I feel it too. I don't know how, but it's like I'm... a person again?
[She crinkled her nose.]
Or like one of my senses went dark. A three-dimensional thing pushed onto a two-dimensional plane. Or something. Dunno if that makes any sense... point is yeah that's something that happens here.
no subject
Did you stop being a person at some point?
no subject
[Astrid herself flipped between her own beliefs on the matter, depending on the day. She didn't seem to mind the lack of reciprocal video.]
Trapped for a bit in an extra-dimensional space that may or may not be sentient, came back with weird powers. You know. What's your thing?
no subject
Hah. The same, in a way. Though I had powers before.
no subject
[She seemed almost dismissive when she said it, giving him a shrug.]
Yeah? Was that normal, or was it just you?
no subject
It wasn't normal as most people would understand it. Though many in similar positions to myself exceeded 'normal'. Some more than others.
no subject
I've got somebody back home too... my brother. I've heard that no time passes there, when you're here? So they at least won't have a chance to miss you.
no subject
no subject
Oh, I thought... I assumed you were all together. Sorry; I was stuck in the Void with a bunch of other kids, and we all came back kind of wrong.
no subject
Except for one, I think. But he appeared to loathe me when last we met.
no subject
[It seems like a change of topic will be welcome.]
How new are you? And what little monster did you get first?
no subject
I've only been here roughly forty-five minutes. My creature is...a Cubone, according to this device. I have no idea what that means. It's not a monster type I've heard of before.
no subject
Yeah, me neither, but they seem to get along with people well. They really like sparring with other monsters, and there's a whole conclave system just to facilitate it.
[Astrid hesitated to call them battles, since it was supposed to be all in good fun.]
We can meet up and I can show you? I just got a new little guy who needs training with something close to his level.
no subject
We can meet if you'd like. But I'm not sure my creature wishes to battle, and I have no intention of forcing it. It...seems to lack confidence.
no subject
[Astrid pulls out her Pokegear and taps at it.]
Okay, you said you just got here so that should put you in New Bark... Cherrygrove is close, just to the west if you wanna meet up there.
Who should I look for?
no subject
Honestly...he's so distinctive a figure that it's hard to think of just what to tell her to look for specifically. He considers for a moment.]
Look for a man with unusual eyes. They'll be obvious even at a distance. [This is vague enough to not give his identity away entirely to people who might know him and take understandable issue with him, but also a clear identifying marker.]
no subject
I shouldn't be long! Whenever you show up, I'll be by the Pokecenter. Big building with a red roof.
[Tycho had just learned Teleport, so it really wasn't long after she ended the call that Astrid was outside said building and leaning on the wall by the door. Tycho, a small Elgyem, was munching on a poffin.
Astrid herself is also fairly small and odd in a way that doesn't really translate over video. The odd eyes and Void scar had been clear, but light seems to be swirling behind her pupils. Her skin is ashy almost to the point of being depigmented.]
no subject
The black leather alone would have been enough. The waterfall of silver hair would have been enough. The glowing green cat-slit pupil eyes (which, he was right, she can't miss even in a crowd) would have been enough. The fact that this man is 6'6" would have been enough. But he is all of these things together, and the effect is rather like seeing an orca in a kiddie pool.
She's to be forgiven if, in her marveling that a man like this chose not to describe himself any better than he did, he spots her and approaches first.] I believe you were looking for me. [His voice is low, very subtle in its inflections - to the point of barely having any - but courteous.]
no subject
I mean... I guess you didn't lie.
no subject
[Already, he's giving the impression of being...slightly off. Not in a bad way, but in the way someone reciting words in a language they don't actually understand might be off.]
no subject
I'm Astrid, by the way.
no subject
[He nods to her slightly.] Sephiroth.
[From behind one leather-clad leg, a Cubone peeks out at her.]
no subject
[Spotting the Cubone, Astrid smiles and kneels down to be at eye-ish level.]
Hey, buddy. Big world out here, huh? [She holds her hand out partway, palm-up.] What's your name?
