CR meme - Summer edition

CR MEME!
Another three months have come and gone, so it is time for another CR meme. This time, a warm and summery-themed one.

Please share your ideas of interactions you'd love your character to have, or plots you are rolling around in your head that might need a few more folks. Is your character looking for a friend? An enemy? A rival? You could find it all here. And remember, the more detailed, the better! We all want all the CR, but specific plans, or at least a specific direction you want to take something in, will really help out everybody involved.

Like before, this CR meme will also include a template specifically geared towards Rocket CR. Please fill it in to let our Rocket members know how you feel about getting your characters involved in some crime.

Not in game, no, but I've brought it back for Fourth Wall weekends.

Yeah, I'd say he's lucky. Keldor was never able to hide his Gar heritage—the blue skin is one of their defining features—and unfortunately Gar are pretty much Not Liked by the human populace [because of some things that happened in the past and that the humans need to Get Over It Already, Please], and even if we don't get much if any peeks into his past, we can still get an idea of how he was treated growing up; not just by the people but even his own father. He certainly had/has self-esteem issues even if he doesn't let it on, and which led to ... things.

At any rate, it'd be nice for them to have people who understand what it feels like to be born of two races.

Oh definitely! And Keith definitely resembles both his parents in his design. His father looks like he could be indigenous, and his mother has the very purple Galra complexion. So that left Keith in this kind of middle ground where he can pass as a white human. So, he actually ended up pretty lucky, but I'm pretty sure he saw things directed at his father, and then later had it directed at him by pure Galra. There were some that refused to call him by name and referred to him as "Earthling" or "half-breed" a few times through canon. I would have liked to have seen more fall-out from non-Galra races when they found out that one of the Paladins of Voltron was half-Galra, but that was definitely a missed opportunity for the show. They did show non-Galra looking down on the Blade of Marmora members, not wanting to believe that some Galra weren't just warmonger conquerors, so the sentiment is there, but it wasn't something I saw developed with Keith, so I'd love to play more with it.

Tragic past is also something they'd have in common. While Keith didn't have a bad relationship with his father, he lost him when he was very young and ended up in the foster care system while he grew up believing his mother didn't want him because she left when he was still an infant. So, that sense of being unwanted and disliked by everyone is still there in a different way. Keith's method of coping was to get angry and beat people up, so... LOL. He tended to stick to what he knew he was good at, avoid things he wasn't confident about, and push people away with this put on air of superiority in regards to what he knew he could do well. Hiding those low confidence issues is also something they'd have in common.

SO! That said... we should find a way for them to meet up!

I must say that I do envy you here, in that Keith is a fully-developed character—we know who he is as a person, whereas Keldor's problems don't find their origins from within canon but rather from outside. Sadly, Keldor is treated by the franchise as something of a footnote chapter in the Skeletor story—we never really get to see him as an individual in his own right, or learn much about what he actually dealt with. Much of it is effectively inference gleaned from whatever the franchise decides to toss our way on any given day. His people didn't even have a name until Mattel did their Classics series for the collector's market somewhere around 2009ish, that's how much development we didn't get [edit: and before that, he spent nearly twenty years being just a name in a toy tie-in comic that appeared towards the end, and didn't get a face until the 2002 reboot]. In fact, we had to wait until we got the book "I, Skeletor" [for the Netflix CGI series] before we got anything substantive regarding Keldor as his own person.

But we're not here to discuss my opinions on how the franchise deals with a character and how developed they are within it.

Currently it seems they're both involved in the Lost World plot, and will have had a chance to see each other during all the action, and thus be able to recognise each other later on and begin properly interacting with each other, even if they've already spoken to each other over the network in the past, albeit briefly.

Just saw your tag in! That'll be a perfect start for them. :D

But yeah. I get it. It can be hard to find stuff sometime for some characters. And, even as a main character, there's so much that's still left out of Keith's history (like his frickin' surname when other characters with smaller roles have full names, but I'm not bitter).
