Hey, don't sweat it.

[Dana removed her own hand from the line, and took a step back.]

Why don't you go on ahead, I can go up after you.

[She might be in a strange land, devoid of her powers and close allies but that didn't mean she needed to be a jerk to everyone she met. They were all here to have a good time and take their mind of their troubles, weren't they?]

Oh! ( she gives a friendly smile to the girl and nods soft. ) Thank you so much, truth be told, I've never done this before so I'm a bit nervous to make sure that I do it right. Have you ever done this sort of climbing? Because if you have, well, you should definitely go up there first! I'd be able to learn better if I have someone to spot.

[As she waits for the other girl to take the line, she notes the hesitation.] It's no problem, and there's really no wrong way to do it. That's what all the harnesses are for. [Dana gives her own harness a firm tug to imply that this is the thing that's going to catch you if you make a misstep] I haven't had a chance to do it much lately but yeah I have. There's nothing to it.

[She paused a moment to weigh the options.]

If you think it will help, sure.

Just pay attention to how I find the handholds and footholds.. and you should get it in no time. When they set up walls like this as attractions those two things are pretty easy to spot.

( she smiles and nods, taking in the advice being given to her. it's fair that the wall is pretty simple ( "simple" ) to climb but her nerves are still lit up from this being the first time she's ever attempted something like this. )

Right! I'll definitely pay attention because even though I'm harnessed, I really, really don't want to fall.

( she gives a light chuckle. )

[Dana wasn't used to having her friends accompany her on her more athletic activities, so this would be a treat.]

With everyone down here watching, I can't say that I blame you.

[.. but no pressure!

She nodded to the well wishes, then reached for the line again. In a few moments she started to scale the rope. There was a finesse to alternating between reaching for the rope, and using your legs to secure the ascent.]

( it's definitely brand new for her but it's nice to know there's someone else here willing to help her. she makes a point about the persons around just in case someone falls but... it would also be juuuust a bit embarrassing, too! )

You can do it!

( some backup from the cheering section(tm) might help so she watches as her newfound friend starts up the rope. she's athletic and serenity certainly isn't, but, she's willing to try it at least once. as dana heads up the length of the rope, serenity watches as she heads higher and higher up the hempen rope. )

[It's nice having someone rooting for her even if it isn't a requirement. This does take a lot of muscle strength.. so there is some question as to if her new friend will be able to pull it off.

As she climbs she tries to think of some better advice she could give.]

Lot's of practice, you just need to be patient with it.

[She continues up, until she reaches the top then descends back down.]

Don't feel as if you need to beat my time, just get used to handling the rope.

( probably not. she might make it a small bit of the way but she isn't exactly miss muscles. this seems better suited to her brother or even tristan. the pair of them definitely have more chance with something like this than her petite form. )

Wow, you did amazing!

( when dana comes back down, serenity looks up at the rope and frets about how high she might get up even a quarter of the height she gained. taking the rope in her hands, she starts to pull herself up once the rope is given to herself. she manages to shimmy her way up to nearly about a third of the way up before her hands are burning and her legs just can't manage anymore of it. not even halfway up, serenity lets herself slide back down the rope and let her feet touch the ground! )

Oof... That wasn't nearly as good as you did... Oh well! I tried, that's all that matters, right?

[The thought of trying to get.. oh say.. Carrie to join in on something like this gave Dana some mild amusement. This was definitely something that could break your nails if you were unlucky so it was not something her prissier friend could get into.]

Ah, that was nothing.

[She replied humbly when she was back on the ground. Of course, her newfound friend was just about to find out how "nothing" it had all been. Relinquishing the rope easily, Dana stood back and prepared to handle the cheering this time. It's almost painful to see how slowly the other girl progresses, but Dana still bounces on her heels, and pumps her fist in the air like it's the most incredible attempt she's ever seen.]

You're doing so well! You got this!

[Serenity, did not.. in fact have this but.. ]

That was admirable, especially for a first attempt. Most people don't even make it that far. There just isn't usually a day to day need to climb up a rope, you know?

( she shakes her hands which feel a bit warm from the ropes in spite of the gloves. )

H- Heh, was it? Well, I did my best! That's all that matters. You're really good at this, though. Do you do this kind of thing often?
