Re: ecruteak
Ever the skilled tactician, he wasn't just enjoying the sights for fun. He was making a mental map incase need be. He'd figured out early on there weren't too many dangers in this world but he wasn't going to let that keep him unprepared. He had no weapons but he did still have his mind.
It was that exact foresight that had him alerted at being followed. Being weaponless he made sure to keep to an open area in case he needed assistance. The moment he heard the deep tenor voice behind him, he relaxed.
"It seems I haven't been brought here alone."He turned, not at all surprised to see Dimitri towering over him. "Why in the goddesses name are you are walking around alone. Shouldn't you have that big oaf with you at all times, your highness?" He has a hand on his hip and an slender violet eyebrow raised in question.
Aria takes her owners distraction as a blessing and continues to enjoy the crepe in his hands, getting whipped cream all over herself.
no subject
Still, he is getting sidetracked, he realizes. "At any rate, Dedue is - at the home that we have made for ourselves here," he says, correcting himself awkwardly. There is a lot to say here, and he nearly does not know where to start. "But why inquire on him, specifically?"
Surely, he should be quicker about this, a little more sly, analystical. But he has never felt those to be his strong suits, even with royal education backing it. Although, now that he has gotten over his surprise...
"Yuri, forgive the strangeness of my question, but what is the last thing you remember of Fodlan?"
no subject
Adjusting his stance he put a hand on his hip so that Aria could keep eating the crepe in his other. Yuri found he wasn't very hungry anymore, despite how deliciously sweet the treat had been. "I'm merely wondering why a soon to be King is without his guard."
Honestly Dimitri even when more sane was always strange so while his questioning wasn't too shocking, it still seemed odd. "We were on our way to Fort Merceus, the impregnable fortress. Is that not what you remember of our home?"
1/3
2/3
3/3
Strangely, it is somehow not any easier.
"This place has a very peculiar property," he finally manages, which seems like a fair enough starting point. "Even for those who may have known one another in their homeland... There is no guarantee that they are from the same time together, whether that means one is from the start of a war or in the aftermath, or... If it is changed entirely with key choices having been changed. But you are certain that it was I that was traveling with you to Fort Merceus? Along with Professor Byleth?"
Re: 3/3
"Perhaps it's better if you tell me what you remember of our home before I answer. I'd like to know if we are even of a similar timeline, just perhaps from different points." This was already starting to give Yuri a headache, if meeting everyone was this complicated he wasn't sure he wanted to meet any other 'old friends'.
Aria was feeling her owners unease and started to curl up against his neck, the pink spritzee almost disappearing against his lavender hair. Yuri felt her shiver and patted her head. "Shush, it's okay." Honestly he wasn't a hundred percent sure he believed his own words.
no subject
Perhaps it would be better for him if he were to insist on an answer for himself first, before anything else. So that he could keep himself safe.
But Dimitri has his Pokemon that would keep him safe, has allies and friends and lovers who would be there to protect him if anything were to go awry. What does he have to truly fear, in the end, in this place where death does not have a proper grip on any of them? So even as Silkie peers around him with some polite curiosity, Dimitri takes a breath.
"Before I awoke in this place.. the last that I recalled was the eve before Gronder Field's battle."
no subject
Seeing the slightly distant look in Dimitri's eye had him feeling sympathetic. He couldn't tell him what he'd lose at Gronder, at least not yet. They were never really that close and it didn't seem right to tell him. With a sigh he spoke.
"I remember Gronder. It would seem I am indeed from a different time from you, Dimitri." Formalities weren't exactly needed if this wasn't his exact King anymore. "It's been almost 3 months since Gronder for me."
no subject
Best... not to dwell on it.
"Three months..." Dimitri trails off, trying to organize and recall the timelines for everyone else as well. Most of their group was from after that battle, but that exact time? It's hard to recall exactly. Well, that is enough, he supposes. "Felix and Claude may be who you wish to speak with next... Although, ah, you were acquainted with Ashe, were you not? He is here as well."
Finally, he remembers to look around. "Ah, perhaps we should take a seat, somewhere. I would offer to tell you what I know of this land, but, well... If you have arrived this far already, I cannot imagine that I am of much assistance."
no subject
"Yes me and Ashe go way back. I'll look forward to seeing them later." He looked around, noticing an unoccupied bench not too far off. "Come, we can sit there."
If there was one thing he could say about this world it surely was strange. Here he was about to sit on a bench with the future king of all people. "I'm sure you have some useful knowledge to tell me. I'm not sure what I can offer in return but I'm sure you'll think of something. I don't enjoy owing anyone anything."
no subject
So it is both natural and yet a quiet little delight, to be able to sit down on a bench and have no one else think anything of it. "And I suppose simply saying that you could owe me would no doubt put you ill at ease," Dimitri muses, aware of that much, certainly. He would never lay claim to being the most clever of people, but he is, at least, sensible enough.
"Then... Perhaps it would help you to know which of us is here? Quite a few of our number have arrived here... Although mostly from Faerghus, I must admit. I could not begin to imagine why."
no subject
He leaned forward, Aria fluttering around him before sitting on his lap. "I assume I'm without the rest of my gang here, though you are lucky to have so many allies here. I bet it's made this place a lot easier to handle." There was the faintest hint of jealousy in his words, easily missed if you didn't listen for it. "What other tales do you have?"
no subject
A pause as he recalls what they literally just went over, and Dimitri gives a wry smile. "Or, alternatively, you can speak to Claude, who no doubt is far more familiar with your way of thinking than I."
Just put together the two most clever people he knows, what could go wrong?
"Besides that..." Dimitri thinks carefully. "I mentioned that people return home, as suddenly and with little reason as we appear here... and it seems that they return at the exact place and time as when they last recalled. Sometimes, people go into deep slumbers that seem similar, but they wake up here again, merely... with new knowledge, it seems."
He couldn't say anything about appearances; Sylvain is the only person he has as a reference and that had been a relatively short time span for him to experience, from what Dimitri understands.
no subject
"I see. So one day I might suddenly fall into an endless sleep or disappear and go back home..." He thought about it for a moment and while that was a bit terrifying it did make him feel better that there at least was a chance to go home. Until that happened he'd have to make the best of this situation and that meant allying himself with the right people. He'd joined Dimitri once already, what harm could a second time have?
"Perhaps I will take your offer up, but on my terms. I just need to think of something I can offer you in exchange first." He ran his hand through Aria's feathered head, trying to think of something he could possibly offer that also wouldn't maybe alter history. As of now he really had nothing except himself. "I could offer you my services." He knew exactly how that sounded and while he meant his skills in cooking or maybe helping to clean he wasn't going to correct how it came out. Yuri wanted a bit of fun for himself after and what better fun than flustering a prince.
1/hand waggle a number
It is almost enough to soothe the reality of their situation, of not knowing when they would be able to return home... Of being yanked away from loved ones.
But for now, he merely shakes his head as Yuri starts to speak, fully prepared that it is nothing he need worry about when he has only recently arrived -

