[ dorothea hasn't been here in this strange world long, but it isn't hard to figure out that trainers live comfortable enough lives. level up her pokémon, challenge people to battles, and she'll be able to survive whatever might be thrown her way. at least, that's what she's thinking.
the trainer school seems good enough a place as any to start. she can be found studying after a course there, humming along to the ever-present music she's already gotten used to. if not there, she'll be offering to work in the vineyards when she can, eager to make a little more money in her free time.
or, of course, you might run into pamina the popplio, a pokémon whose curiosity and tendency to roam is certainly keeping dorothea on her toes. if you find her popplio, she won't be far behind, already protective over the little creature. ]

To anyone who might read this.
I've been having a lovely time here. But as I learn more about this world, I can't help but wondering - do *all* Pokémon enjoy battling? Certainly they must have personalities of their own.

Also hi, Dorothea. It's Byleth.

[He chuckles fondly.]
And then some of my other ones aren't that interested at all.

So seeing her here isn't really a surprise, so much as something he's been sort of hoping for but not really expecting. He bypasses text entirely to video call her.]
...Dorothea. It sounds like you've only recently arrived. In answer to your question, most of them do, because it's how they learn and grow. But some of them are content to laze about.
[He glances off to the side of the screen with a wry and mildly disapproving look, and a moment later a smug-looking Glameow meanders over to plop down directly in front of the Gear, obscuring the camera's view of everything else.]
Ugh. Move. You're in the way, I can't see her.
[Meow, says the Glameow, and continues to sit exactly where it is.]

As for pokémon, they're plenty intelligent enough to communicate their likes and dislikes to us. You must have noticed they can understand us perfectly, right? So the ones that don't like battling can always let you know if they want to avoid it, whereas the ones that are eager to are usually even more obvious.
Of course, battles for them aren't really as high stakes as what we're used to, so it's no surprise they're more gung ho about them than we are.
