If she shows up, though, that'd kinda interfere with what she's doing back home as it is, so you might as well take advantage of her help if she comes.

That is true, but I will hope that she does not.

Others' abilities will also return. Do you know who here has powerful affinity for Ice? It is the one magic that I could not truly resist as a demon.

I'm afraid I don't. I know about some Ice Pokemon, though.... There's Glaceon and Piplup and Delibird and the Alolan Vulpix and Ninetales. Make sure it's the Alolan ones if you try to find them. The other ones are Fire type. I think there's a couple of ice caves here, but I don't know if you could get to them in time.

Perhaps not, but I can ask if others have those companions, and if they will help kill me if the worst happens.

I'm pretty sure some do. I'd like a Glaceon myself, but I don't have one yet....

[He winces.]

Well, uh ... there's another problem. I hear people don't die here, even if they're in a situation where normally they would.

[On the one hand, that could be good news. But on the other ... even if people didn't die, they would still be traumatized if attacked.]

What happens when someone is wounded to the point of death? Is there anyone that would know?

I'm not sure how we know people don't die at all. Someone must have died and didn't sometime in the past, but I don't know who it would have been. There's a few people who've been here quite a few years. They might know something.

And everyone who has been brought here is able to receive and respond to this communication device, correct? I can ask openly in that case.

Yeah, that's probably the best way to reach out. Everyone who's currently here should see it.

Hmm. Well, a lot of the areas between towns are isolated, but some more than others. After Violet City, there's different roads you can take. The Southern path goes through a cave and then to another town. There's a huge forest on the other side of that town. The Northern path goes down a short road and gets you to a town much quicker. Sometimes there's a fake tree Pokemon blocking that road, but that hasn't happened much lately.

Is there a reason to go to the town to the south? What are the defenses of these places? This place I woke up in had none.

[crystalmaster]

Probably not unless you just wanna see everything or if you especially like Slowpokes. That's a kind of Pokemon. They're pretty cute, but I haven't braved the Southern path yet. I went North, through the next town that way, down into the National Park, and into Goldenrod City. That's the biggest urban hub here.

Who is in control of that territory of Goldenrod? Or any of the territories here? How is this place ruled?

[crystalmaster]

... That's a good question. I think these places have mayors, but there's nothing like governors or presidents or armies, as far as I know. You asked about the defenses, but I think there's just natural defenses like the caves and forests, and territorial Pokemon. There aren't any wars, but there is a criminal organization called Team Rocket. They steal Pokemon, so you'll need to watch out for them if you can. A lot of their members are secret.

It is very different from what I am used to. I don't know what I am supposed to be here. I was a soldier and that was all.

[crystalmaster]

I felt pretty lost at first too. I'm a businessman and a biker. I was pretty out of my element when I was plopped here. I think I'm settling in now that I'm getting a business going again.

They do have a police force, but I'm not sure if there's open applications for that.... I might want a security guard, if you'd be up for that.

[papacerberus]

Will it involve killing? I no longer wish to do that. But I can protect and defend, if necessary.

[crystalmaster]

I hope not. Protecting and defending is more what I'm after. I'm opening an Eevee sanctuary and it might end up a prime target for Team Rocket.

[He holds up his first Eevee, Evie.]

They're pretty valuable and sought-after Pokemon.

["Eevee!" chirps Evie.]

In addition to just looking adorable, they can ultimately change into eight different Pokemon. Glaceon is one of them.

I would be happy to protect them, I think.

[He isn't sure of the concept of 'value' on a life, but protecting a small and fragile life is important.]

Great! I'll keep the job open for you until you get here. It'll probably take you a few days to get here to Goldenrod, if you wanna start out for it right away.
