Now that was a very telling statement. 'Some of Earth's cultures'. Any other time, he would have dismissed this outright as the ramblings of a madman or, perhaps, a religious idiot- but he had, recently, been thrust into another world full of magic animals that wanted to be his friends.

The flower of skepticism was dying on the branch. "Asgard... home of the Æsir, yes? I find it interesting that you credit Nordic language to a place so... mythological."

"Twas no myth to me. I was raised there." He holds out a hand in greeting. "I am Loki, Son of Odin."

Motherfucker. The shock had to be clearly visible on his face, but tentatively... he accepted the offered hand. "Goro Akechi. You're... not joking, or delusional, are you. You either genuinely believe that... or it is the truth."

How in the hell was this a thing that was happening. Was someone trying to be funny? "You're more personable than the legends would suggest."

Loki smirks at the clear shock on Akechi's face, but manages to not chuckle.

"The legends got a great deal wrong." Something something horse baby. "I can be courteous when it suits me."

"That's fair. Public cognition often falls dramatically short of the truth, especially when it comes to people who are thought highly of, whether they're celebrities, public officials... or, I suppose, gods." Certainly the 'Loki' that had appeared from his soul looked nothing like the man in front of him- it barely even looked human. "I'm going to have to think of a different name for my zorua, now, which is annoying. But it doesn't quite feel right for a pet to share a name with a person you know."

"Nonsense, Zorua are rather fine pokemon. I take it as a compliment." Loki gestures back to the ruins. "Were you here to explore as well?"

"Something like that," he replied airily. "I heard that selling captured Pokémon can be a lucrative prospect, and I'd expect the more uncommon varieties to be where humans aren't."

He stepped over the chain helpfully advising visitors to keep out. "This place isn't officially designated as some kind of wildlife preserve, so in all probability the 'Do Not Enter' signs are for safety purposes. Since I can handle myself..."
