...So you're saying people just get kidnapped here all the time?
And that the animals here like fighting each other?
[Ryou shoots a glance at the Hisuian Zorua sitting next to him. It just looks back at him, with that sad look it seems to always have.]
no subject
Yeah, exactly. People also go back a lot. But how long they're here is always a mystery. Some are around for years, and others only a few weeks.
[He pets some of his Pokemon, who are watching the conversation get typed out.]
Some of them sure like it. Others are pretty much pacifists.
[Cosmo hates battling. But she'd do it in an instant to protect Radley.]
no subject
[That isn't exactly comforting. Ryou absently pats the weird little fox next to him as he thinks about what he just got dropped into.]
How long have you been here, if you don't mind me asking?
no subject
I've been here since February.
no subject
[It's spring back home, but as Ryou looks around he realizes it doesn't look or feel much like spring here. If anything, it looks more like fall.]
Is it fall here right now? It was still spring in my world.
no subject
[The Pokemon call in delight. They love fall.
Radley chuckles. A couple of them can read.]
no subject
[That would be about seven months, then. Not encouraging.]
Ryou doesn't want to dwell on it though, not when he can't do much about it, so he tries to change the subject.
Who are you, by the way? My name's Bakura Ryou.
[He was just in Japan, Japanese name order is still ingrained.]
no subject
Bakura Ryou?! From the Battle City tournament?!
[He is shocked and thrilled that someone else from home has appeared.]
I'm Radley. You wouldn't know me; I've just seen videos of the tournament. It was thirty years ago in my time.
no subject
[Well, this is a surprise! Ryou will need a moment to figure out how to respond to this, especially since he doesn't remember what the spirit did during the tournament.]
I guess I did participate in that, but I don't remember most of it. But it's still known thirty years later?
no subject
[Also one of the weirdest, with people getting hurt, killed, possessed, and taken over by alternate personalities, but he's not going to go there. He still hasn't brought that up with Marik, nor does he really intend to unless a conversation ends up going that way.]
no subject
[For all he knows, one moment he was on the ground supporting his friends, then he was on a blimp with a bleeding arm, then he was waking up in the rubble after the whole thing was over.]
no subject
[Or someone operating Bakura's body did. Radley isn't sure what to make of what some of the others said about possession.]
no subject
About that...
I was possessed for that duel, so I only know what I was told happened. I did make the occult deck the spirit used though, so that much was me.
[He's still kind of proud of that deck, even now.]
no subject
It was a really good deck! I'm impressed.
... I'm guessing the possession is why you were waking up in weird places?
no subject
[While Duel Monsters might not be his strongest interest (TTRPGs are still his favourite type of game), he still enjoys playing anyways.
His brightened mood fades as he reads the next part of Radley's message, and Ryou absently pets his Zorua again before responding.]
Yeah, that's why I kept finding myself in weird places. I don't usually remember the possessions.
no subject
That's terrible. I'm sorry.
[He hopes the spirit hasn't shown up here too. Maybe Ryou can find peace.]
no subject
[He doesn't have the Ring anymore, so he'll be fine, right?
Right?
Ryou certainly doesn't want to think about it too hard, so he decides to focus on the Duel Monsters talk.]
BTW, who does my deck remind you of?
no subject
You wouldn't know him, but his name is Kalin Kessler. He worked for me and dueled with a very risky deck of Fiends called Infernities. They have special effects if they're played when you don't have any cards in your hands.
no subject
You would have to be able to get your hand empty as fast as possible and keep it empty to use that kind of deck. I can see how it would be risky, but it sounds like it'd be fun if pulled off.
[Well, you got Ryou's interest.]
no subject
Yeah. He was really good at it. It was fun watching him.
