[If Genya doesn't turn his video on, or spend too much time looking at the weird device and weirder doctor, he can pretend he's not talking to a girl. Besides, he's pretty sure that Shinobu doesn't count as a girl. Just a creepy doctor.]

I think you're correct, Shinazugawa-kun. Most insects in their larval state are weak and prone to such accidents! I'm sure once this little guy gets bigger, they'll will be more protected and less prone to being hurt!

Or you could step on it. Put it out of its misery. They're all demons anyway -- what's the point of keeping 'em alive?

Demons? Oh, no, you must be mistaken! You should know better than anyone else what demons really are! [ Shinobu makes the weedle wave a little, which it seems content to do. ] Don't be so silly.

And what's that supposed to mean? [He knows exactly what she means, but maybe if he growls and snaps enough, she'll take it back.]

I've never seen a dumb bug with a horn. I have seen plenty of bug demons and demons with horns. Do the math.

[ She pets the weedle, smiling like a knife. ] Do they eat people? Do they ruin entire families? Do they orphan children and widow lovers? Oh! Maybe you know better than I-- if you eat one, do you suddenly become a bug with a horn, Shinazugawa-kun?

[Genya picks the worst time to chance a look at his screen. It's a good thing he hasn't bothered with video -- the way he shrinks back is humiliating.]

Might as well be a demon. [His voice is a low mutter.] Since you're making friends with it.

[ And like that, she laughs like a charm in the wind, and instantly the intensity is gone. ] That might be true! People have said such things about me before!

[The super great thing about being so unfamiliar with this technology is that he has no idea how sensitive microphones are. He's pretty sure he's being sneaky by whispering under his breath, but, well...]

He's always so worried about everything! He was inconsolable during your Final Selection. [ Instinctively, Shinobu knows where to pick, to poke, to hit, to sneak in past armour and defence. She doesn't mean harm by her words, instead trying to figure out how the younger Shinazugawa works. ] He never knows how to express himself, though.