That.

How does he even -

"...I apologize. I was caught off guard." May a Saint strike him down. Any Saint. He shall not be picky. "I... meant to say... that I am taken."
Re: pffftt I'm dead
"Oh Dimitri, you are a doll." He grins and leans into the much bigger man. 'I have men' indeed, Yuri wonders exactly how many he might have. "I believe you got me all wrong. I meant I could perhaps cook for you sometime or something of the like." His lavender eyes travel over him a moment before pulling back. A wicked smile on his face.
"Though if you were thinking about other activities I assure you I am nothing but discreet. You're relationship status doesn't bother me. I've been with a few married men and they are some of the most fun." Was he telling the truth? Dimitri wouldn't know but he couldn't keep the joy out of his voice from having successfully flustered him. Even his little Aria chirped up, seeming to have reveled in her owners joy.
no subject
That's a rather hefty decision to make, and not a decision he plans on talking about with Yuri on a public park bench.
"Still, if you would like to visit and see if Dedue and Ashe would permit you use of the kitchen, I doubt any would argue against it.
no subject
As long as Dimitri doesn't look like he's going to punch him or something of the like he doesn't mind playing this game with him. The mention of Ashe again does have his own guard faltering for a quick moment however.
"Ah I'm sure Ashe would allow it. Is he living with you as well?"
no subject
Just that! Just considering for right now! They're working on it!
Likely, he could just stop there after having confirmed Yuri's suspicions, but... it wouldn't feel right, to keep out his other lovers. So Dimitri feels compelled to keep going, however a bad idea that might be. "There are... Felix and Sylvain, as well," he admits, which is also probably the least surprising thing to hear with how much Felix kept after Dimitri despite how much he yelled about him. "And... two others, that you would not be familiar with, as they are not from Fodlan."
But he feels he should make a proper introduction, there, when the time comes.
"But, yes, Ashe lives with us as well. He was a part of our traveling group, and it felt only right to offer him room as well. I have tried to make it up to him, for I know we are all a troublesome group."
