

[ the angel looks thoughtful at her words of missing his friend. sariel was indeed a friend, but he didn't know what became of him. he wonders if giving the noibat his name was a way to honor him, or just a simple reminder of his own failures. ]

I... I do. He's one of the few angels that didn't deserve what happened to him.

[ he doesn't elaborate further, opting to answer rhea's question instead of continuing. ]

I've been here about 5 months. I had a brief reprieve back home in between, but I've returned here nonetheless.

[He's good at leaving her with more questions. She can't help thinking that she must give off the same impression to those with whom she is more familiar. Rhea is a plethora of labyrinthine mysteries, many of which she chooses not to address. And given that she hardly likes it when people pry her for information, she's not inclined to start doing that here. At least, not with anyone who isn't of Fódlan.

Instead, she nods slowly.]

So it is possible to return to your home world at times, then. And you retain the memories of your time here? How curious. I wonder what magic allows such a thing to take place.

[Especially given that no one exactly offered Rhea an invitation to be in this place at this point.]

When I first arrived I thought it was the will of the dragon we call the Omnipotent back home, but it seems to be something else pulling the strings. I still haven't found out what, but I do plan on digging deeper.

[ he's determined to find the answer, because a surprise arrival of one he thought trapped between dimensions was now here, and he was at a loss as to how. ]

As for memories of this place, unfortunately that's something you lose when you return home.

I see.

[Then it would be possible to be pulled to and fro. Likelihood being that the only ones who would remember such a thing would be those who remain. Those who witness one being sent back to their world only to return.

She's filing away all of the information he's chosen to share with her, though a great deal of it doesn't quite make sense. Of course it doesn't. She is far too new to be comfortable or even remotely complacent about her predicament.]

Is there any other information that you feel would benefit me?

[Amusing, how something that started so lighthearted with contests has become so heavy with the weight of necessity.]

[dejabrewed]

[ sandalphon takes a moment to gather his thoughts, trying to see what else would be useful. of course, if he could, he would tell her everything, but sometimes things are better experienced than told. he figured he can let her into some smaller details about the world. ]

There is one thing: if someone approaches you asking for a battle, they usually refer to your Pokémon battling. Violence between us outsiders is considered a crime. I've also been told that if you're considered a Breeder, this won't happen as much.

[seirosscriptures]

[Rhea nods slowly. It's not the first time she's heard about battling. She doesn't know a tonne about that either, but... At least she knows more than nothing. Sort of. She's reluctantly accepted that by this point, she is very much in a situation of no control. Lacking control. It's not her favourite place to be.]

I am only minutely familiar with the idea of battling. I confess I would prefer to avoid that, if I could manage it. Do you suppose it is possible to do so?

If there was a way, I would have at least mentioned it.

[ there's no malice in his words. in fact, it sounded as if he was tired, almost exhausted from the constant battle. for the most part, sandalphon has accepted the normality of battling, but it doesn't fail to simply tire him out with how gung-ho some trainers are. ]

The only solution I've come across is staying within the cities that you travel into, but more often than not you will be battling.
