At the mention of 'his efforts' Walter shook his head. "I didn't intend-"

He was surprised by her saying that she appreciated him. He had fully expected her to call him a creep for his 'effort'. But no, she was taking his hand and- Walter's eyes widened in surprise when she kissed his hand. He carefully drew his hand back, thumb of his other hand brushing over where she had kissed him.

"...Thank you." He murmured quietly, unsure what to say. "I didn't intend to get anything out of this."

I know. [Angel fixed a bright smile on the man. She bore no ill-will toward him -- he'd been nothing but a gentleman, as far a s she was concerned.] And that is why you got one.

[She paused for a moment, a period in which her smile wavered in the slightest. Perhaps she had overstepped her bounds, made him uneasy somehow.]

I apologize if I was too forward, of course.

You really didn't have to. Nobody's kissed me before. [ He smiled softly, eyes lowered to his hands shyly. It was less than Angel had overstepped a boundary more that she had done something unprecedented in his life. Affection wasn't something Walter was at all familiar with, so something as small as a kiss to the back of his hand meant a great deal to him. ]
