[Route 29] [cw: warning for potential language, unsavory things, and not being kind towards Pokemon]

[After getting thrown out, but not before wrecking her "mom's house", Loona is off on her own. While normally, she looks pretty dog-like, she's thankfully blending in with the humans pretty well. A Hisuian Zorua trails behind her, as she fiddles around on her PokeGear.]

This is crap - I don't even have my Sinstagram! Where the hell are all my pics?!

[... Yeah there's the whole being trapped in the mortal realm without the rest of I.M.P but her da - Blitzo was probably trying to get to her anyway. She just has to play it cool. She can do this.

Except...]

You don't have to keep following me, you know. Seriously, what the crazy [female dog's name] said was a load of crap. Just do whatever you want.

[She turns around, continuing to fiddle with the PokeGear, except she's getting the impression she's still being followed. She turns around with a growl.]

I said BEAT IT!

[The Hisuian Zorua shrinks back, but doesn't run away either.]

Ughhh, what is with you!

hey so i've been walking around this place for a while now

i think i'm near a violet city?

is there anyplace i can get a bite to eat or do i have to eat the fox my "mom" gave me

There are most likely inns or convenience stores in Violet if you have the money for them. If you don't, you will have to scavenge.

[Whether she means beating them up and taking their money or just beating them in battle is kind of unknown.]

anyway i think i've got money for food at least. don't know how much the inns cost.

i'll just be glad to get out of this shithole.

They are. That can't have gotten you much, though. The pay for winning here is abysmal. Are you familiar with Japanese currency? The conversion rate is about the same.

I do. There are people I'd like to get back to, back at home. [and some he wouldn't mind giving some special "fanservice" as thanks for their betrayal] That's the nature of this place, I fear. It's very ....child-friendly.

That, or the powers that be are pretty good at hiding beneath the candycane surface.

US ones? Hmm, then it's roughly 1 to 130...ish? Sorry, I'm not that up to date with US currency, but over the thumb it's about "add two zeros at the end and then another good chunk that's roughly a third" if compared to Japanese Yen. That's what the local currency reminds me the most of, at least. Lots of zeros at the end, and yet not all that much worth to it when you actually try to use it.

[That's nicely put. Half of the local members of Team Rocket must have been exposed to (or at least had the bad luck of overhearing) his grousing over the "worthless money" and "being fobbed off with chump change" by now. Or at least the ones stationed near and around Goldenrod City.]

That much can be arranged, at least.

And I'd assume so, yes. These pastel monsters do have their uses, though. Have you heard of the one that can mint you money?

[It was the presence of a pretty woman (with an awesome hairstyle to boot) that caught Kristen's attention at first. But when the that woman lashes out at her Pokemon, admiration is replaced with concern for the creature.]

Woah, uh, okay. I get being pissed, but what did this guy do that was so bad? It seems like they just want to be friends with you. That's pretty good, right?

[Kristen is certainly glad to have instant friendship in this situation, even if in her case, it's with a floating question mark who looks very bored.]

... Because I don't need anyone. And he shouldn't either. He doesn't need to follow me around.

[Her temper tapers off a bit, and she huffs and tucks some of her hair behind her ear. The Hisuian Zorua cautiously trots up to her, trying to rub against her leg, and it takes all her effort not to growl at him. Instead, she distracts herself with the floating question mark.]

Soooo... why do you have a question mark following you around?

[Kristen scoffs, though in a very good natured way. Not skepticism, just the sense that she thinks maybe this woman is making a weird joke she doesn't quite get.]

Aw, what? Come on, why shouldn't he need people? Needing people isn't bad.

[Kristen crouches down toward the ground to see if she can get the Hisuian Zorua's attention, rubbing her fingers together with little 'psst psst' sounds.]

Huh? Oh, that's my monster partner guy. They're not all foxes, I guess!

[The Zorua perks up, trotting over looking for some positive attention. If Kristen lets him, the Zorua will rub his head up against her hand. Loona just, looks kind of annoyed but doesn't say anything further.]

So what? We all get some kind of partner here? I really don't get the point of this place.

[Kristen is happy to be affectionate with Zorua, letting him rub against her hand and then scratching his ear, all while she continues to address Loona.]

Really, you don't? Where I'm from, lots of people get partners like these. And even if you don't have a creature, almost would have people they teamed up with to get stuff done. You've never had a party?
