Hiccup | How To Train Your Dragon
That was the last thing he said as he let go of the Light Fury and began falling with Grimmel clinging to his leg. Watching as the white dragon shrieked in surprise before turning and rescuing a falling Toothless. A sense of relief flooding through him as he knew his best friend would be okay. Even if he wouldn't. A struggle with Grimmel resulted in his glider wings being torn off, seemingly sealing both their fates as they plummeted through the mist towards the raging waters below.
As he looked up he saw a white figure, diving through the clouds, just as his vision faded.
The next thing Hiccup knew, there was a light shining on his face. Blinking his eyes open, he squinted against the sunlight that was streaming in through a window. Soft, strange music reaching his ears. With a start he then sat up and looking around, the surroundings completely unfamiliar to him.
"What... what happened?" Disoriented and confused, it took him a moment to gather his thoughts and the reality of what he just went through. "Oh... I'm dead. I'm very dead." A pause. "But this definitely isn't Valhalla."
Getting off the bed he made his way out of the room and the stairs, only to be confronted by a woman who shoved a backpack at him and started telling him that today was the day to start his journey!
"Uuuuuh... is this Folkvangr? Are you Freyja? ... No? ... A Valkyrie maybe?"
The woman just kept prattling on about how he needed to go out into the world and explore and began pushing him towards the door.
"H-hey! Isn't there supposed to be a feast or... something?!"
A bento box was then pushed into his hands. The door slammed in his face.
Shark Bait [New Bark Town]
Okay then.
Hiccup sighs and starts walking through town, looking the bento box over and figures out how to open it and finds food. This is definitely not what he was expecting when he died.
He is hungry though. Sitting down on a bench he starts eating the strange but tasty food. Just minding his own business when he feels something.
CHOMP!
Looking down he sees a stumpy little creature that he thinks might be a dragon? It's gnawing on and drooling all over his prosthetic leg.
"Whoa, hey! Not a chew toy!"
Hiccup gets up and shakes his leg, trying to shake the thing off, only for it to growl and continue gnawing away. Several moments of flailing and gnawing eventually resulting in Hiccup's prosthetic leg coming unhooked and the Gible running away with it.
"Oh come on! I need that!"
Hopping on one foot he gives chase! As best he can anyway. The inevitable happening as he trips and falls flat on his face.
Technology! [Network Post]
[A strange video comes on the network today. Mostly being of a face staring intently at the camera as its turned this way and that.]
Huh. What is this thing?
[He may have been randomly pushing buttons as he tried to figure out what his Pokegear actually is. He's never seen anything like this before! A green eye filling up the frame as he tries to peer into the lens of the camera. Then you get a food view of his nostril before its pulled back again and he flips it over, now giving a view of the ground and his feet. The video shaking as he taps the casing of the pokegear experimentally.]
Shark Bait
"Hey, are you okay?"
He moves to help Hiccup up, while meanwhile two of his Pokemon hurry after Gible to try to tell him the leg isn't a toy!

Says a muffled voice into the ground. The owner of it then pushing himself up into a sitting position and looks up at the person who asked.
"Totally fine!" His arms waving in an animated fashion. "I mean I'm dead. And the gods must be laughing at me after putting me in this... whatever this after life is."
Radley's Pokemon must have been very convincing because the Gible comes back and spits the leg out in front of Hiccup along with a copious amount of drool.
The boy covered in dragon scale armor staring at it for a moment.
"But... if I'm dead. Why do I still have this?"

It's a PokéGear. You can speak to people with it.
[Among other things, but one thing at a time.]
Pull it back and look at the side with the picture on it. You should see me.

[And now the device goes flying through the air and hits the ground. Which should make for an interesting sight. Hiccup’s voice can be heard in the distance.]
It talks?! … Of course it does. Why wouldn’t it? Everything here is weird. Next it’ll tell me the earth is round.
[His voice gets louder as he gets closer, and in the next moment he picks it up again. Flipping the gear around and showing his face again. Blinking in surprise as he looks back into another face?]
Uuuuh… hello?

Needless to say, Harry soon rushes to help out Hiccup with Lily and Molly tagging to tell the Gible that the leg is not a toy.
“Oh hey. Is everything alright over here?l”

Hiccup just rolls over and lays there on his back, splayed out, and staring at the sky. As he hears someone's concerned voice though he shoots up a hand, giving a thumbs up.
He's good! Just... missing his leg at the moment.
Which is currently in the jaws of a Gible who's settled down with it several feet away, gnawing on it. What do you mean this isn't a toy? He thinks its a great toy!

It's a way for people to talk and find each other. Well, it's a few other things, too. I'm still learning how to use it, but I heard it has information... Like a book!

