MISTLETOE MEME!

It's December guys! You know what this calls for:
A MISTLETOE MEME!

On purpose, by accident, accidentally on purpose...either way, you're under the mistletoe and you're going nowhere until there's been a kiss. Blame social standards, peer pressure...or magic. Pokemon magic. Of course it just be a peck on the cheek. Or not...winkwink~

Happy Holidays everyone!

[The sound of his voice seemed to make everything all the more awkward. She took a step back, not out of fear, but out of uneasiness. She'd conceded to him in some form, and the last thing she wanted was to see him take advantage of it.]

Of course.

[Her gaze drifted away from him, to anywhere or anything else she could find. Meeting his eyes felt far too difficult for the time being.]

I hope you're happy. [Anyone else, and she might have said that they deserved it. But as generous as she was being this evening, she could say aloud that Jack deserved happiness.]

[Not after everything that had happened.]

Happy as I can be, ya know, all things considered.

[What with Nisha going back where she'd come from, and the strained tension that's grown between him and Angel. But he's as happy as he figures he can be, given the circumstances. He and Nisha got married. And while things are kind of a mess with Angel....eh, they're still here. There's time. Jack's a patient guy.]

[And he realizes what he's said, and the implications. He doesn't want to get into anything right now, so he quickly goes on.]

Kinda sucks I don't get to enjoy the whole marriage part of it, but...I mean, it's not like I was ever gonna. If Nisha had to stick around and be anybody's wife, she wouldn't have gone for it in the first place. But I got my wedding! It was nice. You, uh, you should have dropped by.

You never seemed the marrying type anyway. [He'd had wives, she knew and remembered that. Those memories from a long time ago, however, locked behind a nigh impenetrable, purple haze. The Jack she was most familiar with went from woman to woman, never to settle.]

[She shook her head. She didn't want to ruin the moment, and the fastest way to manage all that was to start thinking about who Jack used to be.]

I didn't want to ruin the moment. I know myself -- [Or rather, she knew him, at least well enough to know he would have brought out the worst in her.] -- I would have made a scene.

No, no, I like being married. Just takes a special lady for me to want to do the whole marriage thing. 'Cause I may like my fun, but I take the bonds of matrimony seriously. I always have. That's...part of the reason Nisha was never into it. Not that we weren't completely committed to each other, just...she never got why the whole thing was just such a big deal. Why we needed a big thing and someone else saying we're married to make it matter.

[Jack shrugs. Despite their similarities, he and Nisha are very different people. Ceremony's important to him. Showing other people, making a fuss...it does matter, to him.]

[He glances at Angel and shrugs again.]

Not if you really didn't want to, sweetheart. It was a nice ceremony, a lot of people turned out. My houndour was ring bearer.

[If she was being honest, Angel tuned out a good portion of Jack's speech. She didn't care about the wedding itself, only that it was her father who was involved. More importantly, she didn't want to get caught up in idle small talk, either. It was just another way for Jack to sink his claws into her.]

[Thankfully, the conversation turned. Even if she was wasn't particularly to talk about her own (potential) motivations, it was something aside from pretending to be interested in anything Jack said.]

I would have wanted to. I want to right now, but I figure that neither one of us will benefit from being nasty. [Despite her negative response, she did crack a small smile.] I'm glad Doom Bob was able to play a role though. I... do regret missing that.
