Radley listens to the spiel in slight amusement. Hiccup is not the first to think this is an afterlife.

"I'm pretty sure we're not dead," he says, bending to pet his Pokemon as they return. "This is more like ... an alternate dimension? People get pulled out of their worlds to come here, and a lot of times they get sent back sooner or later."

He surveys the drool-covered leg in dismay. Oh dear.

Hiccup meanwhile just picks up the leg, gives it a good shake, then reattaches it. Apparently it doesn't bother him at all.

"An alternate what? Okay that's just... CRAZY."

With his leg back, Hiccup then pushes himself up to stand again. Pointing casually at Radley as if trying to make a point.

"Because that's not possible, and I was falling before I woke up here. Sounds pretty afterlifey to me. You sure we're not dead?"

The Gible just blinks at the both of them, clearly puzzled by all of this.

[crystalmaster]

Radley finds that pretty gross, but oh well.

He folds his arms. "Pretty sure. Some people get brought back here again and they say that they'd gone home to the moment they left."

[furyrider]

He's used to it.

"... Really?" Hiccup lowers his finger, looking skeptical but slightly hopeful? Not sure whether or not to believe this guy he only just met. But... since he's got his prosthetic still, maybe it's true? Maybe.

"So... what now?"

[crystalmaster]

Radley nods. "I haven't heard anything different, at least."

He holds up a very friendly Eevee. "Now, we hang out with these cuties."

[furyrider]

Hiccup blinks as the little fluffy animal is held up. Looking between it and Radley with more skepticism.

“Uh… he’s cute, but I’m more of a dragon guy.”

Some people like dogs, some people like cats, this one likes dragons.

The Gible stomps excitedly and makes happy noises! He’s a dragon!

[crystalmaster]

Radley smirks. "Lucky you, the leg gobbler is a dragon."

Evie the Eevee cheers.

[furyrider]

“Yeah?”

Hiccup looks down at the stumpy little guy then bends down to his level.

“Hey there.” This is the moment of truth as Hiccup reaches out his hand. Not touching the dragon but offering, letting it come to him.

The Gible trundles forward, gives Hiccup’s hand a sniff then presses his nose into his palm.

The boy grins, stroking the Pokémon’s rough skin. “There we go.” Hiccup taking the time to look the little troublemaker over more carefully. “You look like a shark… face. With legs.”

[crystalmaster]

"Cute," Radley smiles.

He ponders this observation. "You know, he does."

Evie warbles, wanting to make friends!

[furyrider]

“Shark Face. Sounds like a good name too.”

Speaking of names…

“Oh… right.”

He stands up, looking a little sheepish as he looks back to Radley and his Eevee.

“I’m Hiccup.”

[crystalmaster]

... Shark Face? Hiccup? Are these normal names for this guy's world? Radley certainly wonders, but since he seems nice, Radley doesn't want to ask.

... It could be worse. At least it's not Burp.

"Radley," he smiles. "And these are Evie, Lily, Cosmo, Isla, Ruby, and Felix." Four are Eevees, while Cosmo is a Kirlia and Felix is a Sprigatito. They mostly greet cheerily, while Cosmo just gives a shy smile.

THEY SURE ARE.

Burp is sorta already taken? The Gible at least seems pleased with the name.

Hiccup looks between all the Pokémon as they’re introduced, running a hand through his hair as he takes it all in. He’s never seen animals like these before.

“Uh, hi. Thanks for the help.”

[crystalmaster]

Radley would probably not be surprised that there actually is a Burp. He smiles, seeing the Gible likes the name.

"Sure. If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer them."

[furyrider]

Are you ready for this Radley? Because Hiccup has SO MANY questions.

“Okay,” he starts, definitely taking him up on that offer.

“So if this isn’t the afterlife, or even if it is, where am I?”

[crystalmaster]

"This is New Bark Town in the Johto region," Radley says. "Beyond that, we don't know if it's Earth, another planet altogether, or some kind of magically or technologically created dimension."

[furyrider]

“So you don’t really know where are?”

Hiccup breathes out a sigh, his head spinning. He’s had some weird things happen to him, but nothing quite like this.

“But… but how? Why? You said others have gone back right?”

[crystalmaster]

"Unfortunately, no, I don't," Radley sighs. "The people who go back and come here again don't seem to have any ideas either. The locals aren't much help."

[furyrider]

That makes Hiccup frown. Not because of Radley himself, just because of how weird all of this is. And how nobody has been able to figure it out.

"Then how do we get here? How do we go back?"

If people can go back there must be a way to get back.

[crystalmaster]

"No one really knows. There's a theory that the god of this world is doing it, but I don't think anyone knows for sure." Radley sighs. "We don't know why he'd do it either."

[furyrider]

The amount of unanswered questions is really bothering Hiccup. Radley seems convinced this isn't the afterlife, yet no one apparently knows where they really are or how they got here or how to get back. So he lets out a frustrated sigh and tries to think.

"Okay so there are gods here. Or... a god? Just one? Who or what is it?"

Of course, being a Viking, he's always been told stories of the Norse gods.

[crystalmaster]

"It seems to be one of these animals, a Pokemon," Radley says. "His name is Arceus."

[furyrider]

“Pokemon?”

He feels like he’s heard that word before, probably from that crazy lady. Something about his Pokémon journey.

“So the god here is an animal, huh?” Weird but okay. “Has anyone ever seen it?”

[crystalmaster]

"That's what they call these animals," Radley says.

He nods. "Yeah.... A lot of us did. Me too. It's ... a long story."

[furyrider]

"Oh."

Okay then. At mention of it being a long story, Hiccup throws his hands in the air.

"Looks like I've got plenty of time for it."

[crystalmaster]

"You'll probably think it's loco," Radley says with a dark smirk, "but this crazy lady was trying to mess around with time travel and sent all of us to the past. The machine broke and we spent weeks getting the parts to fix it. When we finally did, something went wrong again and we ended up ... in some kind of weird space of nothingness. Arceus showed up and seemed mad at us for what we'd done. Apparently we broke the space-time continuum or something like that? He fixed it and sent us back. Honestly, I still don't really know what happened there and I'm kinda mad if he was mad. What did he expect us to do when we got stranded? He could have sent us back any time, but he didn't." He shakes his head. "Well, anyway, at least we came out of it alright."