Really? But… how? It doesn’t have pages?
[He could probably figure it out after fiddling with it for awhile but maybe she could give him a head start?]
Goro Akechi | Persona 5 Royal
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me—“
He’s not dressed for travelling through a rugged routes and forests. If anything, he looks more suited for winter, with a heavy coat and scarf.
But he looks vastly out of his depth in many more ways. Especially how he scowls up at the trees. He’s a city slicker, and his eternal damnation is apparently going camping with fuzzy creatures.
Speaking of. A pale furry thing runs away from him, nearly tripping him.
“Hey—“
His zorua darts away. Then out of the bushes comes… two Catepies. Which is the real, and which is the illusion?
Akechi groans and rubs his forehead. “I really do not have time for this today.”
Maybe you’d like to give him a hand?
[network, video]
[The video is well framed, with a smiling Akechi waving slightly. He has a charming, easy air to him — someone who’s used to smiling for TV]
Hello everyone! I had hoped to introduce myself on better terms, but today I need some assistance…
[A Pokémon darts around behind him. It’s hard to tell what it is.]
I understand that these… creatures are common companions, but I don’t really have time to take care of a pet. Does anyone know the best method for rehoming these?
[Sorry, Akechi, you’re gonna be a trainer whether you want to or not.]
video
Oh, no, you don't wanna do that. 'least not unless ya got another one. There's some pretty tough critters out here that people don't stand a chance against. And they don't let ya have weapons.
[Not that such a polite young man would need a gun, right? Right???]
no subject
Then we have no means of self defense, aside from…
[Something bumps the camera. Akechi quickly fixes it.]
I can’t imagine how a small creature like this could provide any genuine defense.

Early Routes
That voice coming from not too far away in the tall grass. This REALLY tall grass. By the gods how does it grow like this here? Hiccup emerges with some of the foliage sticking in his hair, and a little land shark following after him.
Judging by the fact that this guy is wearing a bunch of leather covered in black dragon scales, he's definitely not a city slicker. Looks more the rustic type. The Pokemon with him eyes the Caterpies, his mouth watering as he starts to move towards them.
"Shark Face, no. I don't think they're for eating."
no subject
"I'm not satisfied wasting my life doing -- whatever this is."
One of the Caterpies startles and runs. The other tilts its head, and shifts -- taking the form of Hiccup's Pokemon with an illusion. Akechi just sighs.
"Well, that answers that question..."

"Heh. Lemme guess. One of them's a Zorua, right?"
He's been there. Had his share of tricky teammates, too.
voicetesting.there really aren't enough threads in new tdm anyway, so...feel free to ignore (or not)
They're not our pets, I don't think. They're our- companions. Like our shadows? Well, they're not shadows. So, hm, our lights? Only in a pet form. That's how it looks to me.
[And how could you? rehome your own...? Noriaki Kakyoin pointedly does not say outloud]

New Bark
He's not sure what hurts more, his arm or the fact that he just missed the chance at the coolest first impression ever.]
Seriously?!
[Luckily for the two of them, the little monster that popped out of Merlin's ball was the cutest little Yamper ever, and she wastes no time to fetch Rapunzel's tossed ball as she frets over her Smeargle. With her tail wagging, she approaches the other trainer with bright, sparkly eyes, almost eager for her to throw the pokeball again.
Her own trainer, meanwhile, immediately changes his tune when he realizes the person who pelted him is in fact a young lady and clears his throat as he goes over to check on her suddenly materialized Smeargle.]
Terribly sorry! I didn't mean to get in the way of your...um, casual projectile. I see yours, too, came with a weird magical dog.

SMACK
-the Pokeball nailed him right in the temple. The world kinda tilted as he went down, landing in a half-heap with a groan. Still awake, but everything is a little spinny, as he sits up and cradles his head in one hand. His Doduo stands overhead, one beak birdly nibbling at his shoulder in a way of checking if he was okay. After a moment the other head echoed the motion on the other shoulder.]

[Yeah, that's a pretty solid hit. Not enough to take Cal down or anything, but she's definitely rubbing at the freshly-sore spot on her head, sucking in a quick breath of pain.]
Ah- ...nice arm. Ow.
Izzy Izumi | Digimon Adventure (1999)
[Waking up in somewhere entirely new is not exactly anything new to Izzy. Nor is being gifted a strange little monster out of nowhere, told it's your partner, and sent on the road without little more than a "Good luck!" What is new is the particular makeup of this new monster of his, a blind little blue bat, and how otherwise... normal this place seemed to be.
Anyone happening by the little area outside of New Bark is going to see the kid pacing back and forth reading from the guide in the backpack he'd been given, all while a Zubat perched on top of his head, just happy to be along for the ride.]
"...and are quite happy to remain inside their Pokeballs for as long as needed, which can be shrunk down to a more travel-friendly size for convenience." Fascinating!
[He stopped and gestured up, which got a little squeak from Zubat.]
So, this world, while being more grounded than a- [Chuckle] -certain other one that I'm used to, still has its own unique, almost science fiction elements! Of course, this is reality and not fiction...
[Back to pacing, back to read.]
"Despite the Pokeballs being part of a Pokemon's care, it's not all of it." Well duh.
[Zubat snickered.]
"Pokemon require food, water, and other basics of care, just like we all do! Following is a breakdown of the different foods, including the assorted berries available. Pay attention because some of these might even alter a Pokemon's appearance, causing it to evolve!"
[He stopped again, sitting down by his backpack, book open in his lap while he reached up with his other hand to idly rub Zubat's cheek.]
Utterly fascinating...
Network
[Naturally it wouldn't take long for Izzy to start exploring the PokeGear. It was no laptop of course, but it was greater than a Digivice. Some of its functions were mundane, but at least one of them was a great draw of attention.]
Greetings, all. I understand that there are many of us who have arrived here from other worlds. With that in mind I just have a couple questions, if you'd be willing to indulge me:
1. How secure is this communication network? I can see some basic parameters on my own, but of course I'm not the SysOp so I hardly have the power to see it all.
2. How many of you come from a world in which there is some sort of monster? Partner type or otherwise.
Thank you.

I think there's a place in Kanto where your Pokémon go when you leave, but I'm not sure where exactly it is beyond that.
